The SALONE INTERNAZIONALE DEL MOBILE, held every April, remains the world’s most important design fair. It leads the way in furniture design, both from Italy and abroad, showcasing the innovations that will soon be shaping interiors across the globe. With an increasing presence, which is second only after Italy, Spain has been completing and enriching the Salone’s offer since 1996 with its diverse array of furnishing products, design items and styles. This year, the 62 Spanish companies of MUEBLE DE ESPAÑA will cover a surface of more than 6,000 sqm in three style sectors -Classic, Modern and Design-, and at the Workplace3.0 / SaloneUfficio, dedicated to the workspace, in halls 22 and 24. Made of pure, stylized lines, GAZELLE is an ultramodern design project that takes the essence of the table and declines it in different sizes, shapes and materials. A worldwide key player in the hospitality sector, SKYLINE DESIGN unveils in Milan a new in-house designed collection: MALDIVES, which combines for the first time in a Skyline Design’s collection materials such as aluminium, wood and glass. It consists of a dining table with a sturdy structure in polished aluminum and a white glass top, and a comfortable straight-lined chair made of polished aluminium with armrests in natural teak. Seats are filled with QDF (quick dry foam) of URECEL and come upholstered in Batyline and Serge Ferrari fabrics (ISO 5112).

Final figures for 2014 indicate that Spain’s exports of furniture have increased by +5.5% over the previous year’s figures, amounting to 1,692 million euros at the end of the year. Rich in styles and ranges and with a unique emotional approach, Furniture from Spain has consolidated its presence in four EU countries: France, Portugal, Germany and the United Kingdom, which rank 1st to 4th among Spain’s major markets and concentrate 53.7% of total exports.

With the exceptions of France and The Netherlands, exports have increased significantly in most of the top ten importers. Among Spanish furniture's traditional markets, Germany and United Kingdom have registered the best results, with purchases growing by +32.0% and +23.9%, respectively. Exports to Italy, the host country of the Salone, have recovered after years of negative results, amounting to 54.5 million euros and showing an encouraging growth trend of +11.9%. Significant increases have also been registered in exports to America: USA earned the 7th position in the ranking, with imports of Spanish furniture growing by +2.0% to 53.5 million euros, while the Mexican market ranks now 9th, registering a substantial +40.6% increase and totalling 50.6 million euros. In North Africa and the Gulf Region, good results have been reported in Saudi Arabia (+6.4%) and Morocco (+9.5%), which trust Spanish furniture companies for their high-end residential, commercial and hospitality projects.
