SIX SIGMA TRAINING – UNDERSTANDING THE CONCEPT AND ITS MANY LEVELS Six Sigma training is steadily gaining in popularity in the corporate world and quite rightly so. More and more enterprise owners and managers are now understanding and appreciating the importance of this concept and how it can help in streamlining business processes and maximising profits. Let us take a more closer look at what this training and its concept is all about. Six Sigma training There is one basic purpose upon which the entire training is based – Six Sigma is meant to improve the manufacturing or any other service business process within all level of a company by employing statistical methodology meant to decrease any defects and wasteful processes. It works by identifying the weaknesses and improving performances, both on the operational level as well as for the workers in the company, helping them in understanding the reasons behind unforeseen losses and finding better methodologies to adopt for enhancing productivity. This is why more and more people are moving towards the system and encouraging their employees and managers to learn and adopt the principles of Six Sigma in order to get the most from their enterprise investment. Most companies either hire personnel who are trained in the concept or offer Six Sigma training facilities to existing employees to bring service/processes up to the mark. For companies that don't offer training, employees have to enroll themselves, and with the work and lack of on-site training most of the people opt for online Six Sigma training. In fact, it is now a growing trend to take up these courses just to add another level of knowledge and experience to one’s portfolio to get better career opportunities. This is another way in which this Six Sigma training has been benefitting corporate professionals from around the world. Six Sigma Training levels There are basically four levels in which this training is offered and each one of them is intended for a certain level of an organisation’s workforce. The training levels start from the low level training for the workers at yellow belt, then green belt and top level management training for black belt and master black belt, which is the highest level. The yellow belt certified individual has all the knowledge of the principles of Six Sigma but is not equipped to lead any project. The next happens to be green belt Six Sigma training builds upon the knowledge base gathered in the yellow belt certification. These two are considered to be the most important of the lot as they attempt to train the backbone of an enterprise – the actual workers and low level managers. Six Sigma black belt professionals are equipped to lead projects, plan and strategise for organisational changes and help in devising and executing action plans for implementing the strategy. Master belt trainings are aimed for company owners and the highest level managers of an organisation such as the CEO and the like.
