With our cruise sustainability programme we are introducing cleaner fuels across our new ships in the future, promoting responsible travel through our excursions, reducing plastics, recycling waste on all our ships and we can produce our own freshwater on board directly from the sea.

OUR RESPONSIBILITY: SUSTAINABILITY
From introducing on our latest ships one of the cleanest burning marine fuels today to our state-of-the-art water treatment facilities, we're considering the environment at every step. To preserve the sea we call home, and change cruising for good.
A particular focus is on decreasing air emissions, with systems in place to meet or exceed regulatory limits, and efforts to reduce our carbon emissions profile, including extensive energy efficiency measures on board every ship. Reducing and recycling waste generated onboard is a key focus across our entire fleet, and we are working hard to eliminate all non-essential single-use plastics from our ships.
Over 85% of freshwater produced on board our fleet is from desalinated seawater – up to 3 million litres per ship every day!
Advanced wastewater treatment ensures all water consumed is purified before returning to the sea. Every ship in the fleet has a dedicated full-time Environmental Officer responsible for environmental compliance and providing training and education to all our crew.

LNG FUEL
MSC World America is our third ship powered by Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) and is ready for a variety of renewable fuels, including Bio-LNG and Synthetic Renewable LNG. LNG significantly reduces Sulphur Oxides (SOx) and Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) as well as reducing greenhouse gas emissions compared to conventional marine fuels.

HEAT RECOVERY
