Located on the Appalachian Trail at the southern end of Hot Springs the lodge and hostel are the first buildings hikers encounter as they hike north. Built in 1974 the hostel is a place of rejuvenation for many hikers on the Appalachian Trail. “It’s peaceful here, the people are great and the price is right,” said James Foster an AT hiker. Accommodations include 8 rooms (and bunk rooms for groups), a common area for socializing, DVD player, Wi-Fi, a kitchen with refrigerator, hot plate, coffee maker, toaster and mi- crowave. Rocking chairs on the lawn offer tranquil repose for tired feet. Since 1903 the property home to the Laughing Heart Lodge has been a place of respite and rejuvenation.
