City in Balance in the coalition agreement “Tourism is part of the international character of Amsterdam and it is something we must continue to cherish. But at the same time we see that the positive sides of tourism, such as job opportunities and income for the city, are being overshadowed by the negative sides. Nuisance, crowds, and waste negatively affect the quality of life in certain neighbourhoods. Monoculture in terms of shops also does not make the city more fun. We need a new equilibrium. In which residents come first while visitors remain welcome.�
