“It was a trip of a lifetime and it felt like you were in a National Geographic Special. One of the most rewarding experiences was visiting the Kibaoni Primary School, the first public primary school in Tanzania with a library, and bringing school supplies and books from the US. The school administration loved the MSU filled bags!”

THE MIGHTY EIGHTH IN ENGLAND: THE MEN OF THE BOMBER WAR

September 18–25, 2024 days

The rural farmland of East Anglia became the headquarters for the “Bomber War” during the 1940s. Tiny villages suddenly buzzed with the energy of thousands of pilots, crew, and support staff carrying out the missions to bring about the unconditional surrender of Nazi Germany. Almost daily, citizens of villages such as Thorpe Abbotts, Rougham, and Horham would hear the roar of the engines and watch B-17s, B-24s, and fighter escorts take to the skies. This was a new type of warfare, a war waged from the skies against an unseen enemy. Join The National WWII Museum for a reminiscent tour to England that brings to life the airbases, landscape, and history of East Anglia and London.
