ARTS, CRAFTS & FUN NIGHT OUT

Join us for a night out at William’s Restaurant and create a starfish-topped sea glass tree! Your project includes string lights that run on batteries. If you would like, you are also free to bring your own objects to add to your tree. This guided class includes all materials as well as an appetizer and adult beverage, tax and gratuity. In this fun-filled whimsical and stress-free class, we'll work together to learn watercolor techniques (wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, blotting, texture, etc.) that create a fundamental basis for your watercolor journey. Seats are limited! (No Waivers)

Join us for a fun night out and create your own sea glass succulents! This class includes everything you need to create two lighted sea glass succulents. The instructor will bring all of the materials and walk you through the process. If you would like, you are also free to bring your own small objects to add. Amigurumi is the art of knitting or crocheting small, stuffed yarn creatures. Using crochet, you will learn the art of amigurumi by crocheting your own chicken. Prior crocheting knowledge is needed to be able to participate. Please bring an 8mm crochet hook to class. The instructor will provide all other materials needed. (No Waivers)

For folks who have one (or more) DNA tests and want to use their matches to find birth parents or verify ancestors, this class will get you started. Matches will be sorted by share groups, cM’s, and segments to find common ancestors. Tree building from matches to common ancestors and back from those common ancestors to you (and unknown birth parents or known ancestors you want to verify) will be demonstrated and practiced.

PHOTOGRAPHY & MUSIC

INTERMEDIATE GUITAR (16+)

9/18 - 10/23 5:30–6:30pm

Learn the foundation of music theory as it relates to the guitar through learning and playing various scales in numerous genres of Western music. Upon completion of the course, you will be able to find chords to any song you hear, transpose songs and chords to different keys, and create and play lead guitar parts. Must bring a functional acoustic or electric guitar to class! (No Waivers)

Students will learn beginner guitar techniques, including chord symbols, tablature, and various styles like rock, country, jazz, folk, and blues. By the end, they'll read chord charts and tablature, tune their instruments, and strum in rhythm. Acoustic guitars are required, and students will receive picks, sheet music, and extra reading materials. (No Waivers)

This class will help you improve your photographic compositions using instruction, photo assignments and class discussions. The instructor will also set up a field trip day to assist you and offer advice regarding your compositions.

Smartphones come equipped with powerful cameras capable of capturing beautiful, high-quality images. Topics will include composition, basic editing tools, and visual storytelling. Get the most out of your smartphone photography without spending thousands on equipment.

Introduction to Microsoft Excel will show you how to create and edit basic worksheets and workbooks. You will gain the skills needed to create, edit, format, and print basic Excel worksheets.

Learn to work with large worksheets; using print titles, headers and footers, hyperlinks, conditional formatting, formatting tables, sorting and filtering, removing duplicates, using and managing named ranges, creating and using formulas and functions, converting text to columns, concatenating data, using csv files, and creating simple charts.

This advanced course will focus on using multiple workbooks and analyzing the data. Topics include data consolidation, subtotals, outlines, linking worksheets with 3-D formulas, linking workbooks, using VLOOKUP, creating pivot tables and charts using comments, and protecting and sharing workbooks.

This course is designed for individuals with little to no prior experience with computers, aiming to provide a solid foundation in essential computer skills. Participants will learn basic computer interfaces, how to utilize the internet, email and social media. Class will be held in the computer lab. Seats are very limited.

CPR/EMT/DENTAL

This course will teach you Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association. Students will learn how to recognize and respond to an emergency, learn 1 and 2 person CPR for the adult, child and infant, along with the use of an AED and how to respond to someone who is choking. (No Waivers)

MASSLINKS ONLINE ACADEMY

FREE DESE-funded Massachusetts statewide adult education program. Students can choose from High School Equivalency (GED and HiSet) preparation classes or English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL/ESL) classes. Classes are offered fully online.
