Chapter Continues To Grow This year the Miami Chapter is proud to announce the initiation of 27 young men into its winter pledge class, The interests of these young men range f~om sky diving and mountain climbing to bicycling and skiing. They are involved in such campus activities as writing for the Miami Student, sWimming on Miami's varsity team and playing for the "Buckhorns", which finished second on campus in intramural basketball. This year's pledge project will be to construct a barbecue pit, which will contribute to fall and spring social functions, Already, the pledges have started participating in such chapter activities as songfest, intramural wrestling, volleyball, and bowling. Activation is scheduled for April 8, and all are cordially invited to attend.

This semester a membership development board has been created. It is chaired by the Membership Development Chairman, and includes all non-executive board officers. With the establishment of the board we are able to increase our involvement in greek and campus-wide activities. Our chapter recently placed second among 36 different greek organizations in the ZTA/A lI4> Songfest, which is held for charity. In the spring our chapter will be co-sponsoring a "Tugof-War" contest for charity with the campus intramural sports organization. All proceeds will go to the American Diabetis Association. Besides contributing to a worthy cause, we also hope this will enhance our goodwill with the Oxford community and give our new members a chance to contribute to the betterment of the chapter. If this service project goes as planned, we will make it an annual event. Spring rush will take place March 26 - 31. While winter rush was very successful, we are concentrating our efforts to expand even further. It is hoped that we will take in 5-10 more quality pledges during this period. Late in March we will be sponsoring a dinner for all sorority social chairmen. Dinner will be served by the winter pledge class, and a show will follow. April 1 marks the date of the Delta Gamma Anchor Splash, for which we are now preparing. Our goal is to repeat as spirit champs as well as win the entire event this year.
The D. U,'s. Phi Mu's. and Sammies combine to sing GODSPELL in songfest.

A
MESSAGE
FROM
THE
PRESIDENT
As spring arrives and our chapter prepares to take 27 newly initiated brothers into the fold, it is time again to consider our strong and weak points in order to strive for even higher achievements in the coming school year. Briefly, I would like to highlight one of our major accomplishments, Thanks are in order to all alumni who sent in rush recommendations. This past January marked our most successful rush in over a decade. Of 35 bids extended, 31 were accepted. Chapter membership has grown by leaps and bounds over the last 2 years to the point where we have rented an annex to handle the overflow. With year-round rush consciousness being maintained, selection is being concentrated on quality as opposed to quantity. Our major objective is to show our enthusiasm to our new pledges. By letting them know what goals we are striving for, hopefully they will catch the enthusiastic spirit as well. At our current rate there is no doubt but that our chapter will be right there at the top of Miami fraternities next year, Fraternal~ ~~~
