Scanning Classical Animation 1. Open EPSON Scan on the Desktop. Change the Mode to Professional Mode 2. Make the following changes: Mode: Professional Mode Auto Exposure Type: Photo Image Type: 24-bit color Resolution: 72 dpi

3 . Click on the yellow file folder icon in the bottom right of the EPSON Scan dialog box. This brings up the File Save Settings Dialog box.

4. To ensure that your files will be saved to the right place, Check Other for Location. 5. Click Browse. 6. Browse to your N:\\AnimationShr\Student Folders\

7. Choose your class period> your folder 8. Select your Classical Animation folder. (Make one if you don’t have one) 9. Change settings to the following: Prefix: img Start Number: 001 Type: JPEG (*.jpg) 10. Uncheck all of the options at the bottom 11. Click OK. 12. Open scanner; remove any paper or book that might be on the glass. Place your first frame face down on the pegs. Put the piece of foam board on top of your paper, close lid. 13. In the EPSON Scan Dialog box, click the Preview button.


14. Type in the these settings for the Document Size: W 7.81 H 10.91

15. A dotted line should be centered around your drawing, but should NOT include the peg bar. 16. Press the Scan button. Epson Scan Software will save your image as a JPG to the folder you chose in Step 7. 17. Open the scanner lid, remove your first drawing and replace with the next drawing. 18. Press the Preview Button. Make sure everything looks like it did for the first scan. Make sure EPSON Scan keeps your previous settings. 19. Press Scan Button. Do this for all 12 of your frames.

20. After your scans are done, open your student folder through Windows Explorer each image and rotate counter clockwise.

21. Now it’s time to put them in Flash.

Setting Up Your Flash Document 1. Double-Click the Adobe folder on the Desktop. 2. Find Adobe Flash Professional CS6 in the list and launch. 3. Choose ActionScript 3.0 Under Create New Heading

4. Click File>Save. 5. Name your file: periodnumberlastname_bounce and save it in your N drive Classical Animation Folder.

6. Click on the Properties Tab on the right side of the interface. 7. In the Properties Panel Change Size to: 785 x 562 8. Press Ctrl + 2 (This centers the Stage in your viewing area) 9. Choose File>Import to Stage‌ 10. Find the 12 Scans you just made. Select one. 11. Click Open. 12. Flash will see that your images are sequential and ask if you want to import them all. 13. Click Yes.

14. Go back to select Frame 1, Press F5 to add a frame.

15. Keep selecting each frame with black dots in them and pressing F5 until you reach frame 24. This holds each image for two frames. (Animating on the TWOS)

16. Highlight frames 1-24. 17. Right-Click and choose Copy Frames.

18. Select Frame 25. 19. Right-Click and choose Paste Frames. (This inserts the 24 frames you copied after the initial 24. You should have 48 frames by now.)

20. Repeat steps 18 & 19 until you have a total of 120 frames (5 seconds) NOTE: Select the frame past the last frame that was pasted instead of continually selecting frame 25 to insert your group of 24 frames. 21. To test your movie, press Ctrl + Enter. (When you press Enter, you are creating the SWF for your FLA file. You will see that wherever you have your Flash file stored, there will be a file of the same name, but with a SWF extension.) 22. Close the SWF. 23. If your animation is running too fast, change your fps (frames per second) from 24 to a lower number. You may have to experiment to get it looking just the way you want it.

24. To turn in your movie, Click File>Export>Export Movie‌ 25. Choose MOV file type. 26. Accept defaults and click OK. 27. Save this file in your Classical Animation folder in your N drive. 28. Upload to Schoology and be sure to add your reflection statement.
