After Cologne, Stockholm, Paris, Milan, New York, Las Vegas and Dubai, in September 11 to 15, MUEBLE DE ESPAÑA [FURNITURE FROM SPAIN] will set foot in Asia, showcasing its appealing furnishing offer and new designs at FURNITURE CHINA, the Asian major event in the design calendar. Supported by ANIEME, the Spanish Association of Furniture Manufacturers and Exporters, and ICEX, the Spanish Foreign Trade Institute, Spain will be present in the International Brands Hall (W1) with a collective participation of 11 Spanish brands. Spanish furniture foreign trade. January-April 2013 report According to ESTACOM statistics, in 2012, Spanish furniture exports amounted to 1,389 million Euros, which represents an encouraging growth of +3.4%, if compared to last year’s results. In the period January to April, export figures were better than expected, picking up by 14.4%.

On the import side, figures indicate that they keep on decreasing due to the decline of Spain’s domestic consumptions. If in 2012 imports amounted to 1,951.7 million euros showing a decrease by -14.0%, at the end of April 2013, imports dropped again by 7.6%.
Main markets for Spanish furniture France, Portugal, Germany, United Kingdom and the Netherlands are the main Spain’s furniture purchasers in the period January-April 2013.

Among top markets for Spain’s products, it’s worth noting the remarkable increase of sales to France, Germany, United Kingdom and the Netherlands that went up by 24.5%, 11.5%, 20.8% and 84.7%, respectively. In spite of dropping exports to Italy (-33%) and Portugal (-2.1%), EU countries maintain their leading position among Spain’s major markets. Furniture sales to six main EU markets made up 59.5% of total exports. France, whose furniture purchases from Spain amounted to 162 million euros, stands out as the top importer of Spanish furniture. With a share of 31.8% of Spanish exports, France consumes more Spanish products than Portugal, Germany, United Kingdom and the Netherlands altogether (24.7%). A country where Spain is doing particularly well is Russia, that ranks now 6th among main Spain’s clients – just behind 5 EU countries- with a +28.2% increase in furniture purchases from Spain. Not less significant is also the increase of exports to the United States (+14.7%) and Saudi Arabia (+88.8%). The presence of Spain’s furniture in different markets and the growth in emerging ones are a strong evidence of the thriving international vocation of the Spanish furniture industry.
Furniture from Spain in China At the end of 2012, exports to China, which ranked 30th among Spain’s main destination markets, amounted to 7.6 million euros representing a share of 2.5% of Spain’s total exports. The participation at China’s main events for the furniture sector and the recent trade missions are aimed to promote the excellence of the Furniture from Spain among Chinese specifiers and consumers and increase its presence in all Far East countries.

As usual in the latest years, the seaside terraces of luxurious five-star Hotel Majestic Barrière in the Croisette have been equipped with furniture from VONDOM. This year, they chose the elegant and versatile SABINAS and BLOW collections, designed respectively by Javier Mariscal and Stefano Giovannoni. The attractive MARQUIS rug by Estudi{H}ac were a perfect setting for the interviews conducted in the Press Room of the hotel.
