HONDURAS

We continued to advocate for access to comprehensive medical care for survivors of sexual violence in Honduras.

With its long history of political, economic and social instability, Honduras is one of the poorest and most dangerous countries in Central America.

In Choloma, in the north of the country, Médecins Sans Frontières worked at a mother and child clinic, offering family planning, ante- and postnatal consultations, and psychosocial support to victims of violence (including survivors of sexual violence), as well as assisting with deliveries. Health promotion teams visited different sites, such as factories and schools, to raise awareness of the services available in the clinic and to provide information about sexual and reproductive health for adolescents.

In accordance with international protocols, in 2018 we continued to advocate for access to comprehensive medical care for survivors of sexual violence in Honduras, where emergency contraception is still banned.
