The truths of the worms are here.
Worms Juan Mendez The worm is one of the interesting animals in the planet. You think there just for fishing. That there not important at life. If you think of that your wrong. The worm is the one who help us in garden. These things I’m going to tell you the real fact of the worm. There approximate 2,700 different kinds of earthworms. Worm live where there is food, moisture, oxygen a favorable temperature. If they don’t have these things they go somewhere else. In one acre of land there can be more than a million earthworms. The largest earthworm is ever found was in South Africa and measure 22 feet from its nose to the tip of its tail. Worms tunnel deeply in the soil and bring subsoil closer to the surface mixing to with the top soil. Slime, a secretion of earthworms, contains nitrogen. Nitrogen is an important nutrient for plants. The sticky slime helps to hold cluster of soil particles together information called aggregates. Baby worms are not born. They hatch from cocoons smaller than a grain of rice. Even though worms don’t have eyes, they can sense light, especially at their anterior [[frontend]. They move away from light and will become paralyzed if exposed to light for too long [approximately one hour]. If a worm’s skin dries out, it will die. Worms are hermaphrodites. Each worm has both male and female organs. Worms mate by joining their clitella [swollen area near the head of a mature worm] and exchanging sperm. Then each worm from an egg capsule in its clitella.
I found this information in Hppt:/urbanex.illinois.edu/worm/ fact/index.html You can find more information in that web site. Even on different animals.
The earthworm is one of nature top “soil scientist”. The earthworm is responsible for a lot of the things that help make our soil good enough to grow healthy plants and provide us food. Worms help to increase the amount of air and water that gets into the soil. They break down organic matter, like leaves and grass into things that plants can use. When they eat, they leave behind castings that are a very valuable type of fertilizer. Earthworms are like free farm help. They help to “turn” the soil bringing down organic matter from the top Ands mixing it with the soil below. Another interesting job that the worm has is that of making fertilizer. If there are 500,000 worms living in an acre of soil, they could make 50 tons of castings. That’s like lining up 100,000 one pound coffee can filled with castings. These same 500,000worm burrowing into an acre of soil can create a drainage system equal to 2,000 feet of 6 inch pipe. Having worms around in your garden is real good signed that you have a healthy soil. The worms are not from America. There from the early European settlers brought the worms over to North America. The year was the 1600 and 1700. If the European didn’t bring over them, our soils and gardens would be very poor. Worms have fossil but the problem is that their all soft body and no bone. There fossil are rare to find. The scientists haven’t found worm fossil but found “trace fossil”. These are tunnels in rock that may be burrows that were formed when the worms wriggled through the sand. There were found in India. A lot of people don’t agree because some think that the “tunnel” was made in other way. They were in the Cambrian period. These are all true. If you think worms aren’t interesting remember these facts. We need worm to help us. Don’t think their fish bait but there little hero.
