DISPLAY NEEDS OEMs CAN SOURCE BOTH OFF-THE-SHELF AND CUSTOMIZED HMI SOLUTIONS FOR OFF-HIGHWAY VEHICLES FROM ONE PLACE

C>

Off-highway vehicles are becoming increasingly complex in terms of onboard systems, which are called on to control a growing number of functions. Each vehicle therefore needs dedicated instrument panels/displays to view all the values involved in field work. Instrument panels and displays have evolved accordingly, to enable the operator to constantly monitor the key parameters of the machines and any equipment they control.

graphics on the PC as they will appear on the dashboard/display at the end of the job, even while building the application itself. The software also contains a real time debugger and libraries with various functions that the customer can integrate, depending on application needs. In short, the MTA customer receives the electronic device, whether it be an instrument panel or a display, with basic software that can be easily implemented.

Standing out from the crowd

The devices have very similar hardware and software architectures, but come with a range of looks, sizes, numbers of LEDs, inputs and outputs, and screen types to meet the needs of the off-highway world, from small mowers to orchard tractors, large tractors and harvesting machines. This is the MTA Studio line, currently consisting of six dashboards and four displays, as well as two electronic control modules - all part of a standard range that is always available.

Where, for whatever reason, OEMs do not want to invest in the development of tailor-made dashboards/displays for their machines, off-the-shelf customizable products are ideal. Increasingly popular, these not only help reduce research and development costs and the time associated with new products, but also allow economies of scale thanks to the same hardware being used for different platforms, and software that can be customized for every application. MTA's solution for off-highway OEMs needing off-the-shelf dashboards or displays with software that can be quickly and easily customized is MTA Studio, a proprietary tool for the computer that enables the customer to tailor the product to the vehicle's needs. MTA Studio allows full dashboard/ display configuration in both graphics and operating logic using programs written in CIC++, Functional Block Diagram (FBD) and Ladder. The WYSIWYG graphical HMI enables the programmer to see the

Different shapes available Round, square, rectangular or oval - the dashboard and display shapes meet today's OEM demands, with dimensions ranging from extremely small (107mm [4.2in] outer diameter) to the high-end 310 x 215mm (12.2 x 8.Sin) display. The types range from LCDs (segment

or dot matrix) to thin-film transistors (TFTs from 90mm [3.Sin] up to 110mm [4.3in]), all coupled with analog needle indicators, up to full-color 203mm (Sin) or 305mm (12in) TFTs. The number of LED lights also demonstrates the extensive nature of the selection, ranging from four to 32. For those looking for products with excellent visibility even in intense direct light, MTA also offers an instrument panel and three displays, with glass that has been treated with techniques and optical bonds that eliminate air between the layers, thereby minimizing the reflection of light. The display then undergoes anti reflection and anti-fingerprint treatments. The dashboards, displays and control modules are developed and manufactured entirely in Italy, in an MTA-owned facility employing cutting-edge technology and accredited according to the most stringent regulations in the automotive world. The product range consists of components with advanced treatments and materials appropriate to the conditions in which the products will operate. The result is a range of products that guarantees high resistance to temperature and vibration, as well as protection to IP66 or IP67. From the simplest to the most advanced products, the technical solutions adopted are always cutting edge, with anti-fog treatments, inputs configurable via software, and Goretex valves. Each instrument panel or display is equipped with at least one connection to the CAN and some with video inputs that can connect to any cameras mounted on the vehicle. And as far as inputs and

the vehicle. And as far as inputs and outputs are concerned, there are several combinations, offering up to 36 digital inputs, seven analog inputs and four frequency inputs. A number of outputs are also available (up to a maximum of 12), with models that also offer power outputs to drive external functions, enabling the dashboard to replace electronic control units in the vehicle to achieve the smallest size for the electronic architecture in the vehicle itself. Also available are three displays that can be configured for use not only in MTA Studio, but on an Android operating system too, for when the customer wants to develop applications with the more powerful graphics that Android can offer. iVT MTA products guarantee high resistance to temperature and vibration
