5 Must Haves before You Rent an Apartment You know you have a long list at hand when you first prepare to move out of the college dormitory into your first real rental apartment. You know you are on your own to make decisions and be financially

so

make sure the list covers your essentials and a couple of luxury items. However, with all the shopping and packing, there are a few things that are bound to be forgotten. Thus, I have prepared a list of 5 necessities that have to be done without fail.

1.

Terminate Utilities: Give your landlord a formal notice a month in advance of you moving out. However, if you happen to have a preset contract you may have to pay the outstanding rent before you relocate. Additionally, give notice and cancel all your agreements with your utility service providers, telly, phone companies, and Internet. You can even consider cancelling your bank accounts and insurances.

2. Tool Box: When you are in a dorm you don’t really realise the importance of a tool box till you have to be on your own. For instance, you may be setting up decorations and picture frames, making small amends here and there and tools like hammer, screwdriver, wrench, pliers, some nails and screws would come in handy. You perhaps would laugh it off, but trust me, this little kit will make life much simpler.

3. Storage Container: A rented apartment in Dubai just for you would not be as big as your dorm or your childhood home. Stacking up all your stuff would be a tad bit exhausting making you discard things that are dear to you, thus, you can always invest in huge, resilient plastic containers. You can buy them as per your needs and requirements to store your off-season clothes, linen, books, tools and equipment, etc. 4. First Aid Kit: The first lesson you learn when you go camping or any place away from home is that you have to have a first aid kit with you. Yes, accidents happen, and you should be prepared, always, even when you are relocating. This kit should have a set of tweezers, adhesive bandages, ointment, hydrogen peroxide, medical tape, gauze, rubbing alcohol and gloves. 5. Furniture: Most dorms come with a bed, a small table and perhaps a few chairs. Once you get your own rented apartment you have to arrange for your own stuff, don’t let it disappoint you instead think of all the amazing things you can do with it. Visit a local backyard sale or go to a thrift shop and make the most of it. All the best!
