Now, it's a grateful place for a lot of tourists. Sitges is a Mediterranean coastal town of Catalonia in the Garraf region, in the province of Barcelona and bordered by others villages.

History
Sitges was put on the map toward the end of the 19th century when it became a hip enclave of bohemian cool, attracting writers, artists and intellectuals. They fell in love with and were inspired by what was then a small and attractive fishing village. Among the leading cultural figures who made their way to the northeast coast of Spain was Santiago Rusiùol, a Spanish poet, painter and playwright and a leading light of Catalan modernism. The art and literature movement flourished here and in nearby Barcelona, finding expression in architecture, painting, design and decorative arts. Its legacy can be glimpsed in some of the buildings that grace the town such as Cau Ferrrat, Rusiùol’s former home now a museum, and the magnificent Maricel Palace.

Sitges has 28.527 inhabitants. Almost 35% of the permanent inhabitants are from the Netherlands, the UK, France and Scandinavia, whose children attend international schools in the area The climate is tempered and warm in Sitges. The rain in Sitges falls mostly in the winter, with relatively little rain in the summer. The average annual temperature is 16.6 ° C.

Arrrival information BUS The MonBus company offers a bus service connecting Sitges with Barcelona and vice versa, with regular stops at the Airport.You can visit the MonBus website. It takes about 45 minuetes http://www.monbus.cat
TRAIN There’s a train from Sitges to Barcelona approximately every 15 minutes that takes just 35 minutes. From Barcelona Sants station there are daily trains. For more information visit the Renfe website www.renfe.com SHIP (FERRIES) Sitges has three different marinas that are accessible to boats.
CAR You can drive back and forth between the Airport and Sitges using the C-32 or the C-31 highway.

Main local Events Sitges Carnival
Carnival is Sitges' most uninhibited popular Festival. It starts on Jueves Lardo (which could be translated as Lard Thursday and would be equivalent to Mardi Gras. in other Catholic countries, aside from it happening almost a week before Ash Wednesday). With the arrival of His Majesty Carnestoltes and his criticalsatirical commentary on public events of the town, the King gives his permission for unlimited fun and announces the beginning of carnival.

Gay Pride Sitges 2018 will take place from 14th to 18th of June 2018 The Sitges Gay Pride is held every summer. It's a five-day festival that includes parades and some events organized on the occasion. We suggest to check the website.
 Main local Events Festa Major: Main local Festival
The Festa Major is held in honour of the shared patrons of Sitges: Sant Bartomeu and Santa Tecla, their saint days being 24th August and the 23rd September respectively. Festa Major of Sant Bartomeu has greater resonance than the Festa of Santa Tecla.
