WHO WE ARE

Mouratoglou Scholarship USA

When I was 18, I decided to try and turn professional for one year. After this transition year, I realised that I wanted to balance tennis and studies better. After two years at the Montpellier university, it

Since 1996, at the Mouratoglou Academy, we place equal importance,

energy and focus on the education of our students and the

with a high level of tennis, I had to leave for the United States, and

development of their tennis abilities. Our sport is beautiful, yet tough,

it became one of the greatest experiences of my life.

and the way to the top is tumultuous with no guarantee of success. One of our main goals is to deliver to our students all the necessary tools so they can become successful not only in tennis but in LIFE, because not all of them will pursue a professional tennis career.

5

Our Scholarship USA program is a fantastic way to combine a high level of tennis with a high level of studies. The United States is very supportive to athletes through the scholarships system. We feel we have an important responsibility towards both students and parents that put their trust in us. We are committed to taking care of you and getting you the right university and the right scholarship. Even after leaving to the United States, you will always be welcome here, “at home”. Of course, we will stay in touch with you until the end of your studies and beyond, when your professional life starts. Good luck!

I joined the University of South Florida in 2011. I first graduated with a Bachelor in Management, then with a Master in Business Administration. I’m extremely grateful for this experience. It allows you to meet people from different cultures, but also to learn how to work in teams, something that is much valued in the United States. Traveling throughout the United States, across major States such as California, Florida, New York, Chicago or Washington, is extraordinary of the experience. My role is not only to find a university for each student athlete, but to find the right university according to every individual profile. Furthermore I also assist them throughout the whole process in light of their personal profiles.

Guillaume’s test scores and tennis ranking were not high enough to get into a Division 2 school. He decided to take an extra year at the Academy to improve his ranking to have more options in the US.

An excellent student, Melati was looking for a top 40 university academic-wise. Her tennis level was not quite good enough to enter the most prestigious US universities on a full scholarship, while her GPA was high enough. Therefore, Melati decided to lower her expectations but was still accepted into a top 80 university academic-wise on a full scholarship.

“The college life is really busy, but I am adapting really well. Academic-wise, I am also doing really well, so I have to keep it up this way. The tennis level of the team is pretty strong overall; I only need to get my spot in the line-up now! On another note, the coach is also very motivated and very good. The university is just huge and awesome! I am so grateful for this opportunity to get into Lindenwood University. As far as the language is concerned, I am getting more and more confident with speaking, and I should improve very fast from now.”

“The team is getting along well and the studies are going well too. I’m pretty much settled and adjusted to the schedule. I have my first exam tomorrow and we have our first tournament next weekend, so it’s starting to get busy. The coaches are great and I’m really happy I picked Miami!”

PROFILE:

Alexandra wanted to find a school with a great balance tennis and academic-wise. The location was very important to her. She decided to pick Nova Southeastern University, which matched all the required criteria: great balance between tennis and school and located in Florida. She could not get a full scholarship as her ranking was a bit too low for a top 30 university in Division 2.

Alexandre’s goal was to find a school where golf was going to be a priority, given he wants to turn professional after graduating. His very good golf results meant he got multiple offers. However, his very low TOEFL score was low was the main issue and limited his university options. Thanks to his strong level in golf, we were able to find him a very good program.

“I really like it here! I love my team! This weekend, we’re going to our first ITA tournament in Georgia. It’s a lot of work with what I’m studying, but all in all I really like it here.”

“Everything is going so well! I’ve settled down in the golf team well, and I am just back from my first tournament. I am leaving again this weekend for another one! Classes are going well too, I got pretty good grades so far. I am really happy! Thanks again!”
