VISUAL ARTS HIGH SCHOOL ARC 501 Fall 2008
The visual arts high school located in the Five Points area of Raleigh, NC provides an urban architectural solution to an alternative academic model. Supporting an estimated 300 students, the school would consist of four learning modules that would serve as studio spaces for the visual arts-oriented cirriculum. The four modules are arranged to establish the main gallery facing Glenwood Avenue, the area’s most prominent street.

The stair’s components are minimally composed, consisting of 36-inch long 1/4-inch steel treads contained between two 4-inch steel channels. The treads extend 20 inches beyond the channels to provide display or storage space underneath the stair.
