Highlights and Actions of the MVMA Executive April 3, 2022 Osage Beach, Mo.
The Missouri Veterinary Medical Association met April 3, 2022 at the Margaritaville Resort, Osage Beach, Mo. The following are highlights. All formal actions were moved and seconded by board members, and all motions carried, unless noted otherwise: • The MVMA Executive Board reviewed and approved the minutes and financial reports of the association. • Approved the budget for 2022-2023 • Heard and approved the candidate slate for vice president and reviewed the At Large Delegate terms and positions. • AVMA Delegate report was given by Dr. Chuck Barry. • Dr. Cliff Miller, Legislative Committee Chair and Ex-Officio on the MVMA Executive Board reported on active legislation of concern for this session including, the practice of veterinary medicine, chiropractic practitioners, mandatory cross-reporting on child abuse, animal research reporting, confiscation of animals, and more. • MVMA Membership App implementation approved and coming to members this fall. • Heard a report of the MU College of Veterinary Medicine by Dean Carolyn Henry which included MVMA representation on the MU CVM Dean’s Advisory Board. • MVMA’s annual financial review by a contracted CPA firm was reviewed. • Dr. Mark Lux’s Scope of Practice Committee requested the board to adopt AVMA’s position on Telemedicine. Missouri Statute on the definition of a current veterinary-client-patient relationship will be sited with publication of the adopted position. • Dr. Falk gave an overview of the membership committee’s co-chair structure bylaws change to be voted on by the membership this summer as well as the bylaws change to the Lifetime membership requirements. (See pages 8 & 23.) • MVMA continues to appeal for a fully up-to-date Missouri Veterinary Medical (Licensing) Board. • Website and social media analytics continue to rise due to the increased presence administered by our Digital Communications and Program Coordinator position at the MVMA office. • Benchmarking survey results are being analyzed by a contracted veterinarian for distribution to membership. • A committee application form will be created to simplify the process to join a committee or task force. • The Strategic Plan that was updated at the April 2022 MVMA Leadership Conference was presented to the board for approval. (See page 16.) • MVMA’s Policy Manual was presented for approval. • Dr. Ed Migneco, Dr. Erica Nowlin and Mrs. Julie Braun attended the virtual MU CVM Accreditation Day. • On behalf of the Wellbeing Task Force, the Code of Contact Flyers were presented to the Board for distribution to membership. • Financial reports were reviewed for the MVMA, LLC and PAC.
