When Appalachian State has the ball: Appalachian State will try to smother Savannah State with its running game. Jalin Moore, the 2016 Offensive Player of the Year in the Sun Belt Conference, returns to the lineup. He gained 1,402 last season, but settled for 38 yards rushing in a 31-10 loss to Georgia on Sept. 2.
When Savannah State has the ball: The Tigers will have to contend with an experienced App State defense led by linebackers Eric Boggs and Devan Stringer. A.J. Howard and Clifton Duck anchor a solid secondary and Myquon Stout does the same for the App State defensive line.
