Why Is Adoption Better Than IVF? When I was growing up I wanted to adopt because I was aware, there were kids that didn’t have parents. It’s not a humanitarian thing, because I don’t see it a sacrifice. It’s a gift. We’re all lucky to have each other. – Angelina Jolie No matter in what way parenthood comes to you, it is always a blessing. Having children is a luxury of a lot of parents on a daily basis. However, for others, it may be a difficult struggle. Not all are blessed with children. Though there are many factors couple not be able to have a family they wish, and one of the biggest among them is infertility. There are many issues which may prevent a couple from conceiving. However, it doesn’t mean one should lose hope of becoming a parent. There are two most preferred options for couples – IVF, i.e., in vitro fertilization and adoption. Though both are entirely different procedures, they can let you enjoy parenthood. However, couples often feel it challenging to choose the right option for themselves. Let us consider them one by one.

Adoption There is a variety of adoption process available, like domestic adoption, international adoption or adoption through a Christian adoption agency, open adoption, etc. Their availability may vary on the rules and regulations of your state. However, typically adoption is a lengthy process, and the timeframe for adopting a child may differ in different states and countries. Similarly, depending on the availability of the child, your waiting period may also vary. The process usually involves lots of screening, document verification, a home study and extensive background check to make sure that you are capable of nurturing a child and can offer him/her a stable home.

IVF IVF, on the other hand, is a complex medical treatment with a heavy cost. Though adoption also involves certain cost, but you are guaranteed to have a child. However, in IVF, there is no such guarantee. The process involves many cycles of in vitro, and the success rate is only 15-20% in women aged 38-40. Medical costs can increase this cost even further. In addition, risks of infection, bleeding, damage to blood vessel often come with the IVF process. In a nutshell, adoption does not involve any physical risk and also is less costly. If you are not obsessed with having a replica of your genes in your child, there is no point in IVF. Instead, it is better to adopt a child; after all, children are a gift of God.
