Do you know what would make farmer life easier? I know it’s a tractor! Thanks to this man Benjamin Leroy Holt. Benjamin Holt was born on January 1, 1849, at Concord, New Hampshire. He was the youngest of four brothers and eleven siblings. They owned a sawmill that made hardwood for wagon and coach construction. Next, in 1864, Benjamin's brother Charles H. Holt arrived in San Francisco, California where he founded C. H. Holt and Co. The company produced wooden wheels for wagons and later on steel streetcar wheels. During this period of the Benjamin Holt helped in World War 1. The second event that happened during this period of time was that was had travelled to England to learn more about ongoing development, through all those he saw failed field test. On April 22, 1918, British General Ernest Dunlop Swinton publicly honored Benjamin Holt and his company and relayed Britain's gratitude to the inventor for helping to win World War 1. In 2008, Caterpillar Inc. was the 133rd largest company in the world with a market value of $45.13 billion. After the war the people of Stock town named a college in California than is named after him Benjamin Holt College Preparatory Academy. There is a memorial hall with him in it Cherokee Memorial Park. Also there is a street named after him W Benjamin Holt Rd. Two years later Benjamin Holt died on December 5, 1920, at Stock town, California. After he died his grandson Peter Holt was an owner of the four-time NBA champion San Antonio Spurs, the WNBA's San Antonio Silver Stars, the AHL's San Antonio Rampage, and the NBA Development League's Austin Toros.
