THE PROPOSED SITE FOR THE PRIMARY HEALTHCARE DEVELOPMENT IS IN PURAKHER KHEDI, THE VILLAGE COMES UNDER KHILCHIPUR TALUK IN THE RAJGARH DISTRICT OF MADHYA PRADESH PINCODE OF THE VILLAGE IS 465679 PRADESH FORM DEVELOPMENT OUR APPROACH TO THE PROJECT WAS TO CREATE A SPACE THAT EMBODIES THE IDEAS OF EQUAL & UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE FOR ALL KEEPING AT THE FOREFRONT SUSTAINABILITY & THE IMPACT ARCHITECTURE CAN HAVE ON THE CULTURAL IDENTITY TAKING INSPIRATION FROM THE TRADITIONAL "KORKU" PATTERN ORIGINATING IN MADHYA PRADESH WE DECIDED TO CREATE A FORM THAT WOULD COMPLEMENT THE EXISTING VERNACULAR OF THE VILLAGE.
BAMBOO TRUSS LOCAL MUD TILE ROOF NATURAL CLAY PLASTER RUBBLE MASONRY WALLS RAMMED EARTH FLOORING RUBBLE TRENCH FOUNDATION MATERIALS TO CUT BACK UNNECESSARY COSTS AND FOR EASE OF CONSTRUCTION WE OPTED FOR MATERIALS THAT WERE LOCALLY AVAILABLE IN THE MALWA PLATEAU THESE MATERIALS HAD BEEN IN USE IN TRADITIONAL ARCHITECTURE THROUGHOUT THE REGION ROCKS, STONES & PEBBLES HAVE BEEN IMPLEMENTED IN THE FORM BY USING RUBBLE MASONRY IN THE WALLS THIS HELPS KEEP THE BUILDING COOL AND IS ALSO MORE EFFECTIVE & SUSTAINABLE THAN MODERN CONSTRUCTION METHODS BEING USED IN THE AREA TWO ROOFS HAVE BEEN PROVIDED IN THE STRUCTURE ONE MADE OF RAMMED EARTH PLASTERED WITH CLAY & THE SECOND MADE OF ROOF TILES, RESTING ON A BAMBOO FRAMEWORK SUPPORTED BY BAMBOO TRUSSES. TWO ROOFS HAVE A GAP IN BETWEEN WITH AIR SERVING AS INSULATION, TO PREVENT THE TRANSFER OF HEAT INTO THE MAIN BUILDINGS OTHER TECHNIQUES & MATERIALS OPTED FOR INCLUDE RAMMED EARTH, CLAY PLASTER, BAMBOO TRUSSES AND LOCAL MUD TILES.

TO INTEGRATE THE COMMUNITY AND PROVIDE SPACE FOR DIALOG, THOUGHT, CELEBRATION, AND GROWTH WE INTEGRATED COURTYARDS IN OUR DESIGN THAT COULD BE USED AS MULTI PURPOSE SPACES FOR DIFFERENT ACTIVITIES FOR THE COMMUNITY

THESE SPACES PROVIDE PROTECTION FROM THE HARSH SUN WHILE PROVIDING AMPLE AIR CIRCULATION DROUGHT RESISTANT PLANTS HAVE BEEN USED THROUGHOUT THE SITE TO PROVIDE AMPLE GREEN SPACES FOR HEALING VISIBLE THROUGHOUT THE YEAR

A SURREALIST DREAMSCAPE CONCEPTUAL SPACE

04
INTO THE RABBIT HOLE COMPETITION 2022

SURREALISM IS THE PSYCHIC AUTOMATION OF THE MIND, IN ITS PUREST FORM ALLOWING EXPRESSION TO BE EXERCISED WITHOUT THE CONTROL OF REASON WITH CHILDLIKE CURIOSITY, THE INTENT WAS TO CREATE A DREAMSCAPE THAT ALLOWS JOY & HEALING TO TAKE PLACE IN A SPACE UNBOUND BY THE RIGIDITY, RULES & NORMS OF WHAT IS EXPECTED & ALLOWED TO BE CONSIDERED "NORMAL" IN SOCIETY FREE OF MONOTONY, THE BUILDING IS CONCEPTUALIZED AS A FLOATING FORM NESTLED BETWEEN THE LUSCIOUS, TALL HILLS FULL OF FOLIAGE & THE VAST WAVES OF THE OCEAN CREATING A CONNECTION WITH ELEMENTS OF WATER, GREENERY, THE WIND, AND CLOUDS.

THE STRUCTURE IS CONCEIVED ALONG A LINEAR PLAN. STARTING AT AN ARCHED PORTICO THE FORM TRANSITIONS INTO THE BLUE LOBBY CONSISTING OF CURVED CANOPIED ARCHES

FROM THE SOUTH OF THE STRUCTURE, WATERS ARE CHANNELED FROM A NATURAL WATER STREAM PRESENT VIA THE WATER STRIDE, ALLOWING WATER TO PASS THROUGH THE STEPS INTO TWO WATER CHAMBERS AND THEN EXIT FROM UNDERNEATH THE FORM FALLING INTO THE OCEAN WATERS.

AN INFINITY EDGE POOL IS DESIGNED TO THE WEST TO OFFER VIEWS OF THE SETTING SUN BEHIND THE LUSH HILLS ON THE EAST, A CHAMBER IS DESIGNED FLOATING WITH THE CLOUDS OFFERING SUNRISE & THE MORNING MIST TO HEAL, WITH FLOATING ROCKS SERVING AS A WALKWAY AND ALLOWING ACCESS.

TOWARDS THE SOUTH, A COMPLETELY OPEN GREEN LOUNGE IS DESIGNED TO SERVE AS A PLACE TO PAUSE SIT & REFLECT IN THE GREENERY OF NATURE WITH FRESH BREEZE & VIEWS OF THE WATERS.

THE FORM WAS PLANNED TO INCORPORATE ELEMENTS THAT CONTRIBUTE TO IMPROVING MENTAL HEALTH, RELAXATION, AND HEALING, SUCH AS THE USE OF SOOTHING COLORS SUCH AS BLUE & GREEN, ACCESS TO GREEN LANDSCAPES AND SEASCAPE, USE OF SOFT, CURVED LINES IN THE DESIGN WHILE CREATING PATTERNS THROUGH ARCHITECTURE

INTRODUCTION

THE MAIN INTENT THROUGH THE DESIGN IS TO FOCUS ON 3 KEY ASPECTS TERMED ACT

ACCESSIBILITY THROUGH PEDESTRIAN NETWORKS

CONNECTIVITY THROUGH COMMUNITY TRANQUILITY THROUGH GREEN SPACES

GREEN SPACE IS PLANNED NEXT TO ALL HOUSING UNITS TO ESTABLISH A PHYSICAL AND VISUAL CONNECTION WITH NATURE FROM ALL DWELLING UNITS THE BUILDING FORMS ARE ORIENTED TO MAXIMIZE VENTILATION WHILE ALLOWING GOOD SUN EXPOSURE AS HAMIRPUR EXPERIENCES HEAVY RAINFALL YEAR ROUND AND COOL WINTER MONTHS THE ACT CONCEPT WAS PLACED AT THE FOREFRONT OF ROAD NETWORK PLANNING, TO FACILITATE PEDESTRIAN TRAFFIC OVER MOTOR VEHICLES WITHOUT HINDERING EASE OF MAINTENANCE

MANY VIRUSES HAVE GONE BY AND OTHERS MIGHT COME IN FUTURE, BUT THE SURVIVAL INSTINCTS OF HUMANS ARE INEVITABLE DIVIDED BY BARRIERS LIKE RELIGION AND CASTE, WE ALL UNITE, WHEN A PROBLEM LIKE THIS CONFRONTS US THOUGH THE PANDEMIC CAUSED SERIOUS DAMAGE TO THE WORLDWIDE ECONOMY AND LIFESTYLE, IT DID GIVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO UPLIFT THE HEALTH STANDARDS, BE IT THROUGH A GALI, NUKKAD OR A PUBLIC TRANSIT. WE AS ARCHITECTS CAN PROPOSE DESIGN CHANGES, BUT WITH THE GENERAL MASSES OBEYING THEM, WE CAN SURELY DEFEAT THE PANDEMIC AND COME OUT, STRONGER THAN EVER,

THE MAJOR IDEOLOGY BEHIND THE DESIGN WAS TO SIMPLIFY THE CIRCULATION PATTERNS OF THREE MAJOR TRAFFIC SOURCES, NAMELY BUSES, PRIVATE VEHICLES/AUTOS, AND PEDESTRIANS SEPARATE PUBLIC ENTRANCE AND EXITS PROVIDED A CLEAR DISTINCTION BEETWEEN THE ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE PASSENGERS AND REDUCED THEIR INTERSECTION TO A MINIMUM.

THELA CART

IN A COUNTRY WHERE A MAJOR PART OF THE POPULATION ROAMS ON THE STREETS FOR LIVELIHOOD, IT'S NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO STOP THE LOCAL VENDORS AND THEIR THELA GAADI, SPECIALLY AT A PUBLIC TRANSIT.

THAT'S WHY WE'VE FOUND A SOLUTION THAT NOT ONLY SUPPORTS THE THELA SYSTEM, BUT ALSO COMPLIES WITH COMMON HEALTH GUIDELINES FOR SOCIAL DISTANCING.

THE CART HAS 4 DRAWERS, EACH WITH 2 COMPARTMENTS WHERE RETAIL ITEMS ARE STORED ALL FOUR DRAWERS ARE ARRANGED AROUND A RECTANGULAR FRAME SO THAT EACH CUSTOMER IS AT LEAST ONE METER AWAY FROM THE OTHERS.

GLASS PROTECTION PREVENTS DIRECT CONTACT BETWEEN SELLER AND CUSTOMER. A SANITIZER IS PLACED ABOVE EACH DRAWER TO ENSURE THE CLEANLINESS OF THE DRAWER HANDLES.

THE DISTANCING

THE DISTANCING BENCH IS AN ADAPTATION, IN RESPONSE TO THE GLOBAL PANDEMIC, WITHOUT COMPROMISING THE AESTHETICS.

THE SEATINGS ARE ARRANGED FACING DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS AND AT LEAST 4 FT AWAY FROM EACH OTHER AS SUGGESTED BY WH O

THE SPACE IN BETWEEN IS FILLED WITH FLOWER VASE TO CREATE A BUFFER AND LIMIT THE TRANSMISSION THROUGH AIR
