moments from a different perspective often result in the most beautiful and timeless images. When I saw Kurt’s work, I instantly fell in love with his black and white images. His love for art is evident in his stunning photographs. He has the ability to create iconic images as he captures moments throughout a wedding celebration. There are so many factors I love about this image, without exception the composition is perfect. The play of light and dark immediately draw the eye to the bride at the bottom of the stairs. The architectural symmetry adds to the visual interest creating a beautiful photograph.

VERMONT EXPERIENCE

THE NAKED TABLE PROJECT www.shackletonthomas.com Imagine giving a gift that will be remembered long after the ribbons have been untied and wrapping paper has been thrown away and talked about for years. A Vermont Experience is a gift that truly suprises, delights and excites the recipient. Whether it’s watching the sun rise from a hot air balloon, learning to fly fish on a beautiful summer evening, or feeling the adrenaline rush of snowmobiling through the woods of Vermont, your fiance, family, friends, wedding party, guests will be forever grateul for the lifelong memories you helped them create. So whether you need help selecting an exciting gift for your fiancé, wedding party, or the bride and groom or you are looking for exciting Things to Do for your wedding guests while celebrating in Vermont, A Vermont Experience is the perfect place to start your search. Started in 2009 by furniture designer Charles Shackleton, The Naked Table Project brings people together by making tables by hand. The project invites groups of about 15 participants to local workshops to make a plain, simple, contemporary family table. Participants spend their first day assembling, smoothing, and finishing their tables with the help of furniture makers. They then visit the local woods with a professional forester to see the actual source of the lumber and to identify a replacement seedling tree. Each workshop culminates by participants and guests gathering around the completed tables, joined to make one long 75-foot table, for a celebratory, locally grown and prepared feast. Tables are then transported to their life in the participants’ home. Commission your own workshop for you, your fiance, family and friends, and wedding party. What an incredible gift and memorable Vermont experience that you will take home and share with family and friends for years to come.

JOEY

THE INN AT MOUNTAIN VIEW FARM EAST BURKE, VERMONT Photography by Birke Photography

When Joey and I got engaged, I was so thrilled, but had no idea where or how to go about planning the wedding. As a designer, I of course had some pretty specific ideas of how I wanted it to look, but choosing a location was very difficult. Joey was born and raised in Erlanger, KY. I am an army brat, and haven’t lived in any one place for more than three years. However, my extended family is in New Hampshire, where both my parents grew up. For a few months we could not decide, but then a trip to Vermont changed everything. I had researched barns in New England as possible venues, and came up with some great possibilities. Joey and I took a long weekend and visited several locations, but the Inn at Mountain View Farm took our breath away! Suddenly, it made perfect sense. This place had all the country charm of Joey’s native Kentucky, mixed with the casual elegance of my native New England. Also, it reminded me of the place my mother and her 9 siblings were born; on a dairy farm in Quebec that I visited as a child. I couldn’t imagine the wedding being anywhere else. - Kiki

CHARLES

THE LOFT AT SIMON PEARCE QUECHEE, VERMONT Photography by Paige Hiller Photography

My fiance Charles and I knew we wanted a small, intimate wedding celebration in a place which was special to us.

Charlie and his family

have been visiting the Green Mountain State for years and once I joined them on these trips, I fell in love with Vermont instantly.

The simple

charm of the rolling hills and rural communities was just what we were looking for. During a July 4th visit to the Quechee area, we settled on a wedding day of May 12, 2012 and the planning was a breeze from there. We knew our day would be perfect after seeing the Loft at Simon Pearce; how quaint and intimate it is. We fell in love with the rustic yet sophisticated dĂŠcor and were excited that we would be able to incorporate Simon Pearce hand blown glassware into the visual at our wedding dinner. Bottles of Vermont maple syrup completed each place setting and kept with our Vermont theme. Our simple black and white color palette came to life with details of the palest pink flowers, the flicker of candlelight, and the simple elegance of The Loft. Our Vermont wedding was everything we dreamed of and we hope to return to Vermont each year to celebrate our anniversary. - Kalyn

ROUND BARN FARM WAITSFIELD, VERMONT Photography by Orchard Cove Photography

James and I grew-up in rural areas - Pennsylvania and New Hampshire respectively - so we really wanted to have that remote getaway feeling at our wedding. Initally we looked into vineyards, but ultimately fell in love with the idea of getting married on a farm in Vermont. The appeal of the Round Barn Farm for us was the feeling that it was our family farm and we could have most of our family stay with us throughout the wedding weekend. Also, the farm is not only beautiful, but produces and serves only local, sustainable, organic foods - yum. - Sarah

PRIVATE ESTATE STOWE, VERMONT Photography by Landwehrle Photography

C.V. and I had our first date skiing at Stowe resort and then drinks at the Matterhorn. What was meant to be a friendly weekend visit between the two of us turned into an annual tradition of bonfires, beverages and great company with the Daugherty’s, Leswing’s, Keeshan’s and Kravovil’s. Just over “the notch” lies C.V.’s hometown of Jericho, and the beautiful country homestead he grew up on. Today, its bountiful orchard, verdant gardens and majestic maples stand as a symbol of the love and devotion his parents have put into creating a true home for their family, and an example of something for us to strive for. Our friend’s home in Stowe, Vermont was the perfect choice to celebrate our wedding with our family and friends. - Alex

DOUG

THE OLD TAVERN GRAFTON, VERMONT Photography by Hendrickson Photography

Though we grew up four blocks away from each other in our hometown, Doug and I chose Grafton because there is simply no other place like it in the world. Within an hour of our engagement, we knew we wanted to have our wedding in Vermont. The lush natural beauty of Grafton was inspiring to Doug who works as a landscape architect, and the great literary heritage of the Old Tavern spoke to my interests as a professor of literature and writing. Grafton, Vermont was a perfect marriage of our own loves, and we felt incredibly lucky to have our wedding in such an amazing place. Fit with a white steeple church and beautiful early American architecture, Grafton Vermont is suspended in the 19th century. The quintessential New England village provided the perfect small town backdrop for a summer wedding; the town swelled with our closest friends and family and Grafton became our own for the weekend. We also knew that the setting would lend its vintage charm and simple, rustic elegance to the celebrations: we dreamed of mason jars, fresh flowers, river stones, antique furnishings and local Vermont produce in our preparation and all of those pieces came together throughout the weekend. - Kate
