M+ is the new museum for visual culture in Hong Kong. Mobile M+: Yau Ma Tei presents six large installations throughout Yau Ma Tei challenging the layered narratives of the city by seven of Hong Kong’s most engaging artists – Kwan Sheung-chi & Wong Wai-yin, Leung Mee-ping, Erkka Nissinen, Pak Sheung-chuen, Tsang Kin-wah and Yu Lik-wai. The catalogue includes essays on each of the artists’ oeuvre in relation to their installations by leading art commentators such as Koon Yee-wan and Olivier Krischer; a series of comic strips by Li Chi-tak in response to the artists’ proposals; and writings, photographs and archival images documenting the thinking and process behind the works. | Produced by: M+, West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (2012) | Edited by Stella Fong & Shirley Surya |
