2020 Summer Professional Development Roster JOB DESCRIPTION for Master Artist Positions Summer 2020 Seeking Master Arts Educators and Teaching Artists to facilitate professional development for arts educators Contemporary and culturally-based art forms are encouraged to apply!


The Fine Arts OfďŹ ce of the Maryland State Department of Education and statewide arts partners are seeking Master Artists to facilitate the:

Maryland Arts Education Summer Studio 4-day regional professional learning institutes offering arts educators a deep dive in MUSIC-THEATRE-VISUAL ARTS-MEDIA ARTS- DANCE



Maryland Arts Education Summer Studio Goals: ●

(Re)discover who they are as creative human beings

Reflect on the value of creativity and aesthetic ways of knowing in 21st century classrooms

Create artistic products to deepen knowledge and skills in the arts

● Develop as innovative classroom instructors and leaders who demonstrate imagination, flexibility, and artistry in their practice ● Partner with artists, teaching artists, and colleagues to develop authentic arts-based lessons focused on the needs of diverse learners


Positions Available for Summer 2020 Master Artists MUSIC (vocal or instrumental) THEATRE VISUAL ARTS MEDIA ARTS DANCE

Seeking Master Arts Educators and Teaching Artists to facilitate professional development for arts educators Contemporary and culturally-based art forms are encouraged to apply! Must be available for 4 planning days prior to the summer and 4 days per site over the summer. Summer session dates will be announced at the webinar.

Reliable transportation is required.


Master Artist REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

-Expertise in one of the disciplines: dance, music (vocal or instrumental), theatre, visual arts, and media arts; -Strong capacity to facilitate artistic growth and express a deep commitment to the MC3 philosophy and goals. -Prior experience in the following: leading professional development workshops in the arts, supporting artistic processes, developing community-based arts projects, using multicultural resources, and working collaboratively.


COMPENSATION $60.00 per hour (20 hours of training/planning and 32 hours of instructional time) Accommodations and meal per diem at each site.
