HOPE AT WORK
A Word From Our Founder “How did you do it?” is a question I am asked frequently when sharing my personal story with childhood cancer. My answer is always the same: “With lots of prayer and support from my fellow cancer friends.” During Jay’s battle, we crossed paths with so many other cancer families. No matter our age, color, family dynamics, or background, we were always fast friends and shared a common bond weaved through our children. Being around others just like us brought a comfort that is hard to describe. When Jason and I began Jay’s HOPE almost ten years ago, we wanted to create a sense of community among the families we served. Each month, Jay’s HOPE hosts a fun event for our families to get together and fellowship. I have heard several moms describe Jay’s HOPE as a “safe place” where kiddos feel normal and there are no questions about hair loss or scars. A place where moms and dads can compare treatment protocols, share tips on managing side effects, and giggle over how Kraft macaroni and chocolate milkshakes are now considered a nutritious meal. A place where siblings are loved on and reminded that they are important too. Above all else, families find a place where tears are okay and unexpected joy is abundant. As we reflect on the past year and plan for the next, we want to take a moment to share with you our latest HOPE at Work. In these pages, you will see firsthand the impact God has allowed us to make through relationships and community. It truly is a beautiful thing! To all the businesses, foundations, civic groups, schools, and individuals who have given of your time and treasure this year, we can’t thank you enough for your support. We couldn’t do what we do without you. In HOPE,
Cindy Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the Lord’s people. Philemon 1:7

Go the distance for our Jay’s HOPE kiddos every month by joining our pledge program! Givers Every Month is a new program that allows our donors to stand in the gap for our families. Each month, over 75% of our local children travel more than 100 miles to treatment, and the need for gas, food, and lodging assistance is very great.
Give Your Time Becoming a volunteer for Jay’s HOPE is one of the most rewarding experiences you can have! From working in the office to helping at a family event, we have a place for everyone who wishes to make a difference in the lives of our Jay’s HOPE kiddos.
The Jay’s HOPE Foundation is a place where HOPE shines through grief and creates a sanctuary for everyone it ministers to. I hold these precious children near and dear to my heart. For me, serving the Jay’s HOPE families is about seeing smiles on their faces as they light the world with brightness. The laughs, tears of joy, and inspiration that Jay’s HOPE has given me have shaped me into who I am today. My involvement there is a constant reminder of the HOPE I live for.
Jay’s HOPE has brought many magnificent people into my life. The staff, my fellow volunteers, and the families inspire my faith every time I am around them. How could you not feel God’s presence when you see children who are battling cancer trust God despite their circumstances? Jay’s HOPE is a support system that surrounds these families with people who become the hands and feet of God for each child. It is an honor to be part of this organization.

Lymphoma Our journey with Luke’s diagnosis began with the Jay’s HOPE ladies by our side in our hospital room. Since that first moment, they have become a lifeline, a friend to call anytime, and a link to other cancer families. We especially enjoy attending their social events every month. While my children play in a safe environment, I can talk with other parents. We feel each other’s pain and have similar frustrations. I meet families at all different points of their childhood cancer journeys. Because of Jay’s HOPE, no matter the outcome of our battle, we will be stronger for it. I believe Jay’s HOPE should be included in every pediatric oncology family’s treatment plan. We rely so easily on the medicinal form to heal our sickness, but Jay’s HOPE provides a healing power that NO drug company can replicate.

Lymphoma What I love about Jay’s HOPE is that THEY came to US and were never pushy. After our diagnosis, they immediately reached out by sending us bags full of gas cards, gift cards, toys, and more to the hospital. We received mail that encouraged us and informed us of events. All the while, they respected our situation. I remember our first event last October. We had just gotten out of the hospital and didn’t know what to expect. It was amazing! We were blown away that so many people knew our names and our story. We were hooked from that day forward. These monthly social events are something we look forward to. They are a time for Kylei’s siblings to get involved and to be given the special attention that they often seem to lack as a result of having a sister with cancer. I love that ALL my children are considered special at Jay’s HOPE. Jay’s HOPE is the silver lining in a world filled with clouds. It’s more than a service; it’s a personal relationship.

CIRCLE OF
The mission of Jay's HOPE is to
improve the quality-of-life of children with cancer and their families in Georgia by extending HOPE through social, emotional, spiritual, educational, and financial support.
At Jay’s HOPE, we are blessed to be called to stand in the gap with our local families as they battle childhood cancer. We call this the Circle of HOPE. Play Therapy The Jay’s HOPE office has a large play therapy room where patients and siblings can escape the hospital setting and relax while engaging in a number of age-appropriate activities. We also frequently visit our hospital-bound children and provide respite for our parents.
Tutorial Services We have an amazing and compassionate teacher who works with our students. She helps parents work with the school to develop individual educational plans, and she works in the local hospital home-bound system.
Family Events Connecting our families through monthly social activities expands their support systems, offers encouragement, alleviates feelings of isolation, and creates lasting relationships.
Family Resource Center Our office has a large patient library that offers inspirational books and resource materials for caregivers. We also offer internet service for families to use for research.
Financial Assistance Through our generous donor dollars, we are able to offer need-based financial assistance to those who qualify. Many families face financial difficulties during this life-altering diagnosis. We are blessed to be able to join hands and meet immediate needs.
Temporary Housing and Travel Jay’s HOPE maintains an apartment for free use by our families in the event that the Ronald McDonald house is full or if they do not qualify to stay there. We also provide gas and meal assistance to those traveling far from home for treatment.
Over 85 cents of every dollar received funds our family support programs.
Fundraising Events Hats 4 HOPE
Each year, over 125 schools partner together and take an active role in offering direct support to local Jay’s HOPE kids. The impact of the students’ one-dollar donations can give true HOPE to a family in crisis.
Celebrate HOPE
Fabulous food, amazing decorations, and lively jazz music set the stage for a very successful event. All proceeds raised at our signature event funds our mission of supporting local families in their fight against childhood cancer.
Trek or Treat 5K
15,000 pieces of candy, 1,000 runners and walkers, hundreds of costumes, and a whole lotta FUN! This family-friendly event held at Bass Pro Shops in Macon helps to fund immediate relief to the many burdens caused by childhood cancer.
Blind Wine Tasting
Form a team, bring a friend, and taste some wine! Join the Young Supporters for Jay’s HOPE as they host our annual Blind Wine Tastings at the 567 Center for Renewal in Downtown Macon.
