NATIONAL DISASTER CENTRE Karkardooma, Delhi a team work of 7 students
THE VISION HIGHLIGHTS THE IMPORTANCE OF MAKING A NATION RESILIENT BY ESTABLISHING A SYSTEM WHICH LAYS EMPHASIS ON CAPACITY BUILDING FOR DISASTER MANAGEMENT AT COMMUNITY LEVEL. THE SYSTEM IS WELL INTEGRATED WITH THE EXISTING TRANSPORTATION NETWORKS WHICH ARE IDENTIFIED AS CRITICAL LIFELINES IN CASES OF DISASTERS. THEY CATER TO TIMELY DEPLOYMENT OF RESOURCES TO AFFECTED AREAS NATION-WIDE AND SUPPORT EVACUATION, EMERGENCY RESPONSE, RELIEF AND RECOVERY OPERATIONS.
INDIA’S GEOGRAPHICAL SETTING MAKES IT PRONE TO NATURAL DISASTERS SUCH AS LANDSLIDES, EARTHQUAKES, FLOODS AND CYCLONES. THEREFORE THERE IS A NEED FOR THE CITIZENS TO BE AWARE, PREPARED AS WELL AS BE IN A POSITION TO MANAGE DISASTERS AND THUS PREVENT AND MINIMISE DAMAGE. THE PROPOSED SYSTEM OF A CLIMATE EMERGENCY HUB SHOULD BE ESTABLISHED AT THE STATE LEVEL, AND FURTHER BRANCHED OUT TO THE LOCAL LEVEL OF EACH STATE. THE INTER-STATE CONNECTIVITY IS MAINTAINED BY INTEGRATING THE SYSTEM WITH THE RICH NATION-WIDE SPREAD RAILWAY NETWORK.

DESIGN STRATEGIES A) aim to promote interaction and flexibility,Encouraging shared activities and free use. B) Enclosed spaces like bedrooms are mised and strategically placed to leave visual and Physical proximity of common spaces. C)Double height increases not only the amount of the sunlight in the living areas of the house But also allows for more cross ventilation, thereby ensuring high degree of passive environmental control while , also ensuring an unconventional spatial experience D) the upper floors are retracted to genrate Voids and double heights in the proximity of the facades .
