I came from a corporate background as a CPA and a CFO. With DCD, now I’m working for myself — not someone else. I want to make sure my kids understand that mom does more than laundry. They see that I’m succeeding and being entrepreneurial as well. I do this to get my kids through college and to give something back. Our sitter supports brothers and sisters in Haiti and we help her send food and clothing to them. We’re also dedicated to help her daughter get through college. They’re like a part of our family now.

I saved an article about DCD and kept looking at it for several months. I knew that if there's anything in the world I could sell, it's chocolate! My husband agreed this was a low-risk investment and if it didn’t work we could eat the kit! I missed having a job and I wanted to do something with my brain. Instead of selling, I like to tell stories about the products like, "I had a customer who bought the Sipping Chocolate and now she's mad at me. Says I spoiled her and she can't drink any other chocolate now!" DCD started out as a hobby, but now I have a vacation fund and I'm saving to take my husband on a cruise. (Just the two of us!)

I was a police officer, the highest-ranking woman. After 30 years I retired and had to start over. I saw an ad for a DCD event, but I wasn't interested in direct selling. I signed up that night, in a snowstorm! Well, it took off like gangbusters! I don't consider it selling. I'm introducing people to chocolate. Once they taste it, they want it. I love pampering people — it's helping them in a different way. I get hugged at parties and people thank me for the chocolate. You don't get that as a police officer.
