SPEKTRUM 2014 2nd August 2014 – 28 Acts | 6.000 Visitors The third edition of the SPEKTRUM has asserted itself in the increasingly dense festival jungle and is definitely no longer a secret. With a larger and broader lineup than last year, around 6,000 visitors were able to enjoy an extraordinary high-class musical mix during the one day festival. A total of 28 national and international acts were equally distributed on three stages; whether in front of the Red Bull Music Academy Stage with a direct view of the River Elbe, the Maschinenraum stage opposite the imposing and illuminated Rethespeicher or in the shade of the big circus tent, in perfect weather in front of the picturesque setting of the River Elbe, one was spoiled for choice. Hardly any other open air event has seen so many different artists of the German rap landscape and the international beat scene gather in one place. In the field of tension between tradition and crossing borders between electronic gray areas and classic rap music, quality and diversity set the tone, and out came an exquisite line up. The spectrum ranged from experimental soul-jazz by Neneh Cherry & Rocket Number Nine (SWE / UK), honest electronic music from Tourist (UK), humorous road stories by SSIO and harmonious emotional pieces by XXYYXX (USA) to explicitly political announcements Hiob & Morlockk Dilemma. For the second time, future-oriented music and well-known acts could be found on the Red Bull Music Academy Stage. These included Onra (FR) as one of the most accomplished beat producers in the music business, Stwo (FR) with a special sense for melody and atmospheric beats, Araabmuzik (USA) who impressed with MPC-Live drumming and intoxicating DJ sets and mixes from xxxy (UK). Surprise guests such as SAM, Capo or Audio88 & Yassin completed the versatile programme. This year the SPEKTRUM also managed to place different genres equally next to each other. With the large growth this year compared with the previous year, the SPEKTRUM has established itself as a fixture on the festival map. The relaxed, peaceful atmosphere and the most beautiful scenery that you can have in Hamburg, underline only the good impressions. Therefore, for 2015 no more obstacles stand in the way of the one-day festival diamond on the Hamburg River Elbe Island.
