Picnic Day March 24th was MSO’s much anticipated Picnic Day. Around 100 MSO members gathered at University Avenue for lunch and games. We even had the High Commissioner (Dato’ Salman) and his team (Mr. Eldeen and Mr. Fo’ad) to come join in the fun. We featured Hainanese Chicken Rice, “Michael Jackson” (soy milk and grass jelly drink) and honeydew sago dessert. Games came after and ended with a fierce Tug O’ War and a team cheering showdown. Team Yellow emerged victorious, followed by Blue, Green and Red. Recreate our dishes with our recipes at: http:// mso.weblogs.anu.edu.au/culinary-recipes/picnicday-2012/ Cheers to the awesome Easter break!

Welcome Session & Dessert Party The Welcome Session and Dessert Party held on the 23rd of March had a combined attendance of over 150 members despite the downpour that day. It began with a few welcoming speeches by our very own MSO president and the president of MASCA. After the speeches, the attendees of the Welcome Session relaxed with a few games like the line game, bang and bomb before dessert. Surprisingly (though not for any who tasted them), the curry puffs were the highlight of the Dessert Party. While we feasted, members of ASAM entertained us with beautiful music. The perfect accompaniment to the food. I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did!

Hilary External Affairs Officer All first year members were invited to the Welcome Session and interactive games were played to allow them to bond with each other and the committee members. Straight after the welcoming session, everyone was invited to the dessert party held in the hallway of Manning Clark Centre. Despite the rain, it was a good turnout for the event. Members were served 4 different desserts such were coconut and pandan agar-agar, curry puff, muah chee and ondehondeh as well as lassi and sirap limau as drinks. We also enjoyed the performances organised by ASAM.
