Brief Industrial Profile of Beed District 1. General Characteristics of the District 1.1
Location & Geographical Area.
Beed has been a Marathi speaking District in the former Hyderabad State. In 1956, this district had been a part of the Marathwada at the time of formation of Bi-lingual State. This district was included in the State of Maharashtra, the Marathi-speaking state in 1960. In August 1982, the region as well as the district was divided and 43 villages along with 11 wadys from the Renapur Mandal in Ambajogai Tehsil were included in Latur District. Location and Geographical situation: Beed District is situated at the Central West of the Aurangabad. It is between 18.28 and 19.28 longitudinally and between 74.54 and 76.57 longitudinally. It is surrounded by Aurangabad and Jalna in the North, Parbhani and Latur in the East, Ahmednagar and Osmanabad in the South and Ahmednagar in the West. Godavari is the most significant river that flows on the borderline of Georai and Majalgaon Tehsils.

Beed is situated in the Deecan black basalt stone, ranges of Balaghat that constitutes main range from Ahmednagar in the west, to the border of district Beed in the East. This range divides the district into two parts. The plain area in the North is called as Gangathadi (bank of Ganga-Godavari) and the higher part is called as Ghat at Balaghat. Many hills exceed 2500 feet mark from the sea-level Balaghat range is between heights of 2000 and 2200 feet, whereas the plains called Gangathadi have the heights between 1200 and 1500 feet from the sea-level. The height of Ashti Tehsil is between 1750 and 2000 feet from the sea-level. The slope of Ashti Tehsil is in the Southern direction. 1.3

The Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology (CIRCOT), Mumbai, Shri Guru Govind Singh Engineering College of Technology, Nanded, Maharashtra Value Addition & up gradation of Technology 1. Due to the high moisture contain cotton seeds get damaged in turn reduce quality & quantity of Oil. By developing common Drying facility the moisture can be maintained to the normal rate of 5 to7 % 2. Un- removed Cotton Linter affects oil productivity & oil cake quality. Through Common Delinting the lint can be separated from oil seeds. Cotton lint has various industrial applications & having export potential. 3. Testing facilities are required for testing of Quality of Raw material as well as finished goods. Facility of Common Testing Laboratory will improve quality of products manufactured from Cluster as well as reduce wastage. 4. Capacity of Individual Enterprises in order to create facility for Common Processing &Testing is out of scope due to high investment, hence CFC would consist infrastructure related to Common Processing & Testing 5. To address the Issues & Concerns, creation of State of Art CFC consisting Common Drying & De linting facility with Common Product Testing Laboratory is necessary.
