RECOMMENDATIONS FOR ASSEMBLY The function of a front door is only guaranteed if the assembly is carried out properly. This not only applies to opening and closing, but also to the heat protection, tightness and security of the front door. Proper execution of the building connection joint is of crucial importance in the context of the Energy Saving Ordinance and for sound insulation. Important: The front door is transported and stored in the position and form in which it will be installed later! 1. UNLOADING, INSPECTION, TRANSPORT AND STORAGE: • • • • •

Check the front door on the truck for visual damage, Take the front door off the truck, Follow the instructions on the STOP sticker, Check the deadbolt and blind frame for damage and proper execution according to order (do not install damaged or defective doors, contact customer service immediately), Store your front door protected from wind and weather.

2. UNPACKING, UNHOOKING THE DOOR LEAF: • • • • • • • • • • •

Lean front door with its outside part against, e.g., a wall, If necessary, loosen and store boxes with accessories and additional key, Carefully loosen the protective packaging on the inside and top, Remove cover caps of the straps (optional), Unlock the front door with key, Before unhooking, be sure to check for existing cable connections and turn them off before unhooking the door leaf (connector is screwed on)! Unhinge the door and lean it in upright position to avoid damage (e.g., protect against pressure marks with foam strips), Never use the handle to lift the door or door leaf, Use carrying straps or roller carriages for transport, Loosen the vertical protective edges of the blind frame, The front door is ready for installation.

3. NOT READILY COATED FRONT DOORS: • • •

Primer and two intermediate coats must always be applied before installation, Afterwards the wooden surfaces must be painted with final coating within 3 days, The coating should be done by professional painters.

4. ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS The assembly must be carried out by qualified personnel taking into account the "Guidelines for assembly" of the RAL Quality Assurance Association for Windows and Front Doors e.V.: • •

Place the frame in the installation opening and adjust door hight horizontally on the left and right If the inner floor is not ready, the meter crack (1 m height from OFF) should be taken into account

• • •

• • • •

• • • • •

be sure to observe the blind frame depth according to the specific construction plan (note: segment and round arch doors must be set as far inwards as possible to ensure that the door is opened) Prepare two to three exact-length spacer slats to be used later to prevent bulging of the blind frame parts (very important if PUR foam is used). Place blocks between the wall and the blind frame at least at eleven points (four times on the left and right, two to three times above) Distance blocks to approx. 20 cm from the top and bottom edge of the frame and other blocks evenly with a distance of about 50-60 cm Check the aligned and perpendicular position of the frame parts and, if necessary, adjust them accordingly. If necessary, crooked stick frame parts should be aligned so that they remain straight Carefully insert the door leaf and carry out a functional test (if necessary, align the frame part on the lock side with the door leaf and then place blocks or wedges again) The rebate space to the stop rail should be parallel! Carefully unhook the door leaf Insert possible outgoing electr. cables (ETÖ, motor lock ...) in the prepared electr. cable duct Mark the drill hole positions (the holes for 210 mm frame plugs are to be drilled through the spacer blocks). Practical tip: 7.5 mm 180 mm window screws with small Torx head have instead frame plugs proved to be well suited – the drill hole can be drilled concealed in sealing groove Now insert the two to three spacer slats (strictly down at the bottom track and in the middle at 1 m height) Cover the frame parts with Tesa tape 4438 or 4838 to protect PUR foam Insert the pre-compressed hinges on one side and carefully foam out the construction joint from the other side after the foam has dried, cut off the remains, carefully remove the Tesa tape at the latest after 24 hours and then attach the sealing sheet strips Hook in the door leaf and adjust it so that it reaches its perfect function - for more details see under: - Check the following points

Check the following points: • Rebate space between the door leaf and the blind frame should be the same on the left, right and above • Check that the locking mechanism is securely engaged in the frame closing parts

• • • • • • •

Check the non-contact movement of the door leaf over the floor The retractable door seal (Kältefeind) pushes down on time and safely The door opens and closes smoothly Firm fit of outside handle and inside handle Easy locking and unlocking via the profile cylinder Check the function of the door limiter. Dies the door limiter open when opening the front door from the outside in the locked state? Clean door leaves (also folds, especially at the top, so that no construction dirt can damage the leaf or the blind frame)

5. ASSEMBLY OF HANDLE SETS AND PROFILE CYLINDERS If possible, have the handle sets and profile cylinders pre-assembled or pre-drilled to minimize the workload and risk at the construction site. The factory complete assembly of the handle set and the profile cylinder ensures that the attachment was carried out correctly and professionally. If handle set and profile cylinder are mounted on site, please comply with the recommendations of the manufacturer. In any case please pay attention to the following points: • The locking of the front door leaf must be removed for handle mounting, since the front door leaf in the lock area must not be drilled through with the locking mechanism installed. • Ensure that the power is off when installing profile cylinders and handle sets! • Be sure to keep and store the security card of the profile cylinder. Only with this card you can get further required front door keys if needed.

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR MAINTAINANCE AND CARE The timely and professional maintenance of the front door is a prerequisite to ensure functionality and safety permanently. The following notes provide information on the "how", "when" and "by whom" the maintenance should be performed. The hinges and door limiters used are basically maintenance-free. The same applies to the aluminium surface of the wood-aluminium front doors. Timely and regular care will not only make your front door look good, but also contribute to the longevity of your home. FUNCTIONALITY

LOCKING MECHANISM

The following points should be ensured when checking for functionality: • Do not allow the door to drag over the floor • The door leaf should not creak • Problem-free falling of the latch bolt into the lock • Easy locking and unlocking via the profile cylinder • Door limiter on the M2-W lock (optional) can be unlocked easily, also check externally when the front door is locked! • Firm fit of exterior handle and interior handle • Functionality of the retractable door seal (Kältefeind) • Functionality of E-opener (electric door opener)

Once per year the locking mechanism must be oiled. Oils should not be acid or resin based. SEAL / SEALING Seal between the door leaf and the frame • check tightness • Must not be squashed Sealing on glass/fillings outside and inside • Check tightness, sealing joints must not be cracked In case of failure, immediately replace/repair so that the construction is not damaged. Rub seals with sealants.

Surface outside Wood Front door surfaces must be inspected regularly. Please ask your specialist dealer. Attention: Hailstones can destroy the surface of your front door so that a complete repainting is necessary. Your specialist dealer is happy to help with the assessment of the surface. Thoroughly clean the varnished surfaces with a wet, soft cloth. The varnished wooden surfaces must not come into contact with any liquid chemicals! Aluminium Powder-coated surfaces of external aluminium components require regular care in the form of cleaning once or twice a year, in order to preserve the decorative appearance over decades. The surfaces should not be cleaned under direct sunlight, the surface temperature should not exceed 25 ° C. Use only pH-neutral detergents that do not scratch and scrub. If heavily soiled, use special cleaning agent. Glass surfaces With plenty of water and glass cleaner. Attention: do not rub on the seal. Rebate area At the top, please wipe in the direction of the hinges, so that impurities cannot get behind the lock and thereby block the mechanism.

Outswing doors The instructions in this recommendation also apply mutatis mutandis to outswing doors. The most important change is that an adequate weather protection must be used, thus at least one sufficiently large canopy. The hinges of this front door are provided with a locking screw, which must be loosened before adjustment (locking screw is only visible with 90 degrees open door). Stainless steel applications The surfaces made of stainless steel (applications and handles) should be cleaned regularly. Dirt and oxide residues on stainless steel are no rust! Stainless steel cleaner should only be used on metal stainless steel surfaces! Renovation intervals for wood coatings Renovation intervals depend on the load level, orientation/direction, type of wood, possible weathering and hues. In order to be able to extend the renovation interval, it is important to visually check the condition of the varnish layer several times a year for damage and to immediately repair any cracks or minor exfoliations with repair varnish. For oiled surfaces the paint should be applied at least once or twice a year! As a rule, the renovation intervals for normally used front doors with N/NO orientation are at least ten to fifteen years, and at the doors for S/SW orientation at around five to seven years.

How to avoid the most common mistakes Avoid stains from plastering works Before plastering works, tape the surfaces with Tesa tape 4438 or 4838! Insufficient coverage of the surfaces can lead to staining on the unprotected varnished wooden surfaces during plastering (lime plaster, mortar, screed). The result is discoloration (dark spots due to the alkalinity of the plaster). Tape should be removed as quickly as possible (latest after 24 hours). Lock front door daily Daily locking, by turning the key 2x, not only protects against burglary (otherwise no effective burglary protection ensured), but also contributes to the longevity of the construction, because the locking counteracts the tendency of the wood to warp.

Remove moisture construction phase

quickly

during

the

Hundreds of liters of water are used for the building during the construction phase (screed, plaster, etc.). This moisture must be removed as quickly as possible without it being able to penetrate the wood. Therefore, always make sure to air, air, air. Front doors, which consist of a load-bearing wood construction (also wood-aluminium front doors), can warp.

Avoid uncontrolled slamming

Basic rules:

Make sure that the door leaf never falls into the lock in an uncontrolled manner (e.g. due to draught) (danger of destruction, risk of injury).

1. Warping is allowed if it does not affect the function. 2. Warping in new construction is normal due to the high humidity (IT DOES NOT GIVE RISE TO A CLAIM!) and disappears after 1 to 1.5 years.

Avoid hand contact on coated wood surfaces Make sure that you only use the handle or the lever handle when operating the door leaf. Coated surfaces can be destroyed earlier by continuous contact with dirty or wet hands! Do not close the door leaf when the lock is open (also applies if parts are between the leaf and the blind frame) Never turn the latch out of the lock with the door leaf open. If the leaf slams uncontrolled while the latch is open, your door can be severely damaged (applies mutatis mutandis, if there are parts between the leaf and the frame). Do not leave additional loads on the front door The hinges are sized to support the weight of the front door wing. Further weights burden the construction and can lead to considerable damage (also risk of injury). Please never allow more weights to act on the wing.

RECOMMENDED SETTINGS – LOCKING Notes on contact pressure regulation and adjustment possibilities Lock WINKHAUS M2 / M3 / M4 / M2-W / AV3 / EAV3 / BLUEMOTION External contact pressure adjustment The regulation of the contact pressure for individual striker plates or one-piece strikers is carried out via eccentrically mounted adjustment plates. These can be steplessly adjusted with a Torx T15 screwdriver in the range + 2 mm / - 2 mm. Internal contact pressure adjustment The regulation of the contact pressure for individual striker plates or one-piece strikers is done by eccentrically mounted adjustment plates on the inside. These can be steplessly y adjusted with a 2.5 mm Allen key or with the Torx T15 screwdriver in the range + 2 mm / 2 mm. By disassembling the individual striker plate and rotating it by 180 degrees, the adjustment range is increased inwards by a further 3 mm.

RECOMMENDED SETTINGS – HINGES HINGES BAKA Protect 4010 3D FD The stepless 3D adjustment (Allen key SW 4 mm) ATTENTION: For outswing loosen the pin retention!!!

doors

first

Lateral adjustment +/- 3.0 mm Turn both adjusting screws evenly (one turn at a time) in the corresponding direction. Avoid tilting the frame part and avoid stresses on the axis of all hinges.

Height adjustment +/- 3.0 mm Slightly loosen the clamping screws on all frame parts. Adjust the height of the door leaf by actuating the adjustment eccentric adjustments of the H-hinge, middle frame part. Retighten the clamping screws on all frame parts. Important: When adjusting the height, raise the door leaf with an air cushion or lifting device on the lock side and secure with a wedge!

Pressure adjustment +/- 3.0 mm Slightly loosen the clamping screws on all frame parts. By rotating the adjusting eccentric at the A-hinges in the upper and lower frame part seal pressure vary. Retighten the clamping screws on all frame parts.

HINGES BAKA Protect 4010 3D FD The stepless 3D adjustment (4 mm Allen key)

Height adjustment +/- 3.0 mm Slightly loosen the clamping screws. Use the lower height adjustment screw to bring the door into the appropriate position (if necessary, turn back the upper screw), tighten the clamping screws. ATTENTION: When adjusting the height lift the door leaf with lifting device (or with a wedge)!!!!!

Lateral adjustment +/- 3.0 mm Adjust adjusting spindle with Allen key: Turn right - to the hinge side (max 3 mm). Turn to the left - to the lock side (max 3 mm, door leaf part must not protrude to the housing).

Pressure adjustment +/- 1.0 mm Slightly loosen the clamping screws. Put the door in the appropriate pressure. Tighten the clamping screws. ATTENTION: FLUSH-MOUNTED DESIGN: In the case of flush house doors, differences in area flush may occur due to manufacturing and climatic conditions. Due to the need for optimum closing/sealing function through proper adjustment of the door leaf, the visible gap inside and outside between door frame and door leaf may vary from specified 4-4.5 mm value, to Âą 2 mm, the gap may also be uneven. All these features represent state of the art in flush front doors and thus do not give rise to a claim.

Door leaf settings by means of hinge regulation Permissible bending of the door leaf up to 4 mm on longitudinal axis - use a straight bar to check

By adjusting the fittings (locking and hinges), you can compensate for the warping unevenness between the door leaf and the frame in the corner areas that are not larger than 6 mm. The curving of door leaf or frame in the area of the handle height which are not greater than 4 mm, can be used so that the sealing and closing function are secured. Difficulties due to not optimal sealing function can be avoided in advance by the correct installation of the door. By wedging the frame on the hinge side and only a provisional fixation on the lock side, you can adjust the floor frame to the door leaf after hanging and only then wedge it. Self-lowering sealing profile between door leaf and threshold

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR USE The front door is designed to fulfil the usual functions of tightness, safety and warmth. Therefore, it is important to look closely at the environmental factors and to plan so that the construction is not overloaded. Exposure to moisture and sunlight The level of the stress is essentially determined by the orientation of the front door (direction of the compass) as well as by the additional protective measures against rain and sun radiation, such as canopy and anteroom. The stress on the front door when oriented to NW, W or SW is particularly extreme. Here, as a minimum protection, there must be a sufficiently deep canopy, even better: a complete protection of the front door, e.g. through an anteroom. Attention: darker shades are not suitable for doors oriented to S or SW - risk of heating up to even 75 ° Celsius - high temperature leads to the drying out of wood layers, to possible door warping and to the earlier destruction of coating. The manufacturer will not accept complaints regarding possible damage caused by disregard of the recommendations above. Interior use The interior use and the heating of the room immediately in front of the door system essentially determine the climatic stress on the door on the room side. In general, a distinction can be made:

Special climatic influences Front doors are designed to withstand the usual climatic conditions of Central Europe or comparable climatic zones. If the site is subject to special climatic influences, e.g. high altitude, marine climate, this can lead to an acceleration of the maintenance and care intervals. Interaction of stress / resume The effect of the listed influences on the construction are to be considered in interaction with each other. If several increased or extreme stresses on the front door, the risk of overuse is present. This affects the functionality of your front door. Therefore, try to plan the stress on your door in the normal range.

Important points: 1. After completion of the assembly, have the building owner immediately inspect all the details and confirm your proper performance in the construction inspection record. 2. Instruct the client that the front door should be locked twice, as often as possible (at least in the absence and in the night). Only then the burglary protection of the lock is guaranteed. Possible warpings can be avoided. 3. Doors that consist of a load-bearing timber construction (also wood-aluminium front doors), can warp. Basic rules: a.) Warping is allowed if it does not affect the function. b.) Warping in new construction is normal due to the high humidity (IT DOES NOT GIVE RISE TO A CLAIM!) and disappears after 1 to 1.5 years.

WARRANTY The warranty period for front doors to entrepreneurial customers is 24 months from handover. The warranty applies exclusively to defects in materials and workmanship, which are proven to be on the manufacturer's side. Such defects are remedied by the manufacturer within the warranty period. To remedy the defect, at least two attempts must be made by the entrepreneurial customer. All visual defects that may have occurred due to improper storage, manipulation or improper use of the doors, must be complained about in writing immediately after receipt of the goods; later complaints are no longer recognized by the manufacturer. Complaints must be made in writing with the customer's address, original invoice and enclosed warranty certificate to the point of sale. The production and the CE marking of the front doors comply with the harmonized standard EN 14351-1: 2006 + A1: 2010 with a declaration of performance of the product. For products with a specific purpose of use, which are produced in individual cases, the single-production principle (non-serial production) applies. For the existing structures, which are built according to their concrete characteristics for the individual case due to their characteristics and requirements (e.g. special dimensions, special constructions, special way of construction, special fittings, monument protection requirements), the CE marking requirement is waived. For these products, the manufacturer has the production technical documentation, documents of the factory production control, technical drawings of the actual component and the acceptance report after delivery release for production. Wood quality: our products comply with DIN EN 942, which determines the quality criteria for wooden construction elements. The guarantee conditions exclude the following cases: 1. 2. 3.

4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9.

Visual defects that were not claimed immediately upon receipt of the door - please note the attached STOP sticker! Doors that have been installed despite detected visual defects Doors used for a need not foreseen for this type of door - please see the CE declaration of performance on the delivery note: Properties – for the use in buildings (unheated / heated); if an inswing door has been installed as an outswing door, any damage caused to the door may not give rise to claim If the product was handled improperly or negligently by the customer (for example, unprotected, stored in dirty or wet rooms) If the front door was installed without a suitable canopy (required is a canopy large enough to prevent constant contact with rainwater) If the assembly was not carried out in accordance with the manufacturer's assembly instructions and not by technically qualified personnel If the block frame has been improperly installed (for example warped parts, vaulted, expanded, crooked, not right-angled, not horizontal, etc.); the installer must install crooked block frame parts so that they are evenly installed If colour changes have occurred due to contact with building materials (alkaline plaster and other building coatings) If the door was delivered raw, only pre-impregnated or oiled, the manufacturer gives no guarantee on the surface, wood/veneer cover layers and against possible warping. Such areas are to be regarded as critical, also with reference to the need for increased

maintenance intervals. With raw doors the silicone comes loosely packed. The area of the possible silicone seal (glass strips, filling strips, weatherboard) with limited adhesion of the colour coating and thus possible exfoliation of color layers is no reason for complaints 10. If defects in the wood have already been repaired by the manufacturer with wooden boats or wood putty; resin that comes out of the repaired pitch pockets in the wood, are not a reason for complaints 11. Possible rough edges with milled V-joints (milled against the veneer direction) are no reason for complaints 12. Cracks, knots, minor wood splintering, wood discoloration, rough edges on doors with knotty or brushed surfaces do not give reason for complaint 13. The arrangement, size and amount of branches is arbitrary and different at each door (unique) and give no reason to complain 14. If the surface treatment has been carried out inexpertly by the customer or by third parties (submit the invoice from the painter!). The painting should be done before installation! 15. If colour differences exist on the product itself or on the colour sample - minor colour deviations are material-related and do not entitle to any claim! 16. Differences in wood colour, wood texture (course of the annual rings and their widths and color, differences in the course of the veneer direction, transverse and longitudinal) and wood structure are natural and do not represent a reason for complaint! 17. Occurring minor or major colour discoloration on oak doors results from tannic acid reactions in oak and aqueous thick-film coatings or rainwater due to weathering. 18. Mirrors in various forms and proportions are never a cause of complaint in oak wood as they are normal wood constituents. 19. If the door parts of the larch doors have different colours. Larch wood is very diverse (yellow, reddish, brownish, light and dark) so the colour of the front door is not uniform; 20. larch wood naturally has a very high proportion of resin, which is why resin leakage from larch wood front doors is NO reason for a complaint 21. If visible colour differences arise due to outgrowth of nail holes in the area of attachment of the glass and filling frames 22. For colourless coatings, there is no UV protection, so that the wood can darken or bleach according to its nature by exposure to light, therefore no reason for complaint 23. If there are colour changes in the respective paints due to UV rays (sun) or contact with rain water. Some shades on wood (lighter, reddish) and especially metallic shades are prone to colour changes due to UV radiation, but they are no reason for a complaint! 24. Visual defects on the surface that are not assessed in accordance with the guidelines of the Test Institute for Door Technology + Burglary Resistance PfB Rosenheim. The guidelines describe scratches, cracks, etc. only occur as defects in the surface if they are clearly visible in diffused daylight and without optical aids from a distance of one meter 25. If visual defects on varnished surfaces (colour differences, colour spots, etc.) are not visible on the outside from 5 m and inside from 3 m distance, according to RAL RG 631 regulation 26. If there are visual defects in the glass (viewed from a 90 ° angle), in the "Guidelines for Assessing the Visual Quality of Insulating Glass", or "Guideline for the Assessment of visual quality of perfect glasses with screen printing or enamelling and with lacquered paint ", are described as allowed 27. Doors that were temporarily exposed to direct influence of precipitation or continuous direct UV radiation (1 m wide canopy is absolutely necessary!) 28. Doors permanently exposed to direct influence of relative humidity over 70% (outside: proximity of rivers, lakes, forests, shady and damp locations, inside: damp spaces) 29. If the door has been installed or installed next to a radiator, i. e. relative humidity falls below 50% inside 30. A curvature of the door leaf or the floor frame parts of a front door in longitudinal axis up to 4 mm and transverse axis amounts to 2 mm (permissible according to DIN EN 12219 class 2) is no reason for complaint! Warping in new buildings is the result of increased humidity and therefore no reason for complaint! 31. If the hinges or striker plates are improperly adjusted (after assembly or by the customer), the door will not be capable of closing and sealing. The hinges and striker plates are factory set. After installation, the hinges and striker plates should be finetuned by mechanic! All future settings of the hinges and striker plates and thus the

position changes of the door leaf are not a reason for complaint. The owner should have the door adjusted according to the instructions provided, as required or at least once a year 32. For flush house doors, differences in the flushness of the surface and in the gap between the door leaf and the frame may arise due to production-related and climatic conditions. In order to achieve optimal tightness under various climatic conditions, the seals between door frame and door leaf require a clearance of approx. 4.5 mm. The gap may vary after adjustment of hinges to give a better closing function Âą 3 mm. These differences are state of the art and therefore not a reason for complaint 33. Aluminium shells fade and expand with changes in temperature and, due to this, the functionality, construction and safety of the product are not impaired; at the connection points of the aluminium parts, minimal slit openings can occur, but they do not represent a reason for complaint. 34. If maintenance has not been carried out according to recommendations for maintenance and not on time The service on the product can be carried out during the warranty period only by authorized professionals of the manufacturer or representative, otherwise the warranty expires. Period of guarantee of spare parts and services: the manufacturer guarantees the service and the procurement of spare parts at least three years after expiry of the guarantee period. Warranty area: Member States of the European Union and Switzerland. The Guarantor is legally committed to this document and the conditions described. The rights of the user can also be enforced against the buyer. In the case of unjustified complaints, the client will be charged the actual travel costs of the workman and any labour costs according to the applicable tariff.
