TOURNAMENT 2015 WELKOM Namens de inmiddels 36 jaar jonge Midnight Players wil ik jullie hartelijk welkom heten op ons inmiddels alweer 10e internationale recreanten ijshockey toernooi. Als voorzitter van de vereniging is mij gevraagd om een stukje te schrijven. Ook dit jaar hebben we bijzondere deelnemers bereid gevonden om deel te nemen aan ons toernooi. Deze deelnemers komen uit verschillende landen. Zoals ieder jaar kunnen we ook dit jaar onze Belgische vrienden uit Leuven verwelkomen. The Jayhawks zijn niet meer weg te denken op ons toernooi. The Jayhawks is een sportief en gezellig team. Zij doen al jaren mee. Dit jaar kunnen wij een nieuw team uit BelgiĂŤ verwelkomen. Het gaat om het Team Finlande. Welkom Team Finlande. Dit jaar hebben wij twee teams kunnen regelen uit Duitsland. Voor de derde keer komen de Phoenix Duisburg terug op ons toernooi. Vorig jaar hebben zij sportief deelgenomen. Het tweede team uit Duitsland zijn de Neuwied Bears. Welkom de Neuwied Bears. Ik hoop dat alle teams goed aan elkaar zijn gewaagd en dat de line-up en vorm van de dag de uitslagen van de wedstrijden gaan bepalen, zonder dat er op voorhand voor een team een rol als favoriet is weg gelegd, en dat 2

TOURNAMENT 2015 het ook voor de neutrale toeschouwer een leuk evenement zal zijn. Via deze weg wil ik graag Joost van Heeswijk en Marco Stakenburg bedanken voor het organiseren van dit toernooi. Ook de sponsors, adverteerders, scheidsrechters, officials, ehbo-ers, en vrijwilligers wil ik langs deze weg namens the Midnight Players hartelijk bedanken want zonder hun inzet hebben wij geen toernooi. TOURNAMENT 2015 WELCOME On behalf of the now 36 years young Midnight Players I would to welcome you all to our already 10th international recreational ice hockey tournament. As chairman of our club, I was asked write a little something about the tournament. This year we again found some special teams to participate in our tournament. These teams come from various countries. Just like every year, we again welcome our Belgian friends from Leuven. The Jayhawks are almost inseparable from our tournament. The Jayhawks are a fun team with great sportsmanship and have participated in our tournament for many years now. This year we are happy to welcome another team from Belgium: Team Finlande. Welcome Team Finlande! Besides the two teams from Belgium, this year we also welcome two teams from Germany. For the third time, the Phoenix Duisburg is present at our tournament. Last year they played very well and with good sportsmanship. Also from Germany are the Neuwied Bears, herewith a warm welcome to the Neuwied Bears! I hope that all teams will be quite well matched and that the line-up & shape of the day will determine the results of the games, without one team being a clear favorite at the start of the tournament.

Through this way, I would like to thank Joost van Heeswijk and Marco Stakenburg for organizing our great tournament. The sponsors, advertisers, referees, officials, first aid workers, volunteers, thank you very much on behalf of the Midnight Players, without your efforts we would not be able to hold this tournament. TOURNAMENT 2015 TOERNOOIREGELS Het toernooi word gespeeld volgens de IIHF regels voor recreatie ijshockey dat betekent dat er word geijshockeyd zonder checken (non intentional body contact). Er worden 2 periodes gespeeld van 20 minuten vuile tijd het enige moment waarop de klok word stil gezet is bij een zware blessure of wanneer de scheidsrechter daar nadrukkelijk om vraagt. Elke team speelt 5 wedstrijden in een enkele competitie en het team met de meeste punten wint het toernooi. Voor iedere wedstrijd is er 5 min warming up. Tussen elke wedstrijd is er 5 min wisseltijd voor de nieuwe teams. Punten verdeling Winst = 2 punten Gelijkspel = 1 punt Verlies = 0 punten Als er teams gelijk eindigen met gelijk aantal punten dan word de ranking bepaald door: 1 – onderling resultaat 2 – gemiddelde doelsaldo 3 – aantal strafminuten 4 – aantal doelpunten voor Hoge straffen Als men de eerste keer 10 minuten misconduct krijgt is er nog niets aan de hand als de zelfde speler in een van de wedstrijden nog eens een 10 minuten misconduct krijgt een uitsluiting voor het toernooi. Bij "Game Misconduct" of "Match Penalty" volgt meteen uitsluiting van die wedstrijd en het vervolg van het toernooi.

TOURNAMENT 2015 TOURNAMENT RULES The tournament will be played according the IIHF recreational hockey rules, non intentional body contact. The games will be 2 periods of 20 minutes running time, the clock will only be stopped if there is a severe injury or when a referee asks for it explicitly. Each team will play 5 games and the team with the most points wins the tournament. Before every match there is a 5 minutes warming up. Between each game there is a 5 minutes changeover time for new teams. Point system Win = 2 points Draw = 1 point Loss = 0 points If teams are level on points then the ranking will be determined by: 1 - result against each other 2 - goal difference 3 - number of penalty minutes 4 - number of goals for Major Penalty Taking the first 10 minutes will have no further consequences but if the same player recieves another 10 minutes misconduct an exclusion for the tournament will be the result. A "Game Misconduct" or "Match Penalty" immediately be followed by an exclusion for that game and the rest of the tournament.

TOURNAMENT 2015 BRUSSELS SPROUTS INTERNATIONAL [BE] Brussels Sprouts International / Team Finlande / Suomen joukkue Team Finlande’s origin goes back to early 1990’s and to a group of Finnish journalists accredited to Brussels. They just wanted to skate, play “back yard” hockey and to have fun among themselves and their kids. They wore no protection at that time, only skates, stick and puck. After a friendly game sometime around 1996, final score 19-0 for Team Finlande, the team get inspired to play friendly matches and participate in recreational tournaments, with various results. Since Finland joined the EU in 1995 the team grew rapidly and since then flow of new players and rotation of old ones has been steady. Today we are approx. 35 keen amateurs and old-timers. We still have fun on the ice. It's recreational, it's a hobby. Even if the biggest single nationality in the team still is Finnish, we are glad to have several players from many other countries, as Canada, Czech Republic, Russia, Slovakia, Sweden and USA. When Team Finlande goes abroad for friendly matches, and victories, it’s known as Brussels Sprouts International. But the motto remains... Eat, sleep, sauna, hockey - is there anything else?

TOURNAMENT 2015 MIDNIGHT PLAYERS TILBURG [NL] The Midnight players were Founded in the cold winter of 1978 the team was formed by policemen and some people of the rink staff. The name Midnight players was given because of the time they played in that time. As you can guess that was at midnight. At the beginning they played only exhibition games. A few years later more and more members joined the Midnight players. As the level grew they joined a southern (Dutch competition) Years later the Midnight players stopped playing the southern competition and began playing games against local teams in Tilburg and region. Since 2010 The Midnight Players Joined the national 3th division. Wich is the 4th highest level in the Netherlands. Last season we ended at 3th place, and we missed the playoffs. Hopefully we will enter the playoffs next year. The Midnight players is a mix of young and old, Experienced and unexperienced players. Our team goal is to have a lot of fun and play the game we all love so much. This year we organize our 10th annual international icehockey tournament. We hope it will be a great success and that the all the teams enjoy it as much as we do. Everybody good luck and have fun!!

TOURNAMENT 2015 THE NEUWIED CRAZY BEARS [DE] Our Team consists of players from both Neuwied Hobby Teams: the "Deichstadt Bombers" and the "Crazy Bears". Everybody is welcome in our Teams. You find players from 18 to 60 years of age and skills from bloody beginners to aged Ex- semi- professional. Therefore with us there is always a friendly and familiar athmosphere. Fun is in the foreground at any time. Every year we organize a tournament at the end of the hockey season. Since we are able to set up 5 City- Teams in Neuwied, we will host a "City- owned championship " this year. We are looking forward to make new friendships in Holland!

TOURNAMENT 2015 PHOENIX DUISBURG [DE] "Phoenix was founded 2007 in Duisburg / Germany. We are all very enthusiastic hobby ice hockey player. Our team consists 25 members and the largest part comes from the Soviet Union (Russia, Kasachstan, Ukraine, Latvia). At the time we play in the 2nd Division of IHHL (Ice Hockey Hobby League) and visit several tournaments in Germany and abroad.

TOURNAMENT 2015 JAYHAWKS LEUVEN [BE] 1980 ... The Jayhawks were founded in the early 80's as 'Jayhawks University Ice Hockey Team Leuven (Belgium)' by a number of students, looking for another sport than football. The universitary team became quickly a sportly passtime for local and foreign students but the team never came further than the weekly practices (only during the hockey months) and about two games a year. 2000 ... Throughout the years a fixed core of senior recreation ice hockey players was formed, changing course and changing the name into 'Jayhawks Ice Hockey Leuven'. Apart from the weekly practices (all year long) we actually play much more games and participate in tournaments, both national and international, and with changing success ... but sportivity, friendship, respect and above all having lots of fun - this still comes first of all!
