Daughterville 2014 The Daughterville festival successfully seized the grounds of the MS DOCKVILLE festival for the second time on the 5th of July 2014! A finely selected lineup with acts such as Antilopen Gang, Egoland, Vember and This Void enchanted the approximately 1,500 young festival guests. Even a short but fierce thunderstorm and subsequent rain could not diminish the euphoric mood. The brief interruption of the festival due to the storm even made for a very special moment: Tom Klose played an impromptu acoustic gig in a relaxed living room atmosphere in the backstage area in order to reconcile the visitors seeking shelter from the storm. The one-off chance to get a glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes of the festival was an additional goody for free. Shortly afterwards, Fu** Art, Let’s Dance and Roosevelt (DJ set) quickly made us forget the rain and temporarily even brought us ecstatic dances in front of the stage. Those who were in need of a short break from the music could either let themselves be inspired by the valuable ideas of the participants of the under 20 poetry slam (Hamburgs Lautsprecher) or be wowed by the live-painting of the emerging artist “Moshtari acting like an artist”. Alongside stands for the physical wellbeing, the aesthetic side was also catered for – the young visitors could spice up their clothes with the new Daughterville logo or transform themselves by having their faces painted. For those who wanted to educate themselves in addition to the musical, artistic or poetic activities, there was the opportunity to learn from Greenpeace and Viva con Agua. This multifaceted programme is the result of a nine-month collaborative work of approximately 30 young people between 14-20 years of age. In regular meetings and under the guidance of professionals, the team developed a festival concept and mastered superbly all organisational obstacles in different groups. Apart from the aspects of how to organise a festival, the focus was also on functional and reliable teamwork. During the planning of the Daughterville festival, the importance of good communication and mutual trust became apparent for the young organisers.
the daughterville project takes place in the framework of the federal programme ‚pop to Go’, which was launched by the ‚bundesverband pop’ and promotes young people’s access to popular music.
“Those who were already here last year, rather had the impression of participating in the best picnic in the world. The visitors mosey on meadows, release balloons into the sky or take a stroll over the small terrain.”
“Daughterville – Creativity, poetry and good music.”
