elcome to the Music to Your Ears concert season at the Bella Concert Hall in the Taylor Centre for the Performing Arts! We are so excited to launch our inaugural season featuring seven separate series with over 25 diverse events. As a world-class centre for arts education and training, we are committed to providing education and performance opportunities for our students as well as showcasing exemplary artistic achievement in music and speech arts. From reggae legends and jazz aficionados to eastern classical masters to Canadian astronauts, this year’s line-up quite literally has something for everyone. Chantal Kreviazuk is a model musician, humanitarian and Canadian. Her conservatory-based musical training has served her well as a singer, songwriter and pianist. She continues to use her voice to tell stories through song and serve the needs of her community. We’re excited to welcome this Juno Award winner to the Bella Concert Hall as our inaugural Soundscape Series artist. The Bella Concert Hall is an award-winning venue with perfect acoustics to amplify the finest artistic voices of our time. For upcoming artists, visit mru.ca/enjoy. Acquisition of our Hamburg Steinway Piano was made possible through generous support from an anonymous donor and The Community Facility Enhancement Program, Alberta Culture and Tourism.
Chantal Kreviazuk is a Canadian-born singer and songwriter from Winnipeg, Manitoba who began playing piano from ear at the age of three. Now a multiple Juno Award winner, Chantal Kreviazuk has become one of Canada’s most beloved artists. Offstage, Chantal and her husband, Raine Maida, frontman for Our Lady Peace, have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to human rights causes. In recognition of Chantal and Raine’s longstanding dedication to the world community, they received the 2014 Allan Slaight Humanitarian Spirit Award in addition to being jointly appointed to the Order of Canada.
