INTRODUCTION TO HORIZONS Dear Community Member,

From July 28 to July 30 2017, the McMaster Students Union will be hosting the annual Horizons Leadership Conference. Horizons is a 3-day, 2-night leadership conference for incoming first year students at McMaster who wish to develop their leadership skills, challenge themselves, and cultivate lifelong friendships. The Horizons Conference provides students with the opportunity to share and expand their knowledge and skill set in an open, supportive and interactive environment. Delegates are led through a number of breakout sessions that encourage the exploration of topics such as empowerment, communication, and diversity. These sessions are facilitated by McMaster student leaders who help foster growth within student delegates, while forming strong mentorship bonds. x

Students who participate in the Horizons Conference continue on to impact the local community by dedicating their time volunteering, engaging with the local government and advocacy, and choosing Hamilton as a place to live, grow and thrive beyond graduation. The Horizons Conference gives all participants the opportunity to enrich their undergraduate experience by building deep, unique connections amongst their peers, their faculty and the Hamilton community through sessions, events and our community marketplace. As an organization committed to strengthening the community in which we live, we are committed to providing an experience that all are welcome to enjoy. With your help, we can provide opportunities to incoming first years who would otherwise not be able to attend due to financial constraints. Designing an experience that is accessible to each and every student is a difficult task, which is where you can help. x
