Project: Creating relationships between interior and exterior spaces, the purpose of this project is to explore the circulations between interactive spaces. Another aspect of the project required precise program arrangement in correlation to the site and solar orientation. Located on the East bank of the Potomac River, on the border of Maryland and West Virginia. The Performing Arts Center sits on a heavily wooded and rocky landscape.

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT Concept: Due to the performing activities of each program and studio spaces, I consciously arranged the programs to effectively adapt to the elements, views, wind and noise respectively. This was accomplished by locating the music studio opposite from the vehicular traffic noise to the north, then enclosing the southern faรงade of the art studio to protect the artworks from sunlight. The dance studio exemplify a symbolic of hierarchy while creating a balance contrast with the open courtyard, amphitheater, western view, and Potomac River.
Interactive Space: The negative spaces created from the program arrangement evolved into an organic interactive spaces for socializing and commodity between each studio. My goal was to centralize the courtyard as the focus interactive space while stationing secondary interactive spaces above and around the courtyard.

LOUVERED WINDOWS
Concept:
Based on an efficient passive solar orientation study, I designed and built a mechanically functioning LOUVERED WINDOW (1’x 1’) which will effectively
control air flow into the shipping container from a passive solar design. During the 2011 ArtScape in Baltimore, MD, my louvered window exemplified the intended design functions while engaging the kids as a fun playful window.

Balancing Thresholds: The cabin required levels of public and private space. A balance was achieved from integrating the cabin to the slope of the site. The site ascended south to north therefore I designed the spaces to transition in a south to north direction. The concept behind the live and work spaces is design to create balance using several forms of contrast. The private space is formal, enclosed, and secluded. Whereas, the public space is asymmetrical and open. However, both spaces shared the outdoor patio/deck and the relaxing mountain view along the east. The cabin was also design to function as a multi-occupation retreat.
