Which Program Health Care Supply Chain Management (B.S.) The Mylan School of Pharmacy offers a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Supply Chain Management. The program prepares students for dynamic careers with medical device manufacturers, pharmaceutical firms, hospitals, distributors of hospital and medical supplies, and other segments of the evolving healthcare industry.

Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm. D.) The Mylan School of Pharmacy offers a six-year Doctor of Pharmacy program of study. The program is a “2+4� curricular format in which prospective high school students apply to the Pre-Professional Pharmacy portion of our program. After two years of Pre-Professional study, students wishing to enter the Professional phase will apply for admission to the Mylan School of Pharmacy.


Is Right For You? Weekend Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm. D.) The Mylan School of Pharmacy has developed the country’s first post-baccalaureate Weekend Doctor of Pharmacy degree program. This program offers a unique year round format through which students earn the Pharm. D. degree with course instruction on Saturdays and Sundays. This pathway utilizes educational technologies to enhance on-site weekend course instruction. Experiential education requirements (sometimes known as “rotations”) require full-time participation. Please consult the curriculum guide for more information regarding the timing of Experiential Education.

Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences (M.S. and Ph.D.) The Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences offers the Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Science degrees in pharmaceutics, medicinal chemistry and pharmacology and a Master of Science degree in pharmacy administration.


The Application Process High School Students High school students are eligible to apply to our Pre-Pharmacy program or the Health Care Supply Chain Management program. Successful applicants will have excellent grades and SAT or ACT scores, a well-written essay, a solid aptitude for Math and Science, and a desire to help others. Health Care Supply Chain Management majors graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree, and Pre-Pharmacy students are eligible to apply to the professional Doctor of Pharmacy program. Admission is competitive. Applications are accepted through the Duquesne University Office of Admission (www.admissions.duq.edu) by December 1 of the senior year. Transfer Students Transfer into the first professional year of the program is on a space available basis, which is typically very limited. Strong preference is given to students who started as freshmen in our Pre-Pharmacy program. Successful transfer applicants to the Doctor of Pharmacy program will have an outstanding academic record, a strong Pharmacy College Admission Test (PCAT) score, demonstrated community service, and a desire to help others. Selected candidates will be invited to interview. Admission is highly competitive. Applications are accepted directly by the Mylan School of Pharmacy, based upon space availability. Students with AP, IB, and College in High School credits The Mylan School of Pharmacy accepts very few Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB) or transfer credits. We recommend that you contact Admissions or the School of Pharmacy if you have questions regarding specific courses. Students with Bachelor’s Degrees Students who hold baccalaureate degrees from American colleges or universities are eligible to apply for admission to our post-baccalaureate Weekend Doctor of Pharmacy Pathway. Successful applicants to the Weekend Doctor of Pharmacy program will have an outstanding academic record, a strong Pharmacy College Admission Test (PCAT) score, and demonstrated community service. Selected candidates will be invited to interview, which will be considered in admission decisions. Admission is competitive. Applications are accepted directly by the Mylan School of Pharmacy via an online application only (www.pharmacy.duq.edu/we.html). Students who seek M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in the Pharmaceutical Sciences Duquesne’s Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences offers numerous degree programs that provide outstanding preparation to individuals seeking rewarding careers in Pharmacy Administration or the Pharmaceutical Sciences. The Master of Science degree is awarded in Pharmacy Administration, and the Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees are awarded in Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, and Pharmacology. (Programs in the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences do not lead to licensure to become a practicing pharmacist.)
