Orff classes Using their voices to speak and sing, and their bodies to move and dance, children in Orff classes joyously progress from musical imitation to improvisation and literacy. Weekly classes (45 to 60 minutes in length) are based on what children like to do: sing, chant rhymes, clap, dance and keep a beat on anything near at hand. These instincts are directed into learning music by hearing and making it first, and then by reading and writing music later, as age appropriate. At the end of the term, each class performs in one of MRU’s beautiful theatres. The whole family is invited to celebrate the children’s accomplishments. All Orff classes are unparented. Some classes are held at Vecova Centre, 3304 33rd St. NW.
