5 Ways in which Florida can Make your Winter Vacation Enjoyable BY BARBARA MISSAKA AUGUST 26th, 2014

Photo: Florida Beach

MANY REGARD FLORIDA as the ideal place to go to during winter vacation. Good food, a deliciously hot sun, great people, and not to mention, DISNEY. As one of the people who has been a testimony of this paradise, I will explain why Florida can just rock your world!

1. A good variety of delicious treats Due to its cultural diversity, Florida offers a lot in terms of food. In just one place, you can have all of the Chinese, Mexican,

Japanese, Brazilian, and even, Patagonian food you want! Personally I really appreciated the Patagonian restaurant, Nahuen. After you try the sweetness of the soft and tasty cream of the media luna, you will definitely understand why.

2. Perfect weather In Florida, the warm sunshine will be the first thing to strike your skin as you leave the airport. I’ve heard from my friends about the place’s ridiculously hot weather, which, actually, makes Florida the perfect place to travel to during winter vacation. If you come from a very cold region, you will experience immense pleasure as you feel the huge contrast between freezing snow and the state’s toasty warmth. Plus, Florida’s weather contributes to its reputation as the perfect place to get a gorgeous tan in many of its wonderful beaches!

3. Shops, shops, and shops Florida, also, exceptionally accomplishes its role as a hot vacation spot which I find amazing! I mean, I could really do some good shopping there! Apart from containing the very popular and desired Abercrombie, Hollister, Aéropostale, and Forever 21, Florida offers many of their products on a very great sale during vacation. I even managed to buy a $200 Superdry jacket for about $46!

4. Good Folks In Florida, you can easily befriend people. I’ve come to know many hilarious and awesome people which made them the perfect pals to always have around me! In addition, I found the service there spectacular, since polite waiters and clerks always seemed to look forward to help me with big, welcoming smiles on their faces.

5. OMG THEME PARKS! And let’s not forget about the marvellous theme parks! Certainly a must, Disney consists of a combination of all of the previously mentioned aspects of Florida. The cheerful and colourful atmosphere makes Disney a pleasant and an ideal place to entertain yourself for almost an entire day. I also digged going to Universal Studios, another of Florida’s attractions with crazy roller-coasters, epic 3D roller-coaster simulations, and many more fantastic amusement rides! Believe me, after going to these two paradises, you will come back exhausted from having so much fun, yet hungry for more of Florida!

The 7 Stages Of Returning to School From Summer Vacation What’s it like to go back to school? Looking forward? posted on Aug 12, 2014, at 9:11 a.m.

Taku Klasukhon BuzzFeed Staff

1. You’re reminded by your mom that school resumes in a week.

Photo: Facebook

Casually enjoying your Summer surfing on the internet, eating, watching TV, and eating again. Thinking that you have weeks and weeks of vacation left until school resumes and suddenly your mom reminds you that you only have a week left of Summer Vacation.

2. Your friends start posting on Facebook about homework.

Photo: gifbay

Some of your “smart” classmates start posting on Facebook asking, “What was the homework for Summer?” The post reminds you about homework intended for completion during the whole of Summer. However, you’ve lost the sheet of paper with the instructions for the homework assignments. “I’m screwed.”

3. You can’t get yourself to start working on the homework.

Photo: tumblr

You managed to ask a friend about the homework. But you insist on enjoying the last bit of Summer instead of working on the homework. At the back of your head, the load of homework worries you. “Will I be able to complete this in time if I start working on it on the last day of vacation?” You tell yourself that you will start working on the homework tomorrow, but you end up putting it off for another day.

4. You try to sleep before midnight.

Photo: gifbay

When you set your alarm in order to wake up for school tomorrow, you realize how early you have to wake up. Hence, you try to get to sleep early on the last day of school to wake up early but you’re unable to sleep because it’s not midnight yet.

5. You feel wide awake meeting your friends and enrolling into new classes.

Photo: reactiongifs

You feel awake on the first day of school meeting friends and getting into new classes. You get a false sense of security, feeling that the classes this year are quite “chill” because you literally do nothing the first week of classes. You even are super motivated to finish your homework the moment you get home, telling yourself that this year will be better than last year.

6. Homework piles up on your to-do list.

Photo: tumblr

By the time you reach the second week of school, you realize that things are not the way you expected it to be. But you still plough your way through the workload in hope of it to decrease after completing the first wave of works.

7. How many weeks of school do I have left until the next vacation?

Photo: reactiongifs

Without a single cool down period from previous assignments, you receive your next assignment. Everyone starts complaining about the overwhelming workload but the teacher responds that high school only gets more difficult and the work they’re giving pales in comparison to college.

Enjoying Boston in 5 Steps: Here’s some of the many things you can experience within the Bostonian limits

1. Be a historian!

By Giovanni Turra

History is an imperative characteristic of the Bostonian surroundings. Spend some time to check out the statues of the founding fathers such as George Washington and Paul Revere, or make your way to the Boston Cemetery to pay Ben Franklin’s parents respect. The years of America’s most important city is represented in town halls and multiple visual concepts that you must not let slip by.

2. Have some fun or spend that money!

If history bores you, Boston is a rich center of entertainment. Take your time (and money) to places like the Prudential Mall, Quincey Market, Boston Commons and Blues House for a night (or evening) of relaxation with music or a frantic shopping spree.

3. Don’t need no education?

No wonder Boston is so well designed! The city houses many of the world’s top colleges and universities ranging from Harvard to MIT. There are various

campus tours that go around from time to time. Join in to experience the life of a university thinker.

4. Learn how not to go hungry!

Food is one of the great things Boston to offer. Being influenced by multiple European cultures, the gastronomical value of the city is definitely on high ground. For an Italian taste of homemade pasta accented with fine wine, visit Little Italy. For an American made, cheese-full pizza, check out Regina’s Pizza in central Boston. If time is running out and you want a quick bite to eat, there are various small pubs and bars around Boston that offer well-season finger food.

5. Make sure you’re cheering for the right team!

Home to the New England Patriots, Boston Celtics, Red Sox and the Bruins, sports plays an important role in the lives of many Bostonians. There are several dates around the calendar that open the gates of the major stadiums such as Fenway Park or the Gilette Stadium for thousands of fans to root for their teams (and root against other teams; usually New York ones). Boston has a rich history regarding each of its teams, holding important titles and legendary players like Babe Ruth of the Red Sox and Tom Brady of the Patriots. Make sure you get your tickets soon, since sports seasons are a hectic time in the port city!

5 Things That Can Only Be Done in Toronto by Bruno Abrao Having been to Toronto in these past vacations, there are several things I could say are the best attractions in the city that makes it so different from the average metropolis filled with skyscrapers.

1. Traverse the 29 km long mall underground

Photo: Rick Davey Toronto has an insanely large mall that runs through a tunnel underground, built due to the extreme temperatures during winter. It also keeps the streets clear during the summer since there is so much available down there when compared to the city itself.

2. Go up the CN tower

Photo: Joanne T. Lauzon Standing at 500m tall is the CN tower. It’s one of the worlds tallest tower and it has a magnificent 360 view of the entire city. And in the end, if you’re feeling a bit suicidal, there’s an attraction called the edge walk where you can walk around the outside of the tower while held by a rope.

3. Explore the waters around the world in the aquarium

Photo: Best of Toronto The aquarium is situated right next to the CN tower, so if you´ve had enough of being up in the clouds, you can take a dive to the depths of the sea. While not being the only one in the world, this aquarium is unique since it features an incredible variety of different species of fish, not limited to just the sea, but also from places all around the world, like the amazon, Africa, and India. It is advised that this place be visited at abnormal times as it tends to get crowded.

4. Sail around the Toronto Islands

Photo: Jess Huddleston Just a couple of minutes outside of the aquarium is where you can take a look around the Toronto Islands, where Toronto’s yacht club is. The islands can only be entered if you have a yacht of your own, but there is a boat that goes around it so you can take a look at what it looks like around the islands. On the way around it, there are several boats with comical names like Chicken Soup VI, which give a certain personality to the people that live there.

5. Take in the view of the Niagara Falls

Photo: Niagara Falls State Park Niagara Falls is an hour away from Toronto, right at the border between Canada and the U.S. It might not be one of the greatest falls in the world, but it allows you to get up close in a boat, and get soaked by the insane amount of water that´s falling from it every second. It is also refreshing since Canadian summers are incredibly hot.

3 Places in Seoul You Should Visit During the Weekends By Jaewon Cho

After tiring weekdays of working and studying in Korea, you wake up around 9-10 in the morning on Saturday. You need some time for a break. As you look out the window, the street is already filled with people moving places to places. You decide to get out for some fun. Here are the 3 most popular places you can visit and have pleasurable time. Feel like doing bit of everything?

Then Gangnam is the place for ya. Korea’s manhattan,Gangnam is known for having lots of skyscrapers and huge roads. Because of this, you’ll always see this place filled with people and cars. Keep calm, and look around. There are shopping malls, karaokes, billiard place, restaurants and much more in Gangnam. Don’t panic and try them one by one. Usually, Koreans shop for a bit, drink a fruit smoothie from Smoothie king or Jamba juice, go to karaoke and sing their favourite songs for an hour or two, play billiard for an hour, and then eat dinner. If you are to follow this standardized Korean schedule you’ll be busy and having fun the whole time.

Does quieter place with indie bands sound good to you?

Shinchon seems to be the place for you then. Shinchon is where one of the Korea’s “ivy league”, Yonsei university is located. Along with Yonsei there are several other well known universities too. You can look around, enter university and feel Korean university’s atmosphere. Occasionally, Universities invite famous Korean singers to celebrate or start a festival. You can enter and have the chance to feel the Korean vibe. If you are more of a indie band person, just look for a group of people standing. Join them and listen to free high quality music.

How about Korean Disney land?

Jamsil district can help you with that. There is a huge shopping mall and a theme park in Jamsil called “lotte world”. So you can basically enjoy shopping and a theme park at the same time. Unlike the two “mice” that you’ll commonly see in the Disney land, the two mascots in lotte world are racoons. Make sure to take a photo with them in front of the lotte world castle to get some likes from Koreans on facebook. Furthermore, inside the lotte world, there are huge spa swimming pool and ice skating rink too. If you are tired of walking and riding roller coasters, take some time to relax in the spa swimming pool. Now, you won’t have to worry about what to do during the weekends!

5 Unconventional Things To Do in South Florida

1. Explore different beaches. Instead of fighting your way through a tourist-infected day in South Beach, explore the coast north of Miami. Delray Beach is a perfect place to start. The beach is a great place to chill because there are far less people around. Another must is Hollywood Beach, just south of Delray. Both spots also offer food, entertainment, and relaxation.

1. Take public transportation. In Miami if you don’t rent a car, you are pretty much stuck in one neighborhood, but thanks to the Metro system you can explore a variety of neighborhoods like Coconut Grove, Coral Gables, Downtown Miami, and Sunset Drive. They are always on time, super quick, and even offer free WIFI!

Plus, you can enjoy an amazing view of the city!

1. Visit Sunset Place. It’s a very cute spot down in Sunset Drive where there are shops, cinemas, restaurants and lots of live music. It’s mostly a hangout spot for the younger crowd because it offers safety and preteen entertainment. The adults who go there, usually hit the bowling alley/bar while their kids are either at the movies, eating, shopping or just hanging out listening to the bands that present there.

Photo: Mcbridedesign.com

1. Go shopping at Nordstrom Rack. When Latin American tourists fly to Miami they immediately head to the big malls like Aventura, Dadeland or Sawgrass Mils in search of good deals. What tourists don’t know is that they can get excellent deals at their local Nordstrom Rack. It’s smaller, so you can find what you need faster. Nordstrom Rack has top quality items and many well-known brands.

Photo: Miami.com

1. Go to Green Street. Don’t miss Whiskey Wednesdays at the Greenstreet Café Coconut Grove. Whisky shots go for half the price on Wednesday nights, drawing a crowd of young adults from all over South Florida. Of course the Café doesn’t offer just whisky, the food there is also delicious! Try the barbecue chicken wing with a side of sweet potato oven baked French fries. You will be coming back for more. Don’t over dress, the atmosphere is very casual. A checkered shirt, jean shorts, and flip-flops will do. You’ll be sure to find many teens and young adults having a great time, especially during the summer.

Photo: Tripadvisor.com

1. Have lunch at the Las Vegas, the Cubano Restaurant. This is a must if you are traveling on a budget. This tiny restaurant in Hallandale offers healthy meals at very low prices during lunch hours. The grilled snapper with a side of vegetables is just what you need after a day at the beach.

THE EXPERIENCE OF BEING 5 FOOT 2 IN THE WORLD CUP FINAL BY MARINA FRANÇA AUGUST 12, 2014

THE CHEERING SOON STARTED, but being a short Brazilian surrounded by tall and jumpy German people was not an easy task. Before the game The perfect place to be is in a small college town called Münster. Excitement was everywhere, represented though flags, people dressed in black, yellow and red. We went to a big opened area in front of one of the hundreds of restaurants, which opened their doors to receive German fans during the World Cup final. It was partially empty when we got there, but not even ten minutes later, the place was filled

with six-foot high people speaking in that extremely intriguing and amazing language (which I am now craving to learn) called German. Seeing the big screen at the front during the opening show was no longer an option and leaning on taller people will definitely become an option. One of the things, which amazed me the most, was the energy all the fans had. Germany had not won the World Cup in twenty-four years and knowing that they were so close to their fourth title was truly something worth cheering for. During the game The tension during the game cannot be described in words. Large young men were tearing up and tall girls biting their nails. Good luck finding a nice little place from which you can see the big screen. Indeed a hard task, however, not impossible to accomplish. The game went into additional time and after an annulated goal from Argentina, the hope was back up. Flags were waving, food was selling but the nervous vibe was still in place. The Goal

Well, it’s not necessary to say that all short people present almost feel to the floor when Germany scored. The experience was unbelievable. All of those who have the chance of watching the final game in the favourite country to win will have the privilege of feeling like an outsider, but at the same time, as Gustavo$Toledo$ one of the people surrounding you. Feeling part of a larger group, sharing the same happiness is a participation all adrenalin fans must have. After the game I was feeling as happy as they all were. The city was an incredible, huge party. They met at one of the central city areas; it was so full of people, that crossing took at least twenty minutes (when it usually took five). I got back to my cousins’ house and went to sleep, thinking of how I had not only seen history, but I had lived in it. Simply amazing. $ $ $ $ $

THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO FAMILY VACATIONS BY MARINA SILVEIRA AUGUST 12, 2014

TRAVELLING THE WORLD with parents and siblings scares everyone! Did the “perfect daughter” forget how to share a hotel room? Or did the trip planner forget to include time for shopping? This means a full family trip is overdue…

“One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.” – Henry Miller

LOCATION Take the chance to explore a new place. Let the landscape or skyline captivate you during the sunset. Travel not to see everything of a location, but to cherish what you experience and to wish to visit again. Participate in choosing the destination to avoid complications. For example, many different stops – as in a road trip – mean packing and unpacking constantly. Travelling long distances a bigger time zone difference and less time to talk to your friends back home. People and danger plague metropolises; while cell phone connection or Wi-Fi might elude the countryside.

BEFORE THE TRIP First, research common tourist sites (and the best shot for the Instagram picture everyone will mention). For unconventional activities, tell your friends about your trip. After all, you know you can trust them on the best beach in South Florida or shopping mall in Seoul. Always pack lightly. I go by the motto, “whatever I don’t take with me, I can buy a new one there.” I know I shouldn’t take all of my favorite shirts, or three black dresses and a skirt without a matching top for The situation you wish to avoid. it… Trust me (1) your Photo: Planning-Fun-Road-Trips parents and siblings will appreciate it and (2) there’ll plenty of room left for all the new shopping items.

ACTIVITIES Embarrass yourself (and your siblings) by taking tacky pictures in common sightseeing landmarks. When in Paris, sit on the grass by the Eiffel Tower and try to act French. In New York, blame the city’s hustle and bustle to the

president being in town or to a United Nations’ very important meeting. Look for celebrities in L. A.; even if you don’t recognize one, try to guess who someone surrounded by bodyguards could be. At the beach in Rio de Janeiro, participate in the daily ritual of clapping to the sun when it sets. Have you considered that you have 24-hour tour guides in family trips? Your parents! Don’t want to spend hours in the Louvre in Paris (you know the one with the Mona Lisa)? See their favorite artworks and then take a stroll by the Seine… Parent-guides win when it comes to choosing a place to eat. Although the Internet has a billion options and ratings, your parents always seem to have the perfect restaurant suggestion for your cranky moments. On the other hand, don’t be afraid to do your own thing sometime. Give your parent’s a night off from the “kids” and explore the nightlife. Nothing beats the feeling of independence from walking around New York City. And if you ever feel like not travelling, maybe check out these inspirational travel quotes.

Thomas Vasconcelos English 12 Mr. Campbell Written Task

How to enjoy the most out of your 3 week trip to the United States. If you are planning on going to the U.S and worried about not having much fun for being underage, don't panic! The U.S has much more to offer than only going to bars and partying in the clubs and it shouldn't be too hard to have an AWESOME trip around this beautiful country.

This summer vacations I went to Orlando, Florida with a friend of mine, and I ended up enjoying my stay there much more than I thought I would, the accommodating and easy-‐going city, allows you for as much as ordering Papa John's at pretty much any time during night and day to watching a Baseball game with your friends for only $2 dollars. You will pretty much feel at home there. Although partying all the time when you reach your adolescent years is a must, things like these could definitely make your time in the U.S territory much more pleasant, when you haven't yet reach your golden 21 years of age.

Experiencing the magic of Universal Studios, Island of Adventures and Disney theme parks. C'mon really? But Disney is for 12 year olds... Oh no you didn't... Clearly the person saying this has no clue on what he/she is talking about, or just simply haven't visited the new Harry Potter attraction down Universal Studios. An unbelievable experience in which you just feel like you might run up into Harry and Hermione at any point, because it just feels so real. Getting into the Hogwarts express (train) and travelling from one park to the other staggers people from all ages. Not

Thomas Vasconcelos English 12 Mr. Campbell to leave behind of course, attractions like the ''Rock-it'' and ''Hulk'' roller coasters, that will simply just blow your mind and soul away. Another awesome feature is the wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon. Where you can go and surf for hours with your friends, as long as you rent the pool. Just don't swallow the water though. The water there is very chlorinated for a reason...

Visiting college institutions and their campuses. It comes a time in your high school years in which you have to decide which university you want to apply to and maybe spend the next 4 years of your life in. After visiting Boston City, you are just going to make up our mind right away and will want to apply to many of it's colleges immediately. The university town is just so diverse and offers so many options that you might want to just leave school and stay there as they give off the campus tours. Which I shouldn't even mention the amusement one feels walking down Harvard's for example, a place where people like president JFK, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg and so many others have once stood and made their way into success.

Go to beaches like Miami, Sarasota, Clean Waters.

Especially if during the summer, you really want to visit one of the beaches above. Transparent water, white sand, handsome people, hot climate, refreshments and much more, what also could you possibly ask for?

The Ultimate short-term Summer Camp

Many students from all around the world want to have the famous summer camp experience, but many get very confused and undecided to with one to apply. You want to find a perfect mixture of exposure to college life, entertainment, meeting new people, and getting to know the city you are in? Boston's University Summer Challenge is the perfect combination. Friendships and Cultural Experience First of all you have a lot of time to meet new people. During your time there you will engage in activities to get to know everyone better. The biggest challenge in the first days was to remember everyone's names because I ended up meeting 10 new people a day! Having people from all around the globe in the same place as you is an experience so

unique that by itself would be a reason to go to this summer camp. You certainly make friends that you carry on for life.

Food What about the food!? Well, BU has certainly sorted that out. Once you get in the cafeteria there are 5 different types of food from which you can chose from. It varies from hamburgers to natural sandwiches, from pizza to pasta. There are also 2 kinds of meat or chicken, ending up with a big table of desserts.

Sports and Fitness Well, after all this food how would you burn does calories? BU has a 28,000 square feet Fitness Center. There are pools, basketball courts, futsal courts, a track for running, squash courts, yoga, any imaginable machine or equipment and much more. There is also an official soccer and baseball field right behind the FitRec.

Entertainment There are all sorts of things to do in Boston, and being at BU exposes you a lot of it. Right on the corner of the Warren Towers (dorm), is Fenway Park, the Boston Red Socks' home. Less than 2 miles away there are movie theaters and shopping opportunities. If you are very in to shopping, go to Newbury St. There you will find the best brands and many nice restaurants. Close to that you Prudential Center, which works like a shopping mall, also with plenty of pleasant restaurants. If you are looking for fine or fancy dining you should go up all the way to the Top of the Hub restaurant, located at floor 51 of the Prudential Center, where you will have a holistic view of the city. There is also the famous Museum of Fine Arts and easy cheap transportation to all places in the city. The best thing, your free time during the summer camp will allow you to go and experience all these places! Just remember to be back by curfew!

A Week In Boston Whenever you go to Boston, be sure about one thing, and one thing only: be ready to get your mind blown. Why? Because of simple things, that you would not expect to be so amazing, things that you don't give much value, but this time, you will. Boston, a place full of history. First, think about the Boston Tea Party, then think about first university founded in the United States of America, Harvard. Think about one of the best baseball teams in the country, the Boston Red Sox. Think about the amazing cannolis you can get in little italy. Think about the movie Ted. Think about my brother who lives there. Think about Boston, the collegiate city, the city full of expectations, the city full of ideas, the city full of great minds, the city full of people ready to take the world, the city full of people ready to make a difference, think about a city full of colleges and universities, a city holding the future of humanity. Oh, and think about the Boston Marathon, the marathon where the terrorist attack took place, the bomb that exploded in the middle of the crowd near the finish line. When you go there, don't forget to visit the gigantic shopping mall, Prudential, don't forget to visit 5th Avenue's cousin from the north, Newbury Street, don't forget to visit the Museum of Science, don't forget to visit Fenway Park, don't forget to go and actually visit Harvard, and buy a sweatshirt, hear about the secret fraternities that might not actually exist. Stop and think now, why should I go visit Boston and not New York, for example. Well, I have been to Boston, more than once, and I would love to keep on going there, because it is a city of dreams, a city where you may find hope. But Boston has the best of both worlds, the colleges and the parties. You may go to a club there, which I have been to, called Bijoux, which is awesome, but you just can't compare that to the after parties, which might just be the perfect party. And if you really like to party, you should go to some college parties, said to be incredible too, and very hardcore, a place where you will, most certainly, get yourself out of this world. Going back to the colleges, I visited some last summer, they are Babson College, Boston University, Northeastern University, Bentley University, and Suffolk University. The first one I went to visit was Babson College, a business college, only focused on entrepreneurs and business men, and their goal is to make you the future owner of a Fortune 500, but I did not feel totally comfortable in their campus, so I just took them out of my list of colleges - still, a beautiful place. Second college I went to, Boston University, which again, did not make me feel comfortable at all, because of it's huge university, with about 20,000 undergraduates, and their campus in the middle of the city, alongside the Charles River. Third I went to, Bentley University. Well, this one, this one is amazing, I was totally amused by everything in it, the courses, the campus, the life, I really felt like I belonged there, a University that was primordially founded on finance and accounting only for men, which of course, made it to the top of my list of colleges. The fourth was Northeastern University, I mean, I don't really know what to say, because I liked it, but not that much, still, a great college, so, let's leave it like this. The last one, of course, to make it to my list, Suffolk University. Even though it has a city campus, I felt good there, again, like I belonged, a place where I feel like I could get in, yet, more of a safety choice where I know I will be happy anyway. So if you go to Boston, don't forget about these little things that you can do while you are there. And, of course, go and say hi to my brother at Harvard.

4 ESSENTIAL THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE GOING ON EXCHANGE

#1 It’ll Be Difficult: !

No matter what people tell you, no matter how easy people (especially your exchange company) say it will be if you get mentally ready for it and start preparing for it, as soon as that plane takes off to wherever you are going, the “oh my God what am I doing?!” thought comes into mind. You soon get to wherever you are going and realize that the trip was the easiest part and the airplane the safest place you’ll be at for the next couple of days.

#2 Your Host Family Will Be Weird: ! No matter how many e-mails and calls you exchange with your family before you get there, it’ll be weird. Let’s face it, you don’t know these people, they don’t know you. None of you have any idea of what the other likes and doesn’t like, and yes arguments will come up and flare up very quickly. The first week will be very tough, they’ll impose rules you are not necessarily comfortable with. However, after the first week is done you should be able to talk to them about it and have somethings changed. As time goes by you will get closer to each other and by the time you have to leave it’ll be as leaving your own parents again!

#3 The Climate Changes Will Be Tough: ! This is especially true if you are going from a tropical or warm climate country to a cold or miserably cold country. Snow is fun, but after the third week of winter and having to wake up at 6am to shovel snow out of your garage door, and walking to school in one and a half meters of snow, you begin to get tired of it. The message here is “pick your country with climate in mind, it should be a part of your list”!

#4 You Will Make New Friends, Just Be Ready to Leave Them: ! No one is telling you to forget the friends you have at home, just keep in mind that you will make new ones wherever you go, and leaving these new people can be something that will hurt you quite a bit, especially because they are most likely not even from the same country as you, so seeing them again is going to be very complicated. You can mentally prepare for this, but it’ll still hurt a lot when time comes. http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/9c/20/5c/9c205c04a8c1812c580f3b516111dd40.jpg http://blog.luxuryretreats.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/Whistler-Inukshuk.jpg

the

museums serve as a viable and enjoyable option for entertainment and tourism. If you

are

a fan of water color painting, you might enjoy the Museum of Aquarel located only 20 minutes away from the city. The weather in Gothenburg is also really varying. 18. Once, to try to play basketball and be discouraged by all the actual college boys.

17. Twice, to check out those college boys. Subtly, of course.

16. And three times, just to say it wasn’t a waste. I swear mom, I TRIED to work out. I can’t help it if I have a slow metabolism.

15. Try EVK once. And for the love of God, ONLY once. Everybody’s Kitchen AKA Everybody’s Got Food Poisoning

14. Try the USC Waffles: The only decent thing at EVK If you think you won’t be able to eat a full one, don’t panic after your third.

13. Enjoy Yogurtland before it’s too late. Yogurtland: Not just yogurt, but a lifestyle.

12. Spend at least 6 out of 7 afternoons at Fresh and Easy. Don’t be surprised when you realize you’ve spent over $200 on actual food. In one month.

11. Don’t go to the baseball field. What happens at the baseball field, DOES NOT STAY IN THE BASEBALL FIELD.

10. Order Domino’s after curfew. Especially if you really want to make your RAs hate you.

9. Have a dorm party. This basically consists of 5 of your friends jumping around in a circle to Avicii.

8. Find Armando’s. Even if you don’t like Mexican food, look for it just so you can say that you found it.

7. Go to the bookstore. Buy as much USC gear as you can possibly fit in your bag.

6. On that note, learn to consider online shopping your best friend. As long as you don’t want to risk getting kicked out for leaving campus.

5. Enjoy Disneyland. Kids aren’t the only ones who enjoy it, I promise you. Take advantage of those free fast passes!

4. Eat at the Campus Center Lemonade, Panda Express, California Pizza Kitchen, Habits, and Verde all exist for one reason: That moment when your stomach can no longer handle EVK.

3. Spend all of your money and try to survive off of EVK cake. All your nutrients will come from your 6 daily slices of cake. After all, dairy has its health benefits, right?

2. Chipotle. Does this even need an explanation?

1. Spend time in the Quad. The perfect place to play sports, get tan, do work, and maybe even break a few rules. But above it all, in the Quad you will meet and hang out with the friends that you will cherish for life. The truth is, nothing can quite compare to the Trojan family.

Why you shouldn't Miss Ann Arbour if you go to Michigan.

Photo by: epicportions Photo by:scdlifestyle Photo by: parkscout

Photo by: wikimedia Photo by: lambdachi During my 16 days in Michigan I stayed at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbour and it was a unforgettable experience that I wish I could go back in time and repeat everything again. I live in a really big city that is Sao Paulo, Brazil and to go to a small city like Ann Arbour was actually much better. For these days I lived with people from all over the world in Couzens Hall, located in the center of the University.

REALLY GOOD RESTAURANTS THAT YOU CAN EAT BIG TO GET BIG The bomber is an option to take a really big and good breakfast. An old school restaurant place that was opened before the second world war and it is still there! In the restaurant the majority of the people are old people and you can see in their faces that they are very happy eating their food by remembering an old traditional breakfast, the most famous order that the restaurant has is the Bomber breakfast which is a three pound plate with 12 slices of bacon, 6 eggs and a lot of hash browns which obviously was the breakfast that I ordered and even though is not so good for the health it was worth it. Another really good restaurant was the mongolian barbecue which is place where you pay $17 dollars eating as much food as possible, this place is really awesome because in the center there is a huge panel where everything is prepared, continuing you choose numerous types of meat such as crab, chicken, steak, also you create a salad and a personalized sauce. After filling your bowl you give the plate to a men with really big spatules so that he can prepare everything in front of you in this awesome panel. An interesting fact is that everyday after leg workout me and my friends went there to have a really good solid post-workout meal.

ENTERTAINMENT LEVEL EXPERT Ann Arbour provided many great places to have fun and, one of these places was going to the Big House stadium which is the biggest stadium in the USA, suprasses them all. The Big House is very pretty, organized and clean which is the complete opposite from stadiums here in Sao Paulo;; I dint had a chance to watch any game in there but in the tour I went inside, on the field and it was such a good sensation to look at everything from the players point of view and imagine playing in there with everybody cheering in this giant stadium. Furthermore another place that I went with my summer discovery program was to Cedar Point that is a park filled with roller coasters and that was actually the first time that I went in a roller coaster which was quite exciting and scary experience. After being three hours in there I got the courage and went to the dragster roller coaster which is the fastest one in the world hitting a 120mph in a 90 angle falling degree, after going there I was in shock and I could not believe that I was in this crazy roller coaster and, of course I bought the pictures because my face in the roller coaster was epic!

4 ESSENTIAL PLACES IN KOREA

Although KOREA seems to be small, it has diverse activities that you can enjoy moreover, it gives you an advantage that you can travel everywhere in a short time period by only taking a bus or subway. Moreover, since it has four definite seasons, not like Brazil, it provides so many things that you can do during only one specific season. Each season has its own food to eat, places to go, and activities that you can do! When you think about Korea, I know that you only might think of Seoul, our capital. It deserves to have a title of best touring city since it makes you remind New York due to its crowdedness and has lots of lights like Hong Kong thus many tourists love Seoul. However, the secret of Korea comes when you notice that you can across the whole country in 6 hours maximum! So, don't just stay in Seoul, go out to other cities, country sides, beautiful beaches and amazing mountains! Experience different types of people with different accents and personalities! AND the most important thing, don’t forget to eat delicious Korean FOOD! As I said above, you can visit everywhere within few days, but to make your plan easier I will give you some spots that you cannot miss! #welcometoKorea 1- Namsan Tower

In Seoul, tourists love to visit Namsan Tower and you can get there by only taking a cable car. It will give you a wonderful sight when you go upper and especially at night. On the top of the tower, you will reach a fantastic sight of whole city of Seoul! Also, I will give you another tip. If you go there with your friend, lover, or family, you can buy a lock, write something memorable, hang it to anywhere, lock the locker, and throw the key away. It means that you will never be apart with the person that you locked the locker together unless

you find the key that you throw away. So this place would be a wonderful spot to come with your lover since it has romantic view and activity! 2- Caribbean bay

People consider Caribbean Bay the most famous water park in Korea! It provides you an enormous waving pool, the coolest water slides, and it will definitely make you feel amazing! Fortunately, the biggest amusement park located right beside, so you can enjoy the water during the day and at night, you can play in a wonderful amusement park! Be prepared, the time to show your body will come! 3- Daehak-ro

Daehak-ro, a street in Seoul, has a meaning of street of culture and art! Most of college-aged people adore this place and therefore, you can also call it as street of youth. I bet that you will definitely become super hyper when you get here because you will find so many good restaurants, bars, clubs, and other places where you can have so much fun! Also, you can see many pretty and creative drawings on the walls and also, most importantly, many unknown musicians plays their music in the middle of the street, which explains the name, street of culture and art!

4- Han Ok Town

A perfect place to visit for the foreigners would be Han Ok Town because you can experience the tradition of Korean culture. Han Ok Town resembles a museum because the government preserves the actual traditional things such as houses, furniture, walls, and streets to show Korean traditional culture to people. In this town, everything involved Korean culture, so you can try traditional food and cloth, also more importantly, you can see and touch the actual houses, walls, floor, furniture, and statues!

World Cup

The World Cup 2014 was opened by Brazil. Different countries and players worked hard as they can and the most exciting sports event took many audience with it. It was ended up with Germany’s win. Some Brazilian’s passion for world cup cooled dawn after Brazil lost. Even though I think the final was one of the greatest game I ever seen. As the world cup 2014 had finished with success, I want to go over how Brazil organized world cup.

Sao Paulo I used metro which is subway to get to Sao Paulo stadium for watching World Cup. Inside the train was clouded a lot, and many supporters screamed to cheer. I felt kinds of danger with those people. When I got to stadium, I thought “Looks great”, for Sao Paulo stadium. However, after I got into stadium and went to seat which is the cheapest one, my opinion changed totally opposite. People used more money on seat which more rich people use. Because of that, when supporter get excited and stand up, my seat trembled. That gave me some fear. I believe this is presenting at the moment of Brazil (disparities and less motivation to achieve goal on time).

Cuiaba -

Transportation

I felt great to use midnight bus. It was low cost and my sleeping time didn’t distracted by a shock. I impressed a lot for transportations. The best thing that I was surprised at progressed transportation from midnight bus stop to stadium and organized way to get stadium. 1 year ago, I went to Belo Horizonte to watch confederations cup, but at that time, it wasn’t organized, so I couldn’t find bus stop which is the bus, of going to stadium, come. And it was same for retuning, too. Compare to this experience, the Cuiaba had better system. -

The locations

Did Cuiaba’s stadium locate right place? I just couldn’t get that part a lot. To get far from center of the town is no benefits and many disadvantages, like more difficult to access. It looks just stupid for me. This question is the most mysterious fact of Brazil World Cup. -

Sight

I think if you go to Cuiaba, then you should look for south Pantanal which locate south of Cuiaba. At there, you can find different kinds of insect, plants, birds and if you are luck you might able to see big animal like jaguar. I strongly recommend a lot to go there. (Please bring insecticide and rain court even it is not season)

I think World Cup can be conclude as a success for at the moment. Many Japanese who came to Brazil said “it was a great trip”. On the other hands, Brazilian citizen need to think a lot about how you keep those stadium and who is going to take care, country? States? People need to find a way to solve and they need to make clear about that soon as possible. Otherwise, Brazilian government might just through them away, like rubbish.

The Caribbean Getaway Essentials in St.Barths The breathtaking caribbean, a destination desired world-widely. Are you ready to face the most popular destination? The charming island of St.Barth's is filled with crystalline water, beautiful places and the best nightlife in the caribbean. Not only to enjoy with your family, but to explore with different people your age from all over the world! The island provides amusing sight-seeings and so many options, but the key places to visit are listed below: 1. Nikki Beach: The most trendy beach, with a restaurant/bar in the entrance. A very good place to spend the mornings and lunch with the family. However, as the sun starts to set, the atmosphere changes, and the restaurant with the beach in front turns into more of a party, with several DJ's, drinks and lights. The public range changes, and you can only spot teenagers and young adults from all over the world, and all types of dressing;; from beach clothes to heels. Usually, you have to reserve a table first, because on weekends it gets crowded and you may need to wait over 2 hours to sit.Or if you prefer, you can just hang around in the beach or in the bar, and enjoy the night!

Source: Access St.Barths

2. Port de Gustavia: A very beautiful yet tiny port, which "stores" boats of all types and sizes. It is both, a marina and a commercial port, and a very good place to stop by on new year's or any other holiday because of it's famous fireworks! Also, mostly for women, the street right in front of the port has some of the most chic stores of the world, including Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Prada, and many others. Not to mention the delicious crèperies and gelateriès that are spread through the street.

Source: Mail Online 3. Eden Rock Hotel: The luxurious five-star hotel located in the beach of St.Jean, with a restaurant on top of a fort which can be the best place to watch the sun go down. Eventhough you are not staying at the actual hotel, I recommend you to visit the restaurant/bar to taste it's delicious menu or just for a sight-seeing. At night, it enhances the whole St. Jean beach, with colorful lights all over the open hotel. By it's side, there are several chique stores, original from St.Barth's with local jewelry and beachwear.

Source: Eden Rock Hotel 4. Le Ti St.Barths: It is considered the "mythical place" of the island, a mark. If you are a teenager, like I am, and love to party, you have found your place! With the most incredible Dj's and the most crazy waitresses, who starts to dance on top of the table and start champagne showers!

Source: Le Ti St.Barths 5. Gustaff III- Airport: The most incredible airport I've ever seen. There is no flight direct to the island, so the easiest way is to get a connection in St.Martin. The reason being is that the airport is so small that only one type of airplane can land there. I recommend you to go and watch a plane land because I promise you you'll be impressed with the closeness of the airplane and the beach before it! It was shocking for me to watch!

SURVIVE SUMMER SCHOOL Step 1: Make sure to pick the right courses The first rule for having fun during your summer school is picking the correct courses. The best advice is to pick something different, you might end up loving it and sticking with it for the rest of your life. There are excellent courses offered at summer schools that are not offered at normal schools like Sports Management or the Business of Fashion. Summer school is meant for you to learn but we always have to keep in mind that learning while having fun is the perfect scenario. Many of these unique courses will give you a real vision of what collage life is like and also open your mind for new opportunities. Step 2: Look for the supply list before going to the camp TAKE BLANKETS AND PILLOWS! Step 3: Sign up for optional activities

One of the funniest things to do with your friends that you’re just meeting is playing mini golf. Playing mini golf or going to laser tag is not something really common in Brazil but when I played it during summer camp I liked it. There are other &

activities that can be created by you and your friends like playing a basketball or soccer pick-up game. These activities are going on is a perfect way to sense the city you’re visiting and what activities their population enjoy. Step 4: Keep your room clean

The amount of time a person stays in the dorm is very small but a dorm gets messy very easily. For the first time without my family I found it hard to keep my room clean. Laundry only gets bigger every day and the more you clean your clothes it seems that you never end. Step 5: Make friends Everyone is scared of not making friends during summer school. We shouldn’t, we need to think that all the other kids going to summer school are also afraid of making friends. The number one rule for making friends during summer school is just being you. There is no point on lying, saying you are the best basketball player that ever lived wont make you any friends. Just be nice and for the first days don’t get to awkward or people will want to avoid you. As time goes on throwing some joke is good and people will start to like you.

¡EL MATADORO!

! !

SPOT A BRAZILIAN

5 WAYS OF IDENTIFYING PEOPLE FROM THE LAND OF CARNAVAL

! ! ! ! ! Photo: Charles Trainor Jr. /Miami Herald/

1. Close your eyes Seriously, it’s that easy. One of the most strikingly apparent feature of the Brazilian people is the volume of their means of communicating. It’s not only the speaking, but also the laughing, calling, whispering and shouting that calls the attention of natives and other peasants. !1

AUGUST 12, 2014

¡EL MATADORO!

2. rule-breaking It's not really as bad as it sounds, but it's quite distinctive. When in doubt or unaware of simple social or behavioural norms, us Brazilians tend to simply assume that the way that best suits our situation is at the very least acceptable. x Be it a “Do Not Step on Grass” sign or mistakingly entering a special line designated for specific costumers or services, we can easily ignore infuriated glances of others, and even the occasional swearing (which we can all understand), but it's much easier to simply abide to the motto “it’s easier to ask for forgiveness than it is to get permission”.

3. Beware of packs While usually wearing matching shirts, signs and sometimes even flags, we love to travel in group. Yes, indeed various other nationalities tend to group travel, but we just can’t keep from stating our travel manners clearly to everyone around us. “Oh, but some Brazilians travel alone to school programs and whatnot!”. Yeah, that may be true, but it does’t mean that after a couple of days all Brazilians will have already formed a group and be hanging out together, loudly speaking portuguese and singing songs from the homeland.

! 4. Shopping spree Traveling for us is not only an opportunity to relax, to enjoy the new experiences and learn with the different cultures. Oh no. Sure, it’s still all that, but it's so much more than that! It’s a time to renovate our outfits. It's the best opportunity we have to buy all those items just getting into the new season on a price that is sometimes one fifth of what we would pay in Brazil. Some may think this would only apply to the US of A, or as it is perceived by most Brazilians: the place where most (desirable) things are cheaper, but in recent years we have been crowding the most exotic touristic destinations, while always looking for a good bargain. !2

6 ways you can enjoy the airport.

1. Arrive there early. Arriving early at the airport is never a bad idea. You can calmly wait for your check-in to open and be that person who is first in line that everyone envies. You might as well be bored at the airport with the reassuring feeling that you won’t miss your flight. Rather than be bored at home and then hyperventilating on your way there because you have one hour before your gate closes. Plus being early gives you a loof time to enjoy the activities listed below.

2. Read magazines for free. There are always magazines that are either super expensive but you love or the ones that you would read but don’t want to bother buying. In magazine stands or bookstores (which are plentiful in airports) you can always find that magazine and spend one hour reading it without purchasing. Of course you have to look like you will eventually buy something so you don’t get kicked out from the store, but there is always enough time to entertain yourself before anyone notices.

3. Eat your last decent meal. Nobody likes airplane food. Those “things” that come inside of the aluminum packages are barely edible. So taking some time in the airport to have a last proper meal is important and if you arrive early enough you can even have space for more than one. After all, airports don’t lack options and there are always many different places that comply to all tastes.

4. Buy the presents you forgot. If you are traveling to see someone, or you are coming back from a trip, you always have to make sure you take small gifts for your WHOLE family, all your friends, and everyone else you know might get offended if you don’t. If you forgot to buy a present for your great-aunt’s neighbor’s dog or just simply forgot to buy the chocolate your brother’s girlfriend asked for you can always find something in the hundreds of stores around the airport. Airports usually have

stores with typical things from your take off or destination country, so you can always buy the present in there and pretend you bought it in the middle of your trip.

5. Duty Free. This is the thing people get most excited about when they’ll travel, sometimes even more excited than the trip itself. There is a lot to see in Duty Free stores which are usually immense and full of imported goods that you can’t find anywhere else with such a good price. It’s nearly impossible to go into duty free and not buy something, even if it’s only a bag of candies. It is very entertaining and tempting store, so you can buy your way out of boredom.

6. Free wifi Airports usually have good wifi, and in the era we live in it’s hard to get bored if you have free wifi and a technological advice. So after you’ve done all of the above, grab a drink, sit down and have fun surfing on the internet.

Welcome to Senior Year, And All The Bad Things That Come With It We went through all high school without really knowing what senior year would be like. Now, we are starting to experience what it is being the Kings and Queens and we are already drowned in work to do. Posted on Aug. 12, 2014, at 9:13 a.m.

Georgia Rios Feola BuzzFeed Staff

Caution: This article may be overwhelming to seniors who are lost in the amount of work to do and worried about their future. Senior year has begun! Brace yourselves that extended essays, CAS, written tasks, internal assessments, IB exams, several projects, and everyday homework are coming to you! But don’t worry guys, rapidly - more like in an year - it will all end and we will have graduated with good grades (hopefully). We shall not forget the senior fundraisers, fashion show, prom, thousands of practices, tutoring classes, and after school activities. They expect us to do all of these with a smile on our faces, and to have fun every minute of our best school year! Yeah, right.

Photo: Flora Ballantyne Blogspot Photo: Dubroy

On the other hand, it is not all darkness people, there are a thousand other things that make it awesome to be a senior. First of all, we rule our school - at least we think we do. People respect us and look up to us;; as if we changed a lot during 2 months of vacation. Secondly, we have our own senior line and senior lunchroom in the cafeteria. Want to know something awesome? We can cut people who are not seniors who are in our line. (It doesn’t make that big of a difference;; our senior line is just as big and slow as the other ones.) Third, at the end of the year, seniors have their Prom and their Post Prom party. We can all have fun with our friends and people that we like, with the relief that everything that we had to do is handed in and we are done with school. Now Seniors, beware of the new disease that is starting to spread all over high schools worldwide: Senioritis. This disease only attacks seniors and has some characteristics symptoms;; these symptoms would be: laziness, deficiency in completing tasks, lack of dedication to work, and the main excuse, “I’m a senior, I don’t have to do this.” Stay healthy, kids!

Photo: The Harmonic Oscillator Photo: Mcgregor Well guys, this is it. In about an year we will be free (at least from school, then we have college, work, starting a family, getting money, succeeding in life;; pretty easy and simple). Lets keep our heads up and focus on what we have to do, and don’t forget to have fun. It’s our time to shine!

4 Reasons why to go to Tarifa not to Miami Situated around 600 km south from the capital of Spain, Madrid, lies the small town of Tarifa, province of Cádiz, Andalusia. With its 20.000 citizens and 400 square meters, this town brought me more fun in two days than in two weeks in Miami.

1. They treat strangers like we treat friends For a long time I was convinced Brazilians were welcoming people, until I visited Tarifa. There, I felt like I was rude and lifeless. For example, after telling a iceman, who asked me where I was from, that I came from Brazil, he started asking how I liked Spain, why did I know how to speak spanish etc… At first I thought he was just a cool ice cream vender, but after a receptionist, two saleswomen and a bus driver all talked to me as if I was their friends I noticed how it derived from their culture.

2. “Vamos a la playa”

Photo: Vitor Takasu “Let’s go to the beach”. I can’t remember how many times I heard this sentence during the two days I stayed in Tarifa. Different from any other beach I have been to, around 100 meters of white, thin sand filled the ground from the beach walk to the ocean. Apart from this, if you are facing the ocean and you look to your right you’ll contemplate fascinating dunes; if you look left you’ll view the endless beach which stretches for several kilometers; if you look back you’ll gaze upon the huge mountains replete with trees; and if you look forward you’ll get a flash of Africa, which is only 20 km away.

3. Exotic sports Known as the “city of wind”, hundreds of wind and kite surfers from all around the world go to Tarifa to practice these exotic sports. Go to the beach around 6 p.m. and you will see, literally, more

than 100 kite surfers surfing around. Even though I didn’t have time to try kite surfing, I found a skate park near the beach and passed a whole afternoon skating and making new friends.

Photo: Vitor Takasu

4. Easy to go From one day to another, my friend and I decided we wanted to visit Tarifa. Taking only 50 Euros on my pocket, one backpack, one tent and a skateboard I left to the bus station without even knowing if I was going to find a ticket to Tarifa. Luckily, I arrived at the bus station at 1:25 p.m., 5 minutes before the next bus left to our destination, which was around 150 km away from the city I was. As we arrived in Tarifa, we found a camping site where we slept the night on the tent and came back on the next day at around 9:00 p.m.

Photo by: Vitor Takasu Apart from offering me incredible activities to do, Tarifa opened my mind and taught me how to make the best out of the 24 hours I have every day. Leaving your house to meet new people, visiting new places, trying a new activity and living simple are all different ways to make you feel as you have really made something out of your day and I can assure you it is one of the best feelings in the world. Rationale: After searching for some recurring features on travel articles I liked the most I noticed that using a lot of pictures and clearly separating each paragraph are both efficient formal features. By adding pictures to the article the author grabs much more attention of the reader, and this is what I tried to do. Also, by writing a title for every paragraph I give the reader an idea of what I will be writing down in the paragraph and this makes the article more attractive. Apart from these two formal features, I also used hyperboles and word choice (two stylistic features) to grab the reader’s attention. I use hyperboles such as “the rudest, most boring person there” to prove my point to the reader. I also tried to use my word choice in a way I would interest the reader. For example, writing a sentence in Spanish or comparing the city with Miami are ways I use word choice to grab the readers attention.

3 Fascinating Facts Before Traveling In South Korea WELCOME TO SOUTH KOREA! Once you can successfully handle distinguishing between North Korea and South Korea, let me give you a tour of its culture. 7mm thick cell phones that can stay underwater for 10 hours without any malfunctioning and 280cm wide televisions with flexible screens that can bend freely. Technologies! They will probably float around in your mind when you hear about South Korea. Many people recognize South Korea for the companies, such as Samsung and LG, that successfully promote the country’s highly developed technologies. But let us explore deeper about South Korea. Here are three things that you never heard of but exist only in Korea. 24 hours Delivery What do you do when you are suddenly craving for fried chicken, pizza, hamburgers or fried rice but its two in the morning? You will probably try to go to sleep embracing your empty stomach growling. In South Korea, however, 24-hour delivery service will solve your hungry problem. You can get any type of food you are craving for at anywhere and at anytime. Most of the restaurants in South Korea are open for 24 hours, ready to feed the starving customers. Name a food and press the numbers in your phone. You will be enjoying a delicious dish in less than 10 minutes. Color Coded Taxi You must have traveled a lot and saw many different kinds of taxis. But have you seen taxis that differ by the service they offer? In South Korea, there are color coded taxis that offer different level of service. Three different colors of taxis drive on the roads in South Korea: white/grey, orange and black. White/grey and orange taxis are the ordinary ones that people can see and use every day. Their main goal is to get to the destination as fast as they can. You and the majority will use these taxis. The black taxis, on the other hand, are very different from the ordinary taxis as they are called deluxe taxis. They offer higher standard of service to the guests with much more expensive and comfortable luxurious cars and veteran drivers with more than 10 years of driving experience. Their goal is to create the most comfort drive for the guest. Consequently, the drivers are very welcoming and amiable. They dress in uniforms that are spick-and-span matching with the cars’ ostentatious looks. Also, the deluxe taxis have a little refrigerator in the car to keep cold drinks for the users. This is amazing! However, they cost nearly three times more than the ordinary taxis in South Korea. Therefore people who really know about color coded taxis are heedful of what they ride. Remember, not all taxis in South Korea are extravagant. Make sure you know what color you are in when traveling. Karaoke Only For You You have probably heard of what karaokes are before. The karaoke machines entertain people by letting them sing any songs they wish to sing. The machines provide lyrics, music and scores. People go to karaoke as groups of friends and families as the rooms are big and costly. But what if you are feeling down and want to sing alone? Well, South Korea has a perfect place for you. Entertainment in South Korea offers coin karaoke where individuals can enjoy. Each coin you put in will be used for each song you want to sing. No longer have you had to call your friends out to have fun. So there you go. Now you know interesting facts about South Korea that your friends don’t. Knowing such cultures of a country, you can say that you have really visited the country.

Check Africa Out of Your Bucket List A common bucket list wish is a trip to Africa;; now, even if you still don't know, Africa is not a country, it is a continent composed by 61 countries, so you have a full deck to choose from. Also, make sure you choose the right place, which leads me to my next point, Africa is not only a jungle. In fact, Africa is a huge dessert, but there are cities, for example, with the same amount of wild animals as New York or São Paulo: NONE. So, if you are looking for the wildlife, Kenya is the right place for you.

I Want to Touch, it's Cute! The capital of Kenya is Nairobi, where you will probably land, before directing your trip to any other direction after entering the country. That is the only place within Kenya in which you can have breakfast with giraffes and foster a baby elephant. The baby elephant program exists because thousands of elephants die every year for their ivory. Therefore, the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust rescue the babies since elephants, different from monkeys, don't "adopt" other elephants' babies, so they die of either bad nutrition or lack of protection. As you can see in the picture of the giraffes above, theryou will be comfortable and in contact with the animals. e are nice hotels in the city and it is certain that

OMG, I Don't Want to See If you choose to go to Maasai Mara, a city in the wild life where the humans are not allowed to change the animals habitat, I can guarantee you will take gross pictures of dead animals like this: .

Julia Galvão English Lang and Lit Mr. Campbell Later on, you'll either be really proud of what you saw or grossed out and feeling guilty for your thoughts in being a lucky person for getting to see this. Things like this may casually happen more or less three meters away from you, which can be pretty scary after seeing what has happened to the prey. Moreover, don't miss out in the chance of visiting Maasai Mara because you will see many beautiful birds, fatty hippo families, and of course the abundance of zebras, gazelles, and wildebeests. In your first day, the energy of this magical and silent, at times, place takes over you and every thing you see, or think you see with your binoculars you will take pictures. There's a lot to see so, you will probably receive a notebook from your safari guide to check out the animals you already saw. The humans have no control over the animals' life;; therefore, you go on a hunt to find them. You enter an open jeep and go into the wild looking for them, check your luck by seeing if you completed the whole animal checklist. * tip: never get out of the jeep or think about it because if you do, you will become animal food. *tip 2: don't miss out on the opportunity of seeing the animals migrating into Tanzania! If you dislike the idea of having animals close to you, there is also the balloon ride trip as an option;; where you fly for 1 hour, seeing all kinds of animals from above and also having the experience of watching the sunrise from a privileged place. When the ride is over, the balloon company will serve you a breakfast with a diverse of fruits, muffins, all kinds of eggs, and even Nutella. Waking up at 4:30 for an experience like this, is definitely worth it.

Time to Breath in Some Fresh Air At one point you will be careless about the animals because you will see too many of every species, so even when seeing a group of six lionesses together you will say "Sawa sawa" to your guide, which means "everything is good", meaning you are okay to leave and look out for other animals. The people from Maasai Mara, the Maa people, speak the language of Maa, which is different from the dialect of the natives of Laikipia, for example, another city in Kenya. Laikipia, is a beautiful flat city in Kenya, you can go there to have a break and breath in the air that is so fresh and so different from the metropolises. If you have time, go to the city and

Julia Galvão English Lang and Lit Mr. Campbell see the hand made arts and crafts that the citizens do and learn more about their culture and costumes. It is possible for you to visit their village and even their school. Rapidly, you'll notice that EVERYONE smiles at you all the time and they are all really kind and polite. Also, you are prohibited to leave Kenya and Africa without seeing the sunset, you will NEVER EVER see one as beautiful as the one they have there.

Lastly, when in Laikipia try the helicopter tour of the land and see the animals from above and also fly to places where, at least in their winter, 900 m above the ground you see mountains with their tops covered with snow and really close to it a lake in between two mountains, where it is possible to fish while having the view of an incredible huge valley.

It is Hot and it is Cold The idea of having snow, and being in a dessert with a lake above 900 m from the ground is a little confusing, just as the weather there during their winter. By the

Julia Galvão English Lang and Lit Mr. Campbell morning you will be cold, an estimated weather is 18 degrees Celsius, at ground level. At noon you will want to take off all the clothes you put on in the morning because it will probably be "desert hot", so its a good time to go to the hotel spa or to have a swim in the hotel's pool. After the sunset, the temperature drops like crazy and you freeze, so it is always good to use layers of clothes, so you can take them off and put them on fast. At night it is so cold that the hotels even place one and sometimes two hot water bags inside your bed to keep it warm for you to sleep. So, if you have the chance, don't forget to include Kenya in your bucket list and check it out one day. But, if you are going in their winter break, don't forget that it's not "too hot" in Africa, you may take shorts and tee-shirts, but include some big jackets, hoodies, and jeans to warm you up and protect you from the wind.

14 Things a Chapel High School Student Must Do Before Graduating By Priscilla Pacheco

High School starts pretty early at Chapel as we all know, and a lot of things happen to those who get to graduate here. Therefore, after interviewing some Seniors (Class of 2015), I’ve created a list of the 16 things that you must do before graduation day.

1. Try out for a sport.

This is the very first experience you must have. Why? Because it’s what everybody does. As soon as you get into High School, you hear about NR – Little 8. Then you get excited and decide to join some sport. Some play soccer, others basketball, and those who are afraid of getting cut try to get into cheerleading. And if you get cut don’t worry! You still have the next five years to join a sport.

2. Complain about the IB

This only starts in 11th grade, when the IB program begins. You will complain about the amount of homework and how hard the subjects are, HOWEVER, you will be very proud when you start telling all of those AP students how hard IB is and how you are surviving it. Then you start checking out the memes online, sharing it with your friends, laughing a lot, but still complaining. It’s life. It’s IB.

3. Hug Mr. Murphy

If you haven’t done that yet, you MUST. Mr. Murphy might seem strict at first, but we all know he is a sweetheart and he LOVES hugs from his students! No wonder he’s always the one who speaks at Chapel’s graduations and the one who writes the best recommendation letters.

4. Take at least one Show What You Know

Yes, even if you are a genius in Math you WILL take at least one show what you know. Why? Because the Math geniuses take Higher Level Math, and usually fail on the first tests… so even they end up taking it.

5. Complain about the Wi-Fi

It is a must do for its obvious reasons: we use computer in most of our subjects nowadays and the Wi-Fi sucks.

6. Procrastinate I’ll explain this one later... and I’ll look for the picture later as well…

7. Try for Math HL, but drop out.

Good in math? No? It’s ok. Try for Math HL in 11th grade, and then drop. Like I always say “the smart one is not the one who stays in Math HL, but the one who drops out because they want to have a life… and sleep.”

8. Complain about the dress code.

It’s automatic. We all do it, especially girls. What’s wrong about tank tops???

9. Go to the nurse because you have a headache… and a math test at the same time (but it’s just a coincidence!!!!)

Who hasn’t faked a little headache, or low blood pressure, to take a visit to the nurse? You must do it on a Math test day, but if I were you I’d do it before reaching the IB program, because then things get serious and you won’t want to miss any class. Unless you don’t care about your IB diploma, then it’s chill.

10. Want to start a revolution against one of the teachers… but then give up.

This usually happens as you get older. You start getting bad grades in a class and find out that the same thing is happening with your classmates. So, should you try to study more? No. You should all complain about the teacher, and try to find out ways to fire them. Then you’ll realize you’re wasting your time, and eventually give up (especially because suddenly you get a good grade on that subject and the school year is almost over anyways…)

11. Watch the varsity soccer team (boys) win the High School League… but not Big8.

Always happens. No comments.

12. Watch a fight between EAC and Chapel during a soccer game.

Every year EAC and Chapel have to face each other in the High School League game and EAC claims that they are going win… but they lose. Apart from watching Chapel, we all go to the game to watch both schools fight and call each other funny names, but even on that EAC loses.

13. Get excited about graduating when you get to Senior year.

You’re tired of school, you want to leave so bad.

14. Get sad about graduating in the end of Senior year.

You’ll realize you’ll actually miss your friends (and your family if you go abroad), and stop counting the days left until graduation… and then you graduate.
