LOUIS PASTEUR! There were many germs and diseases everywhere. Louis Pasteur was a cool inventor, because he saves people’s lives from the germs. Louis Pasteur created many vaccines one of them is a vaccine for rabies. Bio: Louis Pasteur was born in December 27, 1882, in Dole, Jura, and Franche-Comté’s, France. Louis Pasteur was an average kid; his interests were fishing, studying, and drawing. Louis became a much better student by winning many awards from his school. When he got older, his headmaster told him that he was a very smart kid and should apply to a college in Paris. When he was only fifteen he did apply to a college and moved there. But when he moved there he felt homesick and missed the test that required him to get into the college. A few years later he wanted to marry a wonderful woman named Marie Laurent, so he asked her father for her hand in marriage, he accepted and the two got married in 1849. He had five children, only two survived their childhood. In 1854 he became a professor of Chemistry at the University of Strasbourg. At the age of 26, Pasteur earned a doctor of science degree. He is regarded as one of the three main founders of microbiology. In 1868, due to his sever brain stroke, Louis Pasteur was paralyzed partially. He still was able to continue is study. In 1887 he founded the Pasteur Institute. In a few years later he died in September 28, 1895 at the age of 72. Died in in Marnes-la-Coquette, Hauts-de-Seine, France. World Events: One event that was at that time was in the 1870’s he applied this immunization method to anthrax, which affected cattle, and aroused in combating other diseases he did this by exposing bacilli to oxygen. More events that had happened at this time was Spanish physician Jaime Ferrán (1852-1929) developed a cholera vaccine. His vaccine was the first to immunize humans against a bacterial disease. There is even the time American physician Joseph P. O’Dwyer (1841-1898) introduced intubation for treatment of obstructed larynx in patients with diphtheria. Invention: This invention works by instituting changes in hospital or medical practices to minimize the spread of disease by microbes or germs. It also works by helping people because if they have been infected by rabies, Louis Pasteur’s vaccination can help cure that. Another way of how it works is it introduces the medical world to the concept of viruses. During the next year, more people such as 2,000 were given Louis Pasteur’s vaccination. That shows that it really works, if all of them were a success. This invention benefits people since today the rabies vaccine is given to pets to keep them from getting rabies. Vets. And people who work with rabies virus are also vaccinated to protect them from the disease. Generally, people only get rabies shots if an animal suspected of having the disease has bitten them. Six shots are given over a period of 30 days.
