ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME JOURNEY AROUND THE WORLD

THE SEA: THREE CENTURIES OF EXPERIENCE

After 300 years at sea, MSC has sailed to every corner of the globe. We have discovered the world's finest treasures, the must-see destinations, and the jewels that lie off the beaten track. For this world cruise, we have taken advantage of our long seafaring experience to design an unforgettable voyage of discovery for our guests.

DISCOVER THE TREASURES OF THE WORLD

You'll sail to 43 unique destinations in 24 countries. You'll discover the very best in each port of call, thanks to the 15 exciting shore excursions included in your fare and any others you may choose. Of course, the voyage itself offers a series of unique experiences, like exploring Tierra del Fuego as you pass from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean through the Straits of Magellan, more than 500 years after its discovery. The novel experiences continue on board,

with a feast of surprises inspired by each destination, from international entertainment to local cuisine created by awardwinning chefs.

360° OF PURE RELAXATION

There is no more relaxing way to explore the world. With no need for air, rail or road transfers between destinations and no need to pack and unpack, you have so much more time to unwind. So treat yourself to an authentic Balinese massage or work out in the panoramic gym. Enjoy a game of tennis, then slip into a warm whirlpool bath. You'll feel at peace with the world.

SOUTH AMERICA AND THE STRAITS OF MAGELLAN

After crossing the Equator, you'll arrive in Salvador de Bahia, the historic heart of Afro-Brazilian culture, where capoeira, candomblé and samba de roda were invented. The sounds of samba will then guide you to Rio de Janeiro. Enjoy a memorable night in the "Marvellous City", before proceeding south to Buenos Aires, where another overnight stop will give you ample time to discover the home of tango. Then let the call of the wild pull you down to the amazing scenery of Tierra del Fuego, spending a night at the end of the world, in Ushuaia. After passing through the famous Straits of Magellan and into the Pacific Ocean, you'll then head north to discover the treasures of Chile and Peru, with further overnight stops in Valparaiso and Callao.

RIO DE JANEIRO

DID YOU KNOW...? ODE TO A CONGER EEL

Caldillo de congrio is a popular Chilean fish stew, which has red conger eel as its main ingredient and is traditionally served in a clay dish. There are many different ways to make it, and Chilean Literature Nobel laureate Pablo Neruda loved one version so much that he dedicated an ode to it. Why not try it for yourself: it might just bring out the poet in you!

TIERRA DEL FUEGO

PRICELESS GEMS OF THE SOUTH PACIFIC

Your route across the South Pacific Ocean is dotted with beautiful islands that welcomed Polynesian settlers centuries ago and now flaunt fabulous, secluded beaches along with a wealth of cultural treasures. You'll first call at Hanga Roa on Rapa Nui, better known as Easter Island, famous for its hundreds of huge and mysterious Moai. Facing inwards toward the island, these monolithic statues are believed to have been seen as guardians, representing the inhabitant's ancestors and symbolising religious and political power. Leaving Rapa Nui behind, look forward to a magical overnight stay in Papeete (Tahiti), before heading on to Aitutaki (meaning "little paradise"), where crystal clear lagoons and colourful marine life are waiting to be discovered.

DID YOU KNOW...?

SINGLE OR MARRIED PETAL?

The Tiaré or Tahitian Gardenia is the national flower of French Polynesia, and in fact one of the few cultivated plants native to these islands. The tropical shrub can grow to 4 metres tall, while its creamy white flower is about 8 cm wide.

Be careful if you put it behind your ear though: on the left side it means you’re taken, on the right you’re single!

WILDS AND WONDERS OF AUSTRALASIA

New Zealand and Australia will welcome you with their dramatic landscapes, architectural gems and friendly people. So relax and enjoy the multi-sensory marvels of the kiwifruit orchards and Maori culture around Tauranga. Then, with an overnight stop in spectacular Sydney, you'll have plenty of time to visit the iconic Opera House, or set out from the city to explore the outback or the Great Barrier Reef. Next, get ready to discover waters as blue as the lapis lazuli and pristine beaches of white sand as you explore New Caledonia, Vanuatu and Papua New Guinea. Returning to Australia with calls at Cairns and Darwin, discover more stunning scenery and wildlife, coming face-to-face with "living dinosaurs" in the impressive Crocodylus Park.

DID YOU KNOW...? RUB NOSES AND MAKE FRIENDS

New Zealand's indigenous Maori people originally arrived from Polynesia in the 14th century, and today make up about 15% of the population. If you want to make friends, don’t offer your hand or cheek though. The traditional greeting, deriving from the legend where the God Tane breathed life into a woman through his nose into her nostrils, is to touch foreheads and press noses together.

DID YOU KNOW...?

HELLO UNCLE, HELLO AUNTIE

Elderly people In Singapore are profoundly respected, in line with Chinese and Malaysian culture. That respect manifests itself in various ways. For example, it is considered rude to call anyone obviously older than you by their name - even if they are wearing a name tag. Instead it is polite to address your elders, especially if they are Chinese, as "uncle" or "auntie"!

With an overnight stop in Mumbai, you'll have plenty of time to explore India’s financial powerhouse, fashion capital and heart of the Bollywood film industry. Uncover its colourful bazars, sacred sites and grand colonial-era architecture. Your world discovery continues with the opportunity to revel in the contrasts of the Arabian Peninsula, from the coconut-fringed beaches of subtropical Salalah - a region famed for gold, frankincense and myrrh - to the ancient rose city of Petra, one of the world's most treasured Unesco Heritage Sites. Finally, you can experience the sensation of gliding across the desert as you sail through the Suez Canal and back into the Mediterranean for the final leg of your unforgettable round-the-world voyage.

DID YOU KNOW...?

A VERY DIFFERENT SANDWICH

Mumbai’s most famous street food is the Bombay or Mumbai sandwich. It’s on sale in every street –although the ingredients may vary slightly. Many street food vendors use a special toaster to give the sandwich a cone shape. Traditionally made of sliced vegetables between white bread, what really makes it a “Mumbai” sandwich are the spices or masala mix spread between layers.
