LETTER FROM MAIN STREET

IT’S HARD TO BELIEVE that Summer is here. The Splash Pad at Davis Park is open. There are so many wonderful camps for kids and Bible Schools. Carthage Main Street will host their 4th annual film camp June 10 - 14. The counselors are our very own Main Street Youth Advisory Council students. It’s a red carpet event you don’t want your kids to miss out on!

The Texas Country Music Hall of Fame will host tryouts for their John Ritter Tribute Showcase on June 22. The showcase and museum are free to attend. People from all over the United States will be auditioning to perform at the show on Friday, August 9 at the Carthage Civic Center. One of them will be named winner and ambassador to the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame for 2025. You won’t want to miss that show for sure! Tickets for the induction show are available only at the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame gift shop or by calling 903694 - 9561.

Now, if you haven’t been downtown lately I encourage you to visit, do some shopping, play some chess in Anderson Park, have some lunch.

Then, plan to come back that night to enjoy dinner and even a show at the Esquire. Chase Dawson and The Southern Impact Band and The Dusty Boots Band along with our community theatre group The Esquire Players have a fun show in June called “Music In Movies.” For information on this show and everything upcoming at the Esquire visit www.thecountrymusichayride.com.

Finally, if you have considered joining The Esquire Players, here’s your chance! Our next open casting call will be Thursday, June 6 from 5pm - 8pm at the Esquire Theater. Our shows for the whole year are cast from this audition and once you are an Esquire Player you are one for life! We are always looking for new members of all ages. Whether you like being on stage or behind the scenes, we’d love to have you.

The UT Tyler - Longview Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is here to support and help small businesses start, grow, and thrive. We’re part of a national network of over 1000 SBDC’s funded by a grant from the Small Business Administration and hosted by local colleges and universities. Every county in the country is served by a local SBDC.

My center, with its main office in Longview, serves six counties in East Texas including Panola. If you live or have your business in Upshur, Gregg, Rusk, Marion, Harrison or Panola Counties we can assist you.

What does an SBDC do? We’re here to help entrepreneurs start businesses and small business owners grow thriving businesses. We’re staffed by seasoned entrepreneurs, so we know how difficult and life - consuming it is to start and run a successful small business.

We can help step entrepreneurs through the start up process. Where do I start? Do I need a business plan (YES!)? Should my business be

a sole proprietorship or an LLC? Do I need a loan and for how much?

An SBDC can help small business owners grow or heal their businesses. How do I grow to the next level? How do I get my business back on track? I’m having the best year of sales I’ve ever had but I’m struggling to make payroll. What’s wrong and how do I fix this?

We can help answer all these questions and then some. From financial projections and pro formas, to business plans and feasibility studies, to advertising and marketing strategies, to government contracting, we can help you do it all. And the best part about what we do is that we do it at no charge to our clients. That’s right, we help you for free!

We have offices in Longview and Marshall to serve you. We can even meet at the Panola County Chamber of Commerce if it’s more convenient. Your chamber is a wonderful and supportive SBDC partner who truly cares about small business in Panola County.
