Nat King Cole Name: Nat King Cole Birth Date: March 17,1919 Montgomery, Alabama Death Date: February 15,1965 (age 45) Santa Monica, California Early life: 1. He moved to Chicago, Illinois and lived in the Bronze Ville neighborhood. 2. At 12, he had lessons to sing at a church were his father was a Baptist minister. 3. He began his performing career in the mid-1930s, still as a teenager. Interesting Facts: • His birth name is Nathaniel Adams Cole. • Cole had three brothers, Eddie, Ike, and Freddy. He also had a half-sister, Joyce Cole. • Cole was one of the first African American to host a variety show on television. The reason why I think Nat King Cole deserves to be inducted into the Black History Hall of Fame is because, I
feel that he worked hard to get were he was. He would sneak out of the house to hang outside the clubs listening to artists, such as Louis Armstrong, Earl Hines, and Jimmie Noone. He also participated in a renowned music program at DuSable High School.
