Mientras los árboles susurran historias de dioses y antepasados, varios habitantes de un pequeño pueblo de los Ghats occidentales hablan. Poco a poco, se despliega una historia que abarca a toda la humanidad y su relación simbiótica con la naturaleza. El bosque resulta ser un puente entre el presente y el pasado. As whispering trees pass on stories of gods and ancestors, various inhabitants of a small village in Western Ghats speak. Gradually, a story unfolds that encompasses all of humanity and its symbiotic relationship to nature. Woods turn out to form a bridge between present and past.

Ganadora del Gran Premio en el Festival Internacional de Cine de Melbourne por su película Murmurs of the Jungle y el Directors Guild of America’s Award por su película de tesis Difficult People. Las películas de Sohil se han proyectado en más de 90 festivales internacionales de cine como Rotterdam, Melbourne, Chicago y Raindance. Writer and director based in Los Angeles. He has won the Grand Prix at Melbourne International Film Festival for his film Murmurs of the Jungle and the Directors Guild of America’s Award for his thesis film Difficult People. Sohil’s films have been screened at more than 90 International Film Festivals such as Rotterdam, Melbourne, Chicago, Raindance and Palm Springs.

Tras graduarse de la Academia de Cine de Pekín, en 2019 se trasladó a la ciudad de Nueva York como candidato a un MFA en el programa de posgrado de cine de la NYU. Farewell, My Hometown, su debut como director de fotografía, ganó el premio New Currents durante el 26o Festival Internacional de Cine de Busan en 2021. Su segundo cortometraje, Will You Look At Me, fue seleccionado por la Semana de la Crítica de Cannes 2022. Writer, director and cinematographer born in Wenzhou (China).After graduating from Beijing Film Academy in 2019, he moved to New York City as an MFA candidate for NYU graduate film program. Farewell, My Hometown, his feature debut as a cinematographer won the New Currents Award during the 26th Busan International Film Festival in 2021. Una actriz y una cineasta ensayan un guion cinematográfico. El guion recoge fragmentos del diario que María Dolores González Katarain, Yoyes, escribió durante su exilio en México entre 1980 y 1985, tras haber abandonado ETA, la organización armada que había dirigido. A medida que el guion progresa, destellos y referencias a otras mujeres afloran entre las palabras de Yoyes: Ulrike Meinhof, Simone de Beauvoir, Rocío Díazescobar, Alexandra Kollontai, Tina Modotti. Mientras tanto, afuera oscurece.

An actress and a filmmaker rehearse a film script. The script gathers fragments from the diary that María Dolores González Katarain, Yoyes, wrote during her exile in Mexico between 1980 and 1985, right after she quit ETA, the armed organization she had led for some time. As the script unfolds, glimpses and references to other women gradually emerge amidst Yoyes’ words: Ulrike Meinhof, Simone de Beauvoir, Rocío Díazescobar, Alexandra Kollontai, Tina Modotti. Meanwhile, it gets darker outside.

Lur Olaizola Lizarralde es programadora de cine y cineasta. Es la coordinadora del programa audiovisual de Tabakalera, Centro Internacional de Cultura Contemporánea de San Sebastián, donde ha comisariado, entre otros, el foco “Desde el principio. Historias del cine feminista”. Ha dirigido dos cortometrajes, Xulia (2019) y Zerua blu (2020), ganador del Premio a Mejor Cortometraje Español de ZNIEBI. Su tercera película es Hirugarren koadernoa. Es parte del comité de selección del Festival Punto de Vista. Film curator and filmmaker. She coordinates the audiovisual program at Tabakalera, International Center for Contemporary Culture where she has curated, among others, the focus From the Beginning. Histories of Feminist Cinema. She has directed two short films, Xulia (2019) and Zerua Blu (2020, Grand Award Best Spanish Short Film, Zinebi 2020). Her third film is Hirugarren Koadernoa. She is part of the selection committee of Punto de Vista festival.

Comenzó su carrera como poeta y traductor literario. Su primera y su segunda película Into Thin Air (2011) y Blames and Flames (2012) se estrenaron en el Forum Expanded de la Berlinale y, posteriormente, se proyectaron en más de 30 festivales. Forget-Me-Not Egg (2013) se estrenó en Thessaloniki IFF. Su largometraje documental, Wedding: A Film (2015), se estrenó en DOK Leipzig. Farzad fue doctorando en la film.factory de Sarajevo que dirige Béla Tarr. He started his career as a poet and literary translator. His first and second films, Into Thin Air (2011) and Blames and Flames (2012), premiered at Berlinale’s Forum Expanded and were shown in more than 30 film festivals afterwards. Forget-Me-Not Egg (2013) premiered at the Thessaloniki Film Festival, and his feature documentary Wedding: A Film (2015) premiered at DOK Leipzig. Farzad was a PhD student at Film Factory, Sarajevo, headed by Béla Tarr.

En medio de uno de sus recurrentes ataques de ansiedad, un joven libanés que vive en Bruselas encuentra descanso en una lavandería. Desde el ojo encarnado de una lavadora que gira, le vemos recorrer el lugar junto con su micrófono, impulsado por la obsesión de comprender el origen de su malestar. Una sinfonía de reverberaciones de lavadoras y voces humanas que celebra los encuentros de las personas en lugares cotidianos. In the middle of one of his recurrent anxiety attacks, a Lebanese young man living in Brussels finds rest in a laundromat. From the embodied eye of a spinning washing machine, we see him traveling around the place along with his microphone, driven by the obsession of understanding the origin of his discomfort. A symphony of washing machine reverberations and human voices celebrating encounters of people in everyday places.

Se licenció en Dirección Cinematográfica en la Academia Libanesa de Bellas Artes y luego continuó sus estudios en el Máster Conjunto DocNomads. Este programa le ha llevado por toda Europa, realizando documentales en Portugal, Hungría y Bélgica. Entre sus cortometrajes destacan It’s Just Another Dragon, Sounds of Weariness, Anything Can Happen Now, A Package and A Crane y Encounters On An Uncertain Spring. Lebanese filmmaker based in Beirut. He did a bachelor of Film Directing at the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts and then continued his studies at the DocNomads Joint Masters Degree. This program has taken him throughout Europe, making documentary films in Portugal, Hungary and Belgium. His short films include It’s Just Another Dragon, Sounds of Weariness, Anything Can Happen Now, A Package and a Crane, and Encounters On An Uncertain Spring.

Vitali siempre ha querido ser sacerdote. Sólo le queda una cosa por hacer: según las normas de la Iglesia Ortodoxa Oriental, tiene que encontrar una esposa. A la espera de que llegue el cambio, alquila un piso con un amigo del seminario. Convierten las dos diminutas habitaciones, llenas de libros e íconos en su propio mundo, viviendo más allá del tiempo y de las reglas mundanas. Pasan los años y la familia de Vitali sigue esperando el regreso del sacerdote. Vitali has always wanted to be a priest. There is only one thing left to do, according to the rules of the Eastern Orthodox Church: he needs to find a wife. Waiting for the change to come, he rents a flat with a friend from the seminary. They turn the two tiny rooms filled with books and icons into their own world, living beyond time and mundane rules. Years go by and Vitali’s family is still waiting for the return of the priest.

María empieza a mostrar signos de querer pertenecer a otro lugar: aparecen escamas en su piel, raíces en sus piernas y oye el sonido del agua: sueña con ser un pez. Un día su hija se encuentra con su desaparición y reconstruye, a través del recuerdo de sus gestos y encuentros con su madre, una posible explicación a su huida. Maria starts to show signs of wanting to belong somewhere else: scales appear on her skin, roots appear on her legs, and she hears the sound of water–she dreams of being a fish. One day her daughter comes across her disappearance and reconstructs, through the memory of her gestures and meetings with her mother, a possible explanation for her escape.

Estudió Arquitectura y Fotografía antes de ingresar en la Escuela de Cine de Lisboa, donde se especializó en montaje y dirección en 2004. En 2006, asistió al curso de realización de documentales Ateliers Varan en la Fundación Gulbenkian de Lisboa. Es cofundadora de la productora Terratreme Filmes, una plataforma de cineastas creada en 2008, donde ha desarrollado, junto a sus películas, la labor de productora en la coordinación y seguimiento de proyectos de ficción y documental. Noivo studied Architecture and Photography before joining Lisbon’s Film School, where she specialized on Editing and Directing in 2004. She attended the Ateliers Varan Documentary Filmmaking course in 2006 at the Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon. She is co-founder of the production company Terratreme Filmes, a platform of filmmakers created in 2008, where she has developed, alongside her films, the work as a producer in coordination and monitoring of fiction and documentary projects.

Al unirse a una de las caravanas de migrantes, Dinora llegó a Estados Unidos. Ahora tiene que lidiar con una pulsera de GPS en el tobillo, que le recuerda constantemente que su estancia en Estados Unidos puede terminar en cualquier momento. Esta película se mueve en una fina línea entre la descripción y la representación de la nueva vida de Dinora y plantea cuestiones provocativas sobre el propio cine. Life between waiting and arriving. Joining one of the migrant caravans, Dinora made it to the US. Now she has to deal with a GPS ankle bracelet, constantly reminding her that her time in the US might end at any moment. The film walks a fine line between depiction and representation of Dinora’s new life and raises provocative questions about filmmaking itself.

En 2019, cofundó la productora independiente Majmun Films con sede en Berlín. He grew up between former Yugoslavia and Germany. He studied Cinematography and Directing in Berlin, Havana and Sarajevo. His films have been shown at the official competitions of several festivals, such as Rotterdam, Visions du Réel, Palm Springs, Guanajuato, Busan and DOKLeipzig. In 2019, he cofounded the independent production company Majmun Films based in Berlin.
