5 Ways to Show Respect to Your Teacher Natola Wilson | 5th Grade Some kids don't respect their teachers by, not listening to their teachers and yelling out answers. Here are some ways that kids can respect their teachers. 1. Pay attention to your teachers. Let's be real, you can't really learn anything in school if you don't pay attention to your teachers. Let's say you have a test the next day and all week you have not been paying attention to the teacher, you will probably not pass the test. 2. Raise your hand when your teacher is talking. It is rude to shout out your answer or statement in the middle of class. Your teacher might not answer you if you shout it out. 3. Follow the rule of the classroom. Following the rules of the classroom can be very helpful. You could finish your lesson in a short amount of time. 4. Follow directions. Follow the directions that the teacher gives you. It can keep you from getting into trouble. 5. Participate in lessons. Just sitting in class doing nothing is disrespectful. Try to answer at least 3-5 questions given.

The Downside to Social Media By: Armanye Ceaser | 7th Grade
There are many ways social media can have a bad impact on teens. Some of those ways are by exposing them to cyber bullying, and also by destroying social skills. Bulling is a big problem in this world and social media is just making it so much worse. Cyber bullying can cause low self-esteem, which most of the time can lead to depression, and with depression that can lead to something way worse, which is suicide. This is a big problem, there are 4,400 suicides deaths per year, according to the American center for disease control. Another reason social media is a bad impact on teens is that it destroys social skills. You may be asking yourself, how can this be? Well according to the research ''teens may text at the dinner table, also walking to class. Teens are so dependent on technology that they struggle interacting with people in real life, people are so used to hiding behind a screen. 3,401 American girls aged 8 to 12 were surveyed for the study, it was concluded that young girls who spend an excessive amount of time using these devices will struggle to develop normal social skills. Both of these reasons, which is cyberbullying, and the destroying of social skills are reasons why social media is a bad impact on teens and they both are huge problems in the world right now today. a lot starting with social media. The Pro's On Social Media By: Aaliyah Plunkett | 7th Grade
I am going to be talking about the pros of having social media. To start off some pros of having social media is to boost selfesteem by providing emotional support to improve mental health. Another pro is teens with disabilities because they have to stay up to date on social media by posting their health status to see if they are almost done with going to the hospital. One last pro is studying because people these days have trouble studying for test and by using social media you could look for tutoring group or one-on-one practice and it can help them gather useful information to help on a test.
To conclude these are many pros of having social media and it can impact your life with positive things, so people won't have to hide in their shell online. Resources:phonesheriff.com,Author:Kelly Austin,Date:June 23,2016

Why I Love Sports Asia Ricks | 7th Grade
One of the many reasons why I love sports is because it takes the stress away, when I play sports I don't feel stressed. I also love sports because it teaches me how to work together with other people. I love sports because, like the theater, it is a venue for emotional expression. I need sports because it helps me escape from real-world troubles. Sports provide a sense of belonging, a connection to a wider world. That's why I play different kinds of sports. I have played basketball, soccer, flag football, track & field, hockey, dance, and cheerleading and all of those sports I played I have a passion for.

The Impact Of Social Media on Body Image By: Jhynia Martin, Angel Parris, and Asia Ricks | 7th 6th Grade What Is Body Image? Body image is a person's perception of the aesthetics or sexual attractiveness of their own body. It involves how a person sees themselves, compared to the standards that have been set by society.
What Is Anorexia?
Anorexia is an eating disorder causing people to obsess about weight and what they eat. Anorexia is characterized by a distorted body image, with an unwarranted fear of being overweight. There are more than 200,000 US cases per year. Symptoms include trying to maintain a belownormal weight through starvation or too much exercise.
Does Opinion Impact Your Persepctive of Your Body Image In some cases, people's comments on one's body image can boost their self-esteem when it comes to how they feel about their bodies. However, in majority cases, body shaming on social media can lead to an eating disorder. It may also lead to a person becoming anorexic, which may lead to serious health issues and maybe even death. Due to social media, the cases of anorexia has been growing rapidly in the past couple of years. About sixty-five percent of people with an eating disorder say bullying contributed to their condition. Society's expectations in the social media world have also opened the door for body shamers and bullying to occur more frequently. Suicide is also a possibility of considering body shaming. The majority of social media users with this problem often have issues connecting with the outside world, their constantly bashing themselves, their self-esteem is low, the list goes on and on. With a couple of changes to the social media platform, we can help bring down the percent of people who deal with body shaming in the on and offline world.

SUMMER 2019
Beyond the Classroom: Life Skills Program My name is Ms. Martin and I am one of the Behavioral Interventionist at Renaissance Charter School at Plantation. I joined the 21st Century Program this summer in hopes to equip our scholars with the social and interpersonal skills they need to cope with the demands of their everyday life. The objective of the Life Skills Program is to build our scholars self-confidence, encourage critical thinking, raise awareness of the dangers of social media, and help our scholars communicate more effectively. This summer our scholars got the opportunity to reflect on their 2018-19 school year, and with the help of their vision board set goals for their 2019-20 school year and their future. Following are list of topics we cover in the Life Skills Program. . .Â

Bad meRmAiDs boOK reVIew By: Natola Wilson | 6th Grade
This book is one of my favorite book that I've ever read. This book is about three mermaids that were sent to land with temporary legs for the summer. They were having fun, until they they received a message ordering them to go home. The queen of the "Hidden Lagoon" has been kidnapped, (fishnapped if you will) and some extremely bad mermaid had taken over instead! Now its up to the trio to save the day. They need a clam car, piranha print nail polish, and possibly a talking seahorse named Steve. Do you thin they can they do it?!
Don't Blow Up, Instead Get
Yourself Together By: Pharicka Louis | 7th Grade
Back to school for students can be really overwhelming because getting refocused after summer fun can lead to loads of stress. Here are 5 tips that will help you to not stress. 1. Prepare the night before - Pick your uniform out and hang it up. - Put your backpack & supplies by the door - Prepare your lunch for the next day - Set your alarm for 6:00 am 2. Get your hair done before school starts so it can be pretty and nice before you go to sleep put a bandanna on it so you won't get it messed up before school 3. Grab Your Supplies Before the First day of school Go shopping with your parents for your backpack & supplies on the supply list such as glue, books, pencil, pens, highlight, eraser, lunch, white-out. 4. Prepare your lunch for the next day so that you won't go the day without eating. Food is brain power. If you buy lunch put your money in your backpack so you won't forget it. 5. Set your alarm for 6:00 am because if you don't set the alarm you will wake up late on the first day of school before you go to sleep go take a shower so you are ready for school and look nice.
