STEP 1
Setting up the Problem Statement
STEP 2
Asking the right questions to the client Creating an air tight brief Survey Analysis - User + Market
STEP 3
Developing Mood boards Creative Research Survey related to acceptability of creative
STEP 4
Refining and Iterate Deliverables to the client
The information present in the Online brief platform ‘Briefbox’ was the maximum data present with to work on. For client preferences, surveys were taken to get a justification of the choices. Market Analysis of its competitors were done from secondary sources, i.e. Internet.

Developing the brief Asking the right questions leads to the development of the creative brief. A questionnaire was made, which had questions such as basic information, history and future plans, target audience, competition, and vision of the product. With the information of the questionnaire, a brief was created around which the design process revolves.

Logo Depending upon the survey results, logo on right had an overall lead than the rest, and refinement of selected logo was done thereafter. The logo is unique, recognizable and organic because of its stroke variations. It is simple and clean and the color helps to relate with honey and premium quality.
Color The main brand colors chosen were navy blue and golden brown. Other neutral colors were chosen as accent colors. From the mood board created and research analysis, honey was generally associated with golden brown and premium and luxury items were mostly associated with royal blue and golden colors.

Typography A set of 3 typefaces were chosen to fit the modern, premium and clean nature of the product. SIFONN - Modern and distinct letter-forms like ‘e’ and ‘w’. Intended for displays to be elegant and stylish. Trade Gothic - For caption usage, to be sparingly used. It woks well with Sifonn as it has similar rectangular letter-forms. Univers - For secondary texts needed to fill up information related to the product.
Graphics The graphic language is represented by honey drops, either 4 columns or 2 columns. Any other orientation is discareded.

The logo is represented by rounded curves as tea fields along with 3 plants growing, which indicated 3 tea plantation sites of the Assam Tea Company.
The project is intended for bulk packaging and so minimal colors or no colors were appropriate.
Bebas Neue - Vertical, growing like leaves upwards, used for brand name as display for a striking corporate, neutral and condensed,i.e. reserved look.
The logo is unique and memorable with a bit of corporate look.
For corporate look and economical reasons, only black and white were used, with grey as an accent color.
Montserrat - Its wider look complements the vertical display face used for captions and body copy for its clean look.

What is Maze Typeface? Maze is a display typeface made from a modular grid. It is an experiment to develop 36 characters, i.e. alpha numerals on the basis of each letter form forming some kind of maze structure inside. This experiment was inspired from works of Ana Gomez Bernaus in an Adobe Live Lettering event, in which she develops a maze type structure in a modular grid. The idea was to get inspired from her works and develop a full set of basic glyphs and convert it into a font file.
T YPE DESIGN
MA ZE T YPEFACE
Approach STEP 1
Developing a modular grid for the underlying structure of letter forms.
STEP 2
Using the modular type elements and aligning it in forms of letters, keeping a letters as reference with opacity lowered.
STEP 3
After developing the letter structures, form mazes by closing or opening areas. After completion of one letter, continue it for the rest of the alpha numerals.
STEP 4
MODULAR T YPE LAYOUT
With the letters formed, refine it and load it into a font editing software, Fontforge. Define the side bearings and Kern pairs wherever needed and export it as a font file of Regular weight.
MODULAR ELEMENTS
T YPE DESIGN
MA ZE T YPEFACE
Creating glyphs First a 400 pt square was made which represents 100% in the figure. The square was broken in modules of 80% and 70% of the square. A known typeface is kept as a reference at the back with opacity lowered for maintaining similar structure. The modular elements were aligned with the guides and A was formed. After that the maze was created by joining or breaking lines.
A
This process was continued for the development of the rest of the typefaces. CREATION OF ‘A’ LETTER FORM
T YPE DESIGN
MA ZE T YPEFACE
Glyphs Every letter is made in some form of maze, and the kind of maze formed is the underlying creative process of the typeface making.
MA ZE DISPLAY T YPEFACE WITH 36 GLYPHS
The rules for maze formation were followed and broken to keep the consistency of the letter forms.

Maze Font Being a newbie in type design, I worked on the process of font making and exporting in Fontforge. The font is still in the making because of improper side bearings and Kern pairs. The font file in the given link below is the incomplete font file in opentype format. LINK

POSTER
CLUB WORK
Poster Making Process DesignTab, design club in NIT Rourkela were about to induct new members at the start of the session and I was asked to make a poster. The poster has bold yellow caps letters of “Induction” to shout out to the eager members about the news. The content in-between the letters were the domains in which the club worked, so idea was to order the info wisely so that it doesn’t look boring. Finally the dotted lines had 2 interpretations, i.e. to guide the eyes in following the correct order of induction and also literally as career paths taken by designers as the club intends to depict in the poster.
POSTER
EXHIBITION
Abstract Posters Photo manipulation of images making real like image composition was a series of posters I did during my club exhibition.
LETTERING
SELF INITIATED
Lettering Explorations I try out learning and experimenting with type in my leisure time. The process I developed was taking inspiration from Internet and lettering a quote or a word on dotted grid book in pencil, with some good composition. Then scanning the work and vectorizing in illustrator. After that refining the work as much possible. The composition was completed with some final touch of effects in Photoshop or illustrator.
