Don’t miss Knievel bike raffles
eith Sayers is a native Montanan born and raised in Butte, the hometown of Evel Knievel! Keith has been riding motorcycles for most of his life. He bought his first motorcycle at the age of 9 from his neighbor for $10 and from there it has been one epic ride for this hard working Rocky Mountain Kid. In 1995, at the age of 12, Keith started racing motocross which led him to three Montana state motocross championships. From there, Keith put in the time to advance himself in racing but found that
Montana was a difficult area to become noticed. Finding new inspiration in 1997, Keith started performing freestyle motocross demos during race intermissions. He caught on quickly, and in 2002 at the Unleash the Freaks tour, Keith was introduced to Steve Miller from SCS Racing. In 2004, Steve offered him an opportunity to come over to Bozeman, to start practicing at his facility. From then on, Keith has taken what he learned from Steve and decided to build his own custom facility in Butte.
Motorcycle stunts are a real draw at the Broadway and Wyoming jump site. Check the schedule for performance times.
Two motorcycles are being raffled off this year at Evel Knievel Days. There is an Evel Knievel Custom Harley Davidson, a 2010 Harley Heritage softtail that is custompainted by Tillo Graphics. Tickets are $20 or six for $100. Also, a YZF 250 Keith Sayers bike will be raffled for $10 a ticket or six for $50. Tickets can be purchased at Thunderbolt Harley Davidson, 34 Olympic Way, Butte. Tickets will also be available at the event at the official Knievel booth in front of the Uptown Café on E. Broadway. Other Knievel merchandise will be for sale there.

Tim Montana, Skyrocket Love, others play to crowds at night
Tim Montana a Butte favorite.
Tim Montana was born and raised under the wild Montana sky, by parents who believed in and instilled within him the core values of hard work, self-reliance, honor, respect and pride for his country. During Tim’s early years, the family lived in the mountains of Kila, Montana, with the only light to wake him in the morning being a kerosene lantern. The family moved once he reached his teenage years to Elk Park, 16 miles north of Butte. Tim picked up his first guitar at age six, and spent many long hours under the low glow of the kerosene lantern learning how to bend down those guitar strings. Family members were impressed immediately with his ability to pick up a song and play it, and it didn’t take long for his natural musical talent to shine. Tim spent his early years learning how
to play rock music in the Thursday: Scared at 8 p.m. style of Iron Front Band at 9 p.m. Kurt Friday: Ken Rich at 8p.m. Cobain. Skyrocket Love at 9 p.m. Ultimately, The Tom Cats at 10 p.m. Tim Saturday: F.O.G. at 8 p.m. returned to Miles Crossing at 9 p.m. his roots by Tim Montana at 10 p.m. coupling his experiences living the country lifestyle with a rock edge that really allowed his songwriting and instrumental talent to take on a unique country rock sound. During Tims’s early years in Nashville, his fan base in Montana exploded due to the popularity of his song, “Butte America”, which celebrates generations of hard-working miners of Butte.
The Bands:
Skyrocket Love has Butte ties A Hollywood band with a Butte connection will be rockin’ the Friday night crowd at Evel Knievel Days in Uptown Butte July 16. Skyrocket Love, includes guitarist Russ Nelson of Butte, a 2007 Butte High grad and graduate of the Hollywood Musicians Institute. “I started playing guitar at a pretty young age in Butte and opted to go to the musicians’ institute than college,”
Nelson said. “We asked the EK committee if they’d like us to play for the festival and they picked us up.” The five-piece band has a sound similar to The Killers, Daughtry, Muse and Coldplay. Their lead singer, Jeremy Bassett carries a tune similar to the Queensryche sound. Although they haven’t released an album yet, their music is available online and 5-song CDs will be for sale.

The following is a comprehensive list of the sponsors that have stepped up and made Evel Knievel Days possible by their generosity. The list is presented alphabetically, and is divided into three general groups; the “Platinum”, “Gold”, and “Silver” levels of sponsorship. All sponsors have been singularly generous with the amount of their financial and other support for the celebration. GILMAN CONSTRUCTION and the BUTTE URBAN REVITALIZATION AGENCY deserves special mention for going far beyond even the Platinum level in making the event a reality. Un-named in the lists are too many individual volunteers and merchants to list who have put loads of time and energy into the considerable effort involved in preparing for this year’s event. The Evel Knievel Days Organizing Committee wishes to extend a sincere THANK YOU to all involved for helping to make Evel Knievel Days the premiere event it has come to be.
