We all have a story to tell about how the liberal arts meaningfully impacted our lives, and each CLA story is unique. The College of Liberal Arts started collecting submissions for “My Liberal Arts Story” in February in an effort to share stories from alumni, students, faculty, and staff. Some stories start in middle school, as was the case for Leah Lyons. Other people found inspiration through study abroad programs, like John Wilson, whose experience led to his life’s work in international education. Meredith Craig learned how to solve problems and serve others because her liberal arts coursework helped her find a vocation rather than a career. Randy Sifuentes’ story is one of personal growth that spurred him to transfer to MTSU from Texas and then return home after graduation and share his passion for music with his students. We hope after reading the stories on the next few pages that you will pass along your own liberal arts story. Help us build this virtual library of experiences.
