KEY POINTS & UPDATES FROM SRA MEETINGS

CAUCUS REPORT PERIOD Health Sciences, Humanities, and Kinesiology Caucuses, along with Operations Committee, Finance Committee, Executive Board, Vice President (Administration) and Elections presented their reports on their projects and progress. View the full reports at: www.msumcmaster.ca/governance/sra/sra-documents.

STUDENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM •• The SRA voted to implement a Student Assistance Program (SAP) for the 2016-17 year. The SAP is a 24/7 benefit provided to address personal and school-related issues such as legal advice, financial advice, mental health resources and support and wellness resources. Its three pillars focus on being confidential, voluntary, and accessible. What makes it unique is that it is more than just counselling and is also available to international students. •• The cost is $3.78 + HST per each student enrolled in the health plan. With projections of an increase in revenue, the MSU is able to absorb the cost of the SAP program into the 2016-2017 Health Plan without any increased cost to students.

ELECTIONS •• Congratulations to Ikram Farah (SRA Social Science) for being elected to the Executive Board. •• Congratulations to Ryan Deshpande for being elected to the MSU Seat for the External Affairs Committee.

MARMOR FEE REFERENDUM Marmor is an undergraduate yearbook that students contribute $9.22 to each year, and receive in their graduating year. The SRA voted to send this fee to referendum to let students decide if they want to keep the fee, or remove the $9.22 fee and add $5 to the MSU Operating Fee to create a digital yearbook, or eliminate the yearbook entirely.
